(Really, HOW does a musical both shamelessly ripoff a classic opera most would rank in the Top 10--some would even call it the best ever, though that's a bit high--with the characters AND premise...AND STILL screw up THAT by having her LIVE and not die AND shoving AIDS in there, that last one jsut broke it for me, alwys, it doesn't GROW from the story, this isn't like, say TKAM where the racism flows naturally from the story and characters...that was put in there 1. To make it SEEM relevant and new and 2. To make it sEEM like they weren't ripping off Boheme!)

And since that plot was trite and overused when SHAKESPEARE did it--the paly's really only saved by Mercutio, who's awesome, a couple of good swordfights, and some great poetry by the Bard--I don't have a problem with it.

It IS a serious business, which is why I was pissed the story brings it up with no REASON to from a character/plot standpoint--again, in TKAM, the whole town is racist and it directly affects the trial and Tom Robinson and everyone, so the ISSUE is relevant to the PLOT and CHARACTERS...
