Well given that the original thread slid into the depth I figured I'd start a new thread, and try and give a little life back to what I think was a promising idea: Essentially a high class live game club

LOL! SD, I love it. Mind, I voted for him both times. The first because I didn't like the alternative and the second because I thought changing Presidents that early in the war was a bda idea (and Gore scared the fuck out of me), but I didn't vote for him the third time (let's face it, McCain would have effectively been Bush's third term) and I downright hated him by the end of his second term.

But, yeah. He would not have intentionally let civilians from all around the world die in those attacks. He would not have sat idly by while terrorism ran rampant and let it happen just to give him an excuse to start a war oversees.

That ranks right up with Roosevelt sitting idly by so he'd have an excuse to enter the war. If Bush or Roosevelt knew their respective attacks were going to happen, they would have let the military take measures to prevent them and given the intel to Congress to justify going to war.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)

@ krellin: "The idea that Bush was behind the attacks is the *most* idiotic sort of left-wing hate."

Sorry but... what? I mean, what the fuck? What is "left wing" about Darwyn's half-baked conspiracy theory, exactly?

Or are you using your usual logic of:

- I disagree with everything that is left wing.
- Therefore everything I disagree with must be left wing.

??

Darwyn's conspiracy theory is stupid, I agree with you there, but there is NOTHING politically left OR right wing either stated or implied in the OP.

@ Darwyn:

"It's the Secret Services job to protect the President.
No one could have known the President was NOT a target
The Secret Service did nothing to protect the President (they allowed him to stay)"

Your logic here is flawed. You need to bear in mind that the official account (which is what you are attempting to demolish) states that the authorities did not know that the incident was anything other than an accident until the *second* plane hit the WTC.

Therefore, at the point at which the secret service agent whispered into Bush's ear, they had no reason to believe that there were ANY targets - at that moment in time it appeared that it might simply have been a horrible aviation accident.

Are you suggesting that the Secret Services should rush the President into a bunker every time there is a plane crash anywhere in the world, in case the plane crash *might* be part of a terrorist plot to kill the President??

AND are you suggesting that this would have been a reasonable response in a PRE-9/11 scenario?

Because if you are.... well, don't be so silly.

"I don't have or need sources. All of this is common knowledge...and logic."

Epic, EPIC fail. Darwyn -911

"His agenda was announced at least one day prior (I've read three, but who cares?)"

Who cares? Who cares if you get your facts straight? Seriously? YOU should care if you want to come across as anything other than an idiot who is pulling daft unsupported crap out of his ass.

@ krellin again: "Darwyn....you are soooo fucking wrong in this that I am in agreement with people that hate me (Santa, Draug...) That is a measure of how fucking stupid you are right now."

Totally. It's hilarous, isn't it? This theory of Darwyn's is so wrong that pretty much everyone who has responded, be they left or right, sensible or crazy, can only laugh at the weakness of Darwyn's case.

Seriously Darwyn, when me, Draugnar and krellin are united in our disagreement with you, you *must* be going wrong somewhere.

@Jamie....let's see, after 9/11 a great rabble of LEFT-WING political figures came out and said that it was an inside job, Bush knew it, blah blah blah. I DON'T think that any Right-Wingers came out and said it was a Bush inside job.

Come on Jamie....man up and stop being a pussy. The "Bush Knew" Conspricary theory is purely a movement from the Left. don't make yourself look as stupid as Darwyn by suggesting it might be a right-wing theory, too....because then I'll have to call you a fucking moron, too....because that is what you will be acting like.

Let me see if I can sift through all this froth...

"Therefore, at the point at which the secret service agent whispered into Bush's ear..."
Andrew Card, the chief of staff whispered at the time the *second* plane hit...at 9:05am.

"Staying *is* the best option in this particular circumstance"
"They wait it out there..."
"He sat calmly because...it was the right decision."
On September 11, 2001 at 9:05am, all anyone knows is "America is under attack". It was a surprise, unexpected...a surprise attack. Who knows the President isn't a target? By definition of surprise...no one. Who sticks around to find out the hard way? By definition of surprise and its inherent unknowns...no one.

The Secret Service did nothing. They knew he wasn't a target.

Darwyn doesn't get that staying put was the best option at the time. He thinks running around going "OMG, OMG, where do we go now?" and putting the president out for all the world to take pot shots at would be better. Darwyn is a fucking moron.
Darwyn (1601 D)
30 Jul 11 UTC
"Darwyn doesn't get that staying put was the best option at the time"

Was it a surprise, or wasn't it? If it was, no one could have been certain the President was safe.

