Results of Ukraine-Referendum in The Netherlands.
A referendum was held about the pending association treaty between the EU and Ukraine. My country is the only country that hasn't agreed yet, because of a referendum with the unofficial outcome: "no" to the treaty. Some 32% voter turnout.
I voted "yes" and the general thought is that many people voted "no" against the EU in general, with Ukraine as collateral.
Thoughts?

The Right to Bear Arms - A Repudiation
So it turns out that the right to bear arms was actually only intended insofar as the usage by paramilitary militia groups in the event of a prolonged and protracted occupation by an enemy. The modern day interpretation of our gun laws is a fallacy perpetrated by the gun lobby to keep people dying, and keep their coffers flowing.

So in a live gunboat game, as Austria I had armies in Serbia and Rumania, and a fleet in Greece. So I set my orders for Gre-Bul (SC) supported by both Ser and Rum.

Is there a place for Diplomacy statistics?
I've been casually reading through Richard Sharp's "The Game of Diplomacy" and he keeps referencing statistics he got from somewhere. I know the book is very dated but I was curious as to if there was still somewhere I could find these statistics and if they've been kept up to date.

Is it possible to have exactly one electron sent through an electric circuit somehow?
What I ideally want is two power sources which send one electron each at the same time into one single electric circuit, observing which route is taken (indirectly).
Thoughts on whether this is possible? Thoughts on how to do this?

How statistically possible is it to only get France or Turkey when you play on classic?
Throughout my 20 or so games that I have played, I have been France and Turkey a disproportionate amount of times. I'm not complaining, it just seems weird. In 2 recent games that just started, I drew Turkey in one, and France in another.

So I met this girl
She is moderately attractive, and plays board games. She is very close to my age and is a soil scientist. I was thinking I would play it slow and do the whole friendzone thing for a while intentionally but with an M. Night Shamalyan twist at some point and I surprise her with a new board game we can play or something.

Nation Simulator- MkII
It is that time again - to see how the citizens of webDip would run a country. Let's plan on starting after the Mafia game, but we can get our ducks in a row now. We will need a volunteer(s) to help run the show. This could take some amount of knowledge and dedication, as well as an unbiased nature. Please respond if you are interested in helping or participating.

I agree however that gives me as mod time to perfect the system a bit and run some tests to make sure the game is going decent. I have some creative ideas I want to add that will almost surely add great elements to the game. I won't detail them all and all may not make it into the game. but:
-Private message options: these will allow individuals to make game influencing decisions that the rest of the council will have to respond too. These may include assassination attempts, private requests to the king, and more as the game develops.

-Tech Trees (more detail later)

and much more
I might play. Will depend on the time I have available.

Fireplay I see no reason why we can't accept a new person. Your lack of forum identity may play well into the agme making you a wildcard for the others. Worst case ( I am only logging this comment for anyone who disagrees with letting you in) I can always write in that you died... so the way we do things around here is you copy and paste the participation list :

3. TrPrado - 4x4=16
4. Peregrine Falcon 4 april
5. ND
6. Jamiet99uk
7. steephie22
8. trip- 04APR

and then add your name in the next spot and in this situation the preferred start date out of April 4, 11, or 18

So since we are closer to the start date would you be able to provide some details on how the nation simulator works?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
25 Mar 16 UTC
Okay, since the system is based on a deck of cards which in turn means there are predictable probabilities if I explain how I'll use the cards the request for details is a no. I can say that I have fleshed out an system which will act as a means for deciding every single action and reaction the game world has. Your job as a councilor will be to maintain your economy sending back regular shipments of silver and developing your means of production I will have tech trees which expand as the game progresses you can only see the next technology available and no further. The system appears after several private tests to be working well enough. Best in mind of my sim system fails (which I can not imagine happening) I will adapt and we will progress on the fly. As will be my job as moderator I will try to make the sim as immersive as possible.

Dear Councilmen,

I write you on behalf of our lord the king. Soon, you embark on the journey of a lifetime, to establish the first colony in the new world. Our grand kingdom of Classica has for too long been disrespected by those heathens in the Playdipian Empire. In your journey you offer the prospect of not only great wealth and a bright future for our kingdom but will yourselves go down in history. I offer you some warnings. The first ships to sail along the new worlds coast reported barbaric groups of men dressed in skins and adorned with body art too grotesque for us to describe. The men shouted and threw their primitive weapons at our ships to no success. I also warn of the dangers of crossing the open ocean with Playdipian ships lurking.

Your first order of business as councilmen will be to establish your governing charter. The king wishes to give you autonomy, and as such had only one condition for your initial charter- It must be agreed upon by a majority of your peers. I will ask one of you to volunteer as temporary scribe to record your charter for me to deliver to our esteemed king.

Your second order of business will be to decide which items, experts, and resources you wish to bring with you and how much. The ship does have limited space. The king has instructed me to offer you 6 of his best experts of which you may only pick 3, and has instructed me to offer you 6 basic blueprints for which you can collect resources and then build upon arrival.

I thank you again for your sacrifice to the greater good of Classica, and wish you well on your voyage.

Lord Byron the Reliable - Official Advisor to the Crown.

(Going forward all correspondence outside of the parenthesis will be in character as your Advisor to the Crown, or your various experts. Anything within parenthesis will be considered just regular old smallpox loving me, telling you about dates, timing, or game mechanic issues or solutions. Below I have detailed the rules for play and I hope that this is as much fun for all of you as I am sure it will be for me.)

Each turn will have a time limit, in which whomever you choose through your charter to lead your colony will have to make a decision or register the final vote for a decision. If no decision is made it will be assumed that no action was taken and the game will progress.

A player wishing to exit the game should notify the gamemaster in a PM, and will be escorted off of the colony until they can return.

To join the game or return simply PM the gamemaster and he will notify you of the date you will be announced as arriving back on the colony.

For simplicity and ease of moderation resources will be kept simple: Food, Silver, Wood, Ore, Knowledge, and eventually Oil.

Every turn which will last 6 days ,with a day for moderation between decisions and adjudication, and within that turn players must decide how to handle their resources, how to invest their knowledge, and what to request from the Classica.

Requests will be granted every other turn so a request placed in Turn 5 will arrive in Turn 7. Plan ahead and be prepared for things not to go your way.

Players can be executed or removed from the Island. If every other player votes in favor of the action it will be done.

The technology tree can only be upgraded once per turn and will cost an ever increasing amount of Knowledge.

Your experts can be called upon for discussion and questioning but be aware that they are not at your whim and see themselves as non-voting councilmen. They will respond when they like, and how they like. Happy experts provide better information.
