Ask her who she would have voted for and why instead. Teach her to think through things and respect the opinions of both sides so that the next generation can be a little less shitty at this.

She said to me she doesnt like trump because he says mean things about girls. But her friend said that. Her mom and dad are republicans but... arent thrilled.

Hillary has flipped on LGBT and immigration policy over the years. she has a lot of connections on wall street as well.

because of this, i think all she's doing is consolidating votes, when in reality, the only stuff i think she ACTUALLY wants to go at, is education, military and healthcare

It's the fact she's lying --> to democrats --> that i think she'll be more moderate. but still corrupt. eh

There are enough voices in the GOP that will work with Hillary. I think her supreme court apointee *if its garland* will go through before Obama leaves office

She won't nominate Garland unless she wants to let the GOP off easy.
JamesYanik (548 D)

@brainbomb

that's one thing i loved about Bill. not always truthful, not always moral (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHApenisjokeHAHAHAHAHAHA), but he worked with congress. they made concessions, they got stuff done.

He also did well with the budget: no he didn't have a surplus - they didn't include intergovernmental holdings back then, i've talked about this in the other thread - but the economic policies he had weren't that anti-business. In fact, he was one of the big 4: Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bitc- i mean Bush v.2, who didn't regulate wall st. enough.

Clinton and wall st i WOULD worry about, but like Trump is going to be better

I personally would love to see her nominate Judge Hamilton out of the Seventh Circuit.
JamesYanik (548 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
@bo

Republicans are sooooo stupid for not accepting Garland immediately. that's called a cash-in. that's profit off of a BAAAAD election cycle.

then again, we didn't vote for congress to be intelligent. we voted b/c we saw them on a local TV ad and thought "he doesn't look like a hippy"

I dont think Hillary will start day 1 on a revenge campaign vs the GOP. If she wants student loan reform and the buffett rule she needs the GOPs help

She doesn't need shit from the GOP if the Democrats win the Senate, now or later.

Of course they should have taken Garland, either that or rejected him. That is their constitutional responsibility. I thought Republicans pretended to care about all that.

They might scramble to put it to a vote Nov 9
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
07 Nov 16 UTC
Brain, you're nuts if you think pipelines are even among the list of the most serious environmental problems. Thousands of them exist alllll over the place. When they spill, it is awful, and they don't create jobs during construction, but we have much bigger fish to fry than crude oil.
brainbomb (290 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
Im against them putting a pipeline thru my home state that can harm the ogalalla, aquifer

The Ogalalla is done.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
07 Nov 16 UTC
Your home state among many others out there ran it dry. An oil spill down there doesn't really matter if there's no water. The sinkholes might be sticky.

Uh ogalalla is the largest aquifer in the midwest it supplies water to like 5 states bro.

They went through 650,000 emails in eight days completely enough to be satisfied with their previous findings?

That doesn't strike anybody as weird?

I don't get why this happened in this sequence. It seems pretty obvious they didn't actually go through everything, especially given how long it took them (~1 yr) to go through a fraction of that number in the initial investigation. If they weren't even going to look through all of them before telling the public that they were closing the investigation again, what was the point of telling the public they were reopening it due to the emails in the first place?
JamesYanik (548 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
@PE

did you actually see the statement the FBI made - they're not changing they're verdict in July.

the wording was WEIIIIIRRRD. it could be the CURRENT emails, are being processed separately. i don't know, it's been bits and pieces of information
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Yeah he did, brain. He said he was going to gut all climate change development and hinder clean energy production to the tune of $100 billion. It's a great read if you need a laugh/cry combo.

As for the Ogalalla, it continues to amaze me that even you out in Farmville, Nebraska, have no idea at how little is left and how much dry cropping and seasonal rotations with their irrigation services that farmers out there are going through right now. It is a pretty epic disaster as far as production goes, but nobody wants to notice. The Reservoir could very easily be bone dry within our lifetimes.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
07 Nov 16 UTC
The FBI's statement in July was weird too. It all reeks, but there's no indictment for the seventh - count em, seventh - time. It either means she's innocent seven times over her career and they just can't keep their grubby hands out of her personal business or there's more to it. I would like to trust the justice system, but I don't. At all.
ghug (5068 D(B))
07 Nov 16 UTC
"what was the point of telling the public they were reopening it due to the emails in the first place?"

PE, put aside the Trump love for a minute and tell me, as an intelligent and sometimes rational human being, what the most plausible explanation is here.
Ogion (3882 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
PE, no it doesn't strike anyone as weird, because there weren't 650,000 responsive emails. Gods, where do people come up with this nonsense. and if you've done e-discovery it still isn't odd. Eliminate the wrong date ranges, the wrong recipients by filter, screen against the ones you've already got copies of (since they already reviewed the other server) and there's not likely to be more than a handful that need real review.
Ogion (3882 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
And, yes, crude oil is probably the single most significant issue we face.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
07 Nov 16 UTC
If crude oil is the most important environmental issue we face, let me introduce you to this thing called coal.

To Americans
Learn from this mistake. When given a chance to elect someone like Bernie again, do it. Don't go for the person that's a part of the establishment. It could've been Bernie getting ready for his victory speech now. You threw that chance away when you LET the establishment decide Bernie wouldn't win. Learn from this mistake so that you don't make it again. Better luck next time.

Polarization Self-Assessment Thread
Politics has changed A LOT in the past ten years ago. In this thread, I'd like to encourage you all to think about your past political views and how greatly you've polarized over time. What issues do you care about today vs then? Why? Any original ideas or do you rely on the media for cues? Interested to hear some real self-assessment here! :)

Why is it that all (or most rather) live games are gunboat these days? I miss playing a fast game where people actually communicate and work together like how most of the games on here are played. Any idea why? D:

Viable Strategies for Austria
Whenever I play Austria I feel like I'm strategically forced to attack Turkey. I think that if Turkey isn't killed in the early game, he is basically forced based to go through Austria if he wants to reach the rest of the world. I know that this can't be the case, but I don't see the other strategies.
I would love to learn of some other options for Austria so I don't do the same thing every time I get it.