Have you ever been in an airplane? When you first take off, you're like, "Hey, I can see my street." A few hundred feet later, it's "I think my neighborhood is over there? Maybe?"

The World Trade Center was a big fucking building and very distinct.

The Pentagon is a big fucking building and very distinct.

Emma E Booker school is a pretty small nondescript building in the middle of a bunch of other small and nondescript buildings. The aerial attacks that were the weapon being used would not be able to effectively target it, in fact, trained barnstormers (an old trick of opening both doors of a barn and flying through it from the air to look awesome) would have a really rough time of it. They always picked a barn in the middle of nowhere to do it, why? Because hitting a building in the middle of a bunch of other similar buildings is not easy even if you train for that specifically.

So, aerial assault is out. Next step, what, snipers? Gas attack? Well, people working at schools get very serious background checks, and I'd hope you could rule out students from an elementary school. The building, a one story brick construction, is easy to establish a ground perimeter on. So you do that, and wait to see what happens. In a classroom filled with elementary school kids and people who passed not just background checks but secret service vetting, there's no threat.

He was in the safest possible place.
SacredDigits (102 D)

No one's ever certain of anything, Darwyn. I could go to the store to buy milk and find it's all sold out. I was certain they'd have some, it's a grocery store, come on now.

What they did was take the best possible chances given what they knew of the situation, and that best possible chance was staying where he was within their established perimeter.
Darwyn (1601 D)
30 Jul 11 UTC
"what, snipers? Gas attack?"

Right. The point is that no one could have known. But everyone knew where he was. therefore, the only way to guarantee his safety was to move him.

The SS did not *guarantee* his safety. They knew he wasn't a target.
SacredDigits (102 D)
30 Jul 11 UTC
Move him how and where? He was in a sealed environment that they already had control of.
Darwyn (1601 D)
30 Jul 11 UTC
"He was in a sealed environment that they already had control of. "

And everyone thought America had control over her own skies. You don't play guessing games with the life of the "leader of the free world".
Darwyn (1601 D)
30 Jul 11 UTC
I should rephrase...

It's not the SS's job to play guessing games with the Presidents life. It's their job is to guarantee his safety.

But they already knew he was safe. they knew he wasn't a target.

So, wide open street, exiting a building, which, by the way, is the moment most assassinations occur, safer than staying in essentially a bunker.

How many airplanes are aloft at any given time? A lot. That's a lot to protect.

How many square feet of building did they have him in? A lot less.

How many angles of attack are there to one specific classroom? Just a couple, and they already knew where those were and had them taken care of.

How many angles of attack are there to a street? Nigh infinite.

No one is saying it was 100% safe. We are saying safEST.
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Jul 11 UTC
Darwyn isn't going to accept that hunkering down in the school was the correct course of action because he is decieved into thinking that putting the president's life on the line by moving him is safer than staying put in a small building more than a thousand miles from where the terrorists had planned to attack based on the only intel the terrorists could have had when they were planning these attacks.

Darwyn, I will say this one last time. I worked VIP Security and intel in the Corps. The Secret Service's actions were exactly what they should be were the president a target and, as you seem to conveniently ignore, he *was* a target. The 4th plane was believed to be headed to DC to strike either the White House or the Capital building. You are a loon who professes "logic" while displaying none.

@ Darwyn: "It's not the SS's job to play guessing games with the Presidents life. It's their job is to guarantee his safety."

Please explain how moving the President out of the school at that moment would have "guaranteed" his safety?
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Jul 11 UTC
One other thing to note. The President determines his moves. The Secret Service can guide him, but he can tell them at anytime to get bent and they will follow his orders.
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
30 Jul 11 UTC
@ Darwyn: "You don't play guessing games with the life of the "leader of the free world". "

Moving him out of the building at that moment would have been "playing guessing games" more than keeping him put was, for reasons Draugnar and others have already explained to you in some detail.
Invictus (240 D)

Ever think the military might have scrambled jets to circle the school and that's why he wasn't moved?

i play two games where one country doesnt want to stop the pause because they are losing and thats a fact
one of them i know personally and he told me that
so one bad loser ruins the game to the other 6
i think the unpause must be majority like 60 percent or so
