Say, I just noticed that it is seven wild cards rather than 7 second placed in each group. That favors those in groups with weak players. So for example those in my group will have more solos because of my poor play, so the third placed person in my group will be rewarded for my terribleness ahead of a second paled player in the group of death who fights hard to six draws and a survive

Is that the right result?

Well, first off, all groups should have a roughly equal mix of good and bad players. For example, Group A has the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, 36th, and 43rd ranked players.

Second, Yes, there is a choice between top of each group with 7 wildcards, or the straight top 2. We went with the slightly more open one. Because there is no group of death yet since we're in pools, it should reward those who get solos the most, which is almost always a good thing.

I haven't done a rigorous analysis, but unless there is a truly wacky situation, it shouldn't be too much different. I'll be interested in seeing what the difference would be though.

CSteinhardt, this was when the tournament was expanded from 42 to 49 entrants. It was not as obvious as it should have been and for that I apologize. If this is an issue we'll work with you as much as possible to come to a best conclusion.

Why do people save/ready their moves in some games but not other games in the Group? Why not just do all?

I just had a fit of paranoia.

Most of the moves in all the 7 games are similar.

What if, thought I, in all those games I am the only player, in the first round, and unknowingly, I play for all the powers against myself.

And then it gets complicated. Maybe the rest of the moves are extracted from parallel universes?

Captain, I'm actually going to shuffle all group games seven times over the next few days, so you'll end up entering orders for every country.

Seven players in seven groups, the total is 49, which is 7 by the power of 2, and 7+2 is 9.

49 is 4+9, which is 13, and the word seven has two vowels, therefore 13-2 is 11.

Today is year 2015, seven plus seven is 14, 2015-14 is 2001.

We get 9-11-2001.

Just a comment on seeding ... 1,8,15,22, etc. means that group A is (marginally) stronger than B, which is stronger than C, etc. Using a scheme like 1,14,15,28,29,42,43 then 2,13,16,27,30,41,44 etc. would have been more theoretically even (unbalanced only by the relative strengths of players 43-49).
