Inspirational Females
Here is a thread to post inspirational stories about women who have positively impacted your life.

True. You do provide plenty of double standards for me to point out.

On the actual topic at hand, Phoolan Devi was an incredible woman. Most people don't know about her. Sampat Pal is incredible in her own right and I still don't think that Malala gets the praise in Western circles that she deserves for what she's done and will hopefully keep doing for a long time.

The only person who was silenced was overtly demeaning to the role of women throughout history. Again I would like to stand by the assertion Abigail Adams should have been president. She was a strong participant on the political scene and would have been better at the job than her husband and son proved to be.

My mother is a huge inspiration for me as well, she moved to a new country and raised me and my sister on her own until we were 10 and 5. She studied and worked while she did that too. She's brilliant on top of just kind and caring.

My mum reversed into my car yesterday, thought no one had noticed, and didn't say a dicky bird. If that's not inspirational I don't know what is :)

∆+1. You may have your "WebDiplomacy critics" Demon Overlord, but I think they are few, and what is far more important imho, is that you have earnt the respect of a lot of other members here. Your performance at f2f competitions, your contributions to our WebDiplomacy community are noticed and are valued.
I know I get cranky and throw a few personal insults about, so I am far from perfect. But I cringe when I read some of your more aggressive posts aimed at provocative posts from others. Yes, what they post is imho, unnaceptable and must be confronted.. But please retain your dignity, confront what they post rather than insult the individuals with crude blasphemies.
If you're going to insult those who behave in the manner of cork brained clowns suffering from & overcompensating for self perceived inadequacies then please do so in a more elegant style.

Octavious made a great point earlier, and your post about your mother is a perfect example of what he wrote. He posted that whilst there are the famous women who are inspirational, often it is women who are close to us who have the most profound effect on us. I think that if/when you have children of your own Demon Overlord, that they will have an inspirational mother, and an inspirational grandmother, so they will be most fortunate.

Er, don't tell me to be what you would like me to be. Don't tell me not to get angry at things that are unacceptable. Do. Not. Fucking. Try. To. Police. Me. Thanks. I don't give a shit about you cringing, and I'm not mitigating my anger to make some white boys feel less insecure. I'm not here for you.

My suggestion was motivated because I don't want to see you get reprimanded when you could make your point without risking that.
But if I have offended you, and it certainly looks like I have, then I withdraw my suggestions unreservedly and offer an apology.

Please consider that what I was suggesting was "Yes, do attack the unnaceptable, but don't use the crude club of obscenity, use the deadly rapier of your intelligence ". You can hurt enemies much more by using intelligence than fists in a fury, is another way of putting the thought. How you conduct yourself will always be your decision. Not mine. I do "get that"

“The only person who was silenced was overtly demeaning to the role of women throughout history.”

And if B.B. had done that you would have fallen all over yourself praising his satire.

Yea double standards.

This was not a troll thread. The purpose was to talk about women who have done great things or have inspired you personally. I dont have a negative opinion on Michelle Bachmann, she adopted like 20 children and regardless of her poor choice of political beliefs, she deserves to be mentioned as a decent mother.

Im not sure Ann Coulter is really a very nice person. Shes kind of vicious actually. She us successful though. Palin is not really anything that great. Its good she has inspired people, she had her 15 minutes of fame I guess.

If were talking famous female politicians I would have to go with Gabby Giffords. She survived being shot in the head if im not mistaken.

You should probably be aware that Ann Coulter was heavily critical of Trump and regularly referred to him as an idiot. JSYK.

But eh, shes like bill maher. Kinda toxic. Kinda mean spirited.

There is a huge difference between rejecting someone because they are a conservative (or liberal,) and rejecting someone because they are acting like a fool. NOT usually in what is said, but how it is said.

Inspiring Women: Queen Elizabeths (both of 'em...) Mary Hunt (the real prohibition leader, even though I disagree with her policies...) Ursala Burns (recent ceo of Xerox,) and C.J. Walker (I wrote a paper about her in college... got an A... so I like her.)

@mm, I understand your point of view and how you offered that suggestion from a place of good intentions, but it is a bit antiquated these days. Women have no need to be dignified any more then any man does, and very very few men are dignified on the internet these days. DO is rather inspirational in confronting the sexist and rather disgusting mentality that a few of our members continually express on this site. This site, the internet, and society in general need to stop trying to impose their own expectations on women and simply accept them as they are.

@bo, if Zultar wouldn't get mad at me I'd go in the DB and give you 100 +1's for that silence. Very glad to see the site isn't tolerating sexist bullshit.

And to the OP, I've had multiple women inspire me throughout my life, but most significantly was a friend who pulled me though the aftermath of a difficult surgery some years back. Without whom I wouldn't have the job I do, and wouldn't be anywhere close to mentally okay.

And a thread about inspirational women seems like the best place to bring up that concern huh KB? [email protected] might be a better place to try. If you do not like the mods reply to your concerns then ask for an owner review. Seriously, Zultar will review problems if you absolutely do not feel the mods are addressing them, but just constantly complaining on the forum is not going to bring about change.
TrPrado (461 D)
19 Nov 17 UTC
In regards to OP in terms of my own personal life, it comes a bit more down to friends than family a bit. Though, I would be remiss not to mention my grandmothers, one of whom was a strong model of devoting service to others and a community for me, and the other has helped keep me going through my time in college.

Friends, though, have been strong examples of striving for ambition and giving way for no one.

Now that I've gotten everybody's attention, would anybody be interested in playing a game of American Empire where everybody plays as the region that they are from? I think that might be kinda fun and could be a way to release some of this clearly geographical tension that is brewing in the forums.
I'd have to claim NY
