“Ok, first, the '8 years under Obama', you can't simplu ignore the fact that the massive economic crash happened before Obama came to power. People were hurt under Obama as he attempted to recover from this.”
-Sure, Bush gets part of the blame. He was president when the crash happened. However, the efforts to nationalize 1/6th of the U.S. The efforts to bailout the economy by earmarking funding for turtle pathways and solar companies (that almost all went bankrupt) was just a way for the Democrats to reward their backers. Most of that money was phantom money and did nothing to bring jobs back or improve the economy. So his response to the crisis, in a lot of respects did not help. For the rest of Obama’s presidency the economy never, seriously, got back to Bush or Clinton era heights.
“Now i agree that Hillary represente the interests of Wall street, and not the Occupy wall street opposition who were opposed to Obama's choice of how to help the economy recover. And Trump, as a Billionaire, certainly didn't represent those protesters who opposed the 1%.”
-This is partially true. Hillary did represent mega-corporate interests, special interest groups, Wall Street. She was a neo-liberal like Bush was a neo-conservative. Trump on the other hand is not a neo-conservative or neo-liberal. It is true that he is a billionaire, but you forget that Trump favored protectionist policies, ‘Made in the USA’ policies (things that appeal to union men and women), he claimed to represent all Americans born in the United States. He funded his campaign in the primary (something Clinton or Jeb didn’t do). So, there was alot of things about his campaign that appealed to a lot of people who were sick of being screwed over by neocons and neoliberals.
Yes, half the country did not vote. That is their right. They can choose to do it or choose not to do it. This is not a new thing. It’s been this way for a long time.
A better electoral system would be preferable. I like the electoral system that we have, but I have nothing against a system that opens it up to multi-party candidates and truly gets away from the two party system.
Let’s stop with the buzz words like white supremacy. We both know that Trump does not represent the KKK unless you are claiming that half of the voters or 25% of the public is a member of the KKK/Neo-Nazi. You could say that he represents nationalism (not white nationalism), but civic or economic nationalism, or that he represents protectionism, or fair trade, or policies that benefit Americans over non-Americans, or policies that are law and order or border security, or traditional marriage and traditional social norms. Those are not white supremacy values. Those are the values of the social right, center, and republican party.
Btw most billionaires are Liberals and as you have partially acknowledged, Hillary was their candidate. We are living through an inverse of the political party system.
The Democrats are gradually becoming the party of corporate america, wall street, and big business while maintaining a social liberal system that favors minority, lgbt, and women voters. It has moved away from representing the middle class and working class though.
The Republican party is gradually becoming the party of middle america, working class men and women, and maintaining the appeal to the military, police, law and order types, border security types, and social conservatives.
In any event, you all (liberals) need to stop calling everyone who disagrees with you a racist, blah blah (ist) work because that is really pissing people off and it’s one of the reasons why we have Trump because Trump is a fighter and he doesn’t put up with that crap. People are sick of Republicans folding to everyone, every time someone uses an ist buzzword. He was our candidate to stand up to them and he is doing that and we love him for it.
