I’ve been informed that you have been misleading us a bit. Your site is not just about Diplomacy talk or political threads. It has a lot of attacks and slanders on Webdiplomacy.net and the members here. Furthermore, I have been informed that Oli did not approve of your labeling “affiliated with Vdiplomacy” on your site (which has since been removed). We have also told you that we are not “affiliated” with your site in any shape or form. We are not going to allow advertising of a site whose main purpose is to attack and mock our site, what we do, and our members. As a result, we are no longer going to allow you to advertise your site on ours.

As you are the creator of this site, if your site is not going to stop attacking us in its threads and posts and you are just here on our site to give us grief and cause drama for whatever noble purpose you have in mind, then you are not welcome here. Our site exists to enable people to play Diplomacy with others, not as a personal shout box for you.

Uh, Zultar, we aren't making fun of Webdip over there. Some are sharing their opinions of the new policies, but I don't think the site "main purpose is to attack and mock" webdip. That's just not true. In fact, only five threads mention webdip at all (out of ~100):

1. My thread outlining my decreased activity
2. pangloss copy-pasting a letter he sent to you
3. A discussion on the recent changes of webdip
4. CommanderByron's thread on what things we'd like to see change here
5. A discussion on the codifying of the rules here

And also a general "community outreach" thread that includes webDip.

So tell me how our site "mocks" webdip.

If you want to mock Webdip I think the best place to do it is here..... I think the actions of the ruling elite are attracting their own criticisms, it is not really fair to blame Synapse for what is in most part self-inflicted wounds that could have been avoided.

Also, zultar, this is Oli's post on the issue:

While that might not be strict approval to say "affiliated with vDip" it's a pretty solid showing of his view on the forum, not negative at all.

Stop spinning things to cause faux trouble.

Actually Chaqa, you might want to talk to SYnapse about why he took down the "affliated with Vdiplomacy" part of his banner. Oli wasn't aware of what SYnapse was putting on his site or that he specifically said that it was affiliated with Vdip.
Once again, if any member wants to join that site, feel free, but it is not welcome here. Feel free to reach out to Vdip and Oli.

When I created Diprepublic, I was conscious of the concept that it was not to be an anti-webDip club or a group of malcontents but has something new and unique to offer to players at vDip and webDip. When I contacted your team to ask whether you had concerns or wanted to be included in the process of making the site, I received a one word answer; no. Since Diprepublic has took off instead of failing, your response has changed.

My business with Oli at vDip is frankly none of your business – he has recommended that I stay impartial rather than recommend solely his site for Diplomacy play, but will advertise my site as an alternative forum for vDiplomacy players. I have asked for volunteers to be vDip and webDip ambassadors at my forum, their purpose being to improve relations with yourselves and the site(s). It is understandable that my members would talk badly about your forum given the nature of my sign-ups. I will not censor these conversations but acknowledge your right to revoke my ability to advertise here. You also reserve the right to ban or silence my account if I continue to do so.

It’s my hope that you realise the potential of Diprepublic to provide a forum for debate while drawing traffic to your site as a sister-site, but this is your choice. I have not provoked anti-webDip sentiment to my knowledge except to comment on changes at webDip within threads of structured debate. If you feel you have something to offer to these debates I would recommend you sign up.

I once again request that webDip users are not persecuted for their posts on an independent site no more than if they were to write negative reviews elsewhere on the internet.

Synapse, tell us again about how you censor people's posts for fun.

Well SYnapse, let me correct you on the things you are wrong about...though it might be easier to just mention what in your post wasn't wrong.

Your business with Oli is in fact our business. You may not be aware but we share a very close relationship with their moderator team and staff. This relationship is inherent and necessary due to the fact that the sites share the same code. Myself, Kestas, and Oli collaborate quite a bit about code features and I'm working with A_Tin_Can here to merge their changes into webdip site code. We have cross team moderators who work on coordination with the other teams on cases and site features, etc.

This relationship has also been demonstrated by the vDiplomacy moderators becoming involved when one of their former admins violated our site rules, by implementing a ban from their moderator team for that member. This cross site punishment again demonstrates the the relationship between the two sites.

We replied no to see how your forum developed. Had it become an opening and welcoming site then we would have reevaluated our position. Your implication that the slanderous posts wouldn't have happened had we agreed to work with you is invalid since that would mean the sentiment was still there, and that your forum simply would have members angry at you for censoring them, not something we'd want to be involved with.

Add onto all this your presumption to assume the right to advertise an "affiliation" with vDip and we want nothing to do with your forum.

Then we move onto your personality. When you consider your past history with us, and your tendency to take rash and inappropriate actions when frustrated (attacking the site code, fake mod emails,etc), you can hardly blame us for not having any faith in your administration of your forum as it relates to our site. Especially considering that your profile here to this day is insulting Zultar and the mod team
