I wouldn't be interested in anything non-live. We should figure out who's interested before we try to figure out a date and any specifics.

Let's start a list:

YJ.
krellin?
Draugnar?
celticfox?
Draugnar (0 DX)

If the timing is right, I'm in.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
19 Dec 13 UTC
I'd be in and the forum thing does work.m You can get all the manuals online for free, but maybe not so legally. Also there's online dice rollers if we do need to roll dice. And yes I have played this way before and it can be awesome.
Draugnar (0 DX)
19 Dec 13 UTC
The website I listed seemed pretty legit and legal and had most everything you need. Are you gonna DM for us, CF?
Celticfox (100 D(B))
19 Dec 13 UTC
Also I've done the Pbem and that takes a lot of work for the DM. I've both DMed/storytelled that way for both D&D and one of the World of Darkness games, Chcangeling:The Dreaming I think but it could of been Vampire: Dark Ages as well.

Key is making sure everyone is posting /emailing a certain amount a day.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
19 Dec 13 UTC
CF if you have DM experience I'd happily cede to you. I've never been a player before and I look forward to maceslapping Draugnar in his silly head.
krellin (80 DX)
19 Dec 13 UTC
I'm with YJ - if it's not live what's the point of trying to pull off old-school live D&D style gaming?

I'm in (live).

I've DM'ed before as well - be an interesting challenge, perhaps, though I can just imagine the absolute hell of trying to keep a group organized and in control that aren't in front of me. Not sure the old ticker could handle the stress...but the thought of dragging all your minds through a krellin world...heh heh...makes me smile...
Celticfox (100 D(B))
19 Dec 13 UTC
I'll have to bow out of DMing since I just frankly don't have that much extra time guys. Not enough to do a good game. But if YJ does this one I'll do the next.. trading off seems to be best and hopefully I'll have more time then.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
So, CF, you will be playing then, not DMing? Draug will you enlist?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
YJ.
krellin.
CF?
Draug?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
Sorry draug, I missed your question regarding timing. Let's just establish interest first and then I'll do a doodle poll to see what time works for everybody.

This looks like it would work great!

Celticfox (100 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
Yeah I will be playing. Next question is which game, rules etc will we be playing?
Celticfox (100 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
I've been told that roll20 is great. Never used that myself since I haven'tdone any of the online stuff in quite awhile.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
I will look into that, CF. I think D&D 3.5 is a solid default.
loowkey (132 D)
20 Dec 13 UTC
Can we use GURPS instead ?
krellin (80 DX)
20 Dec 13 UTC
A couple other questions to help those interested prepare would be how do you want to start characters? I'm assuming we will roll them up through the DM somehow, but will we be starting Level 1, with 0 exp? Or to make it a bit more interesting do you want to start at some higher level (so casters have a few options and don't get beat down with the first stray arrow...)? If that is the case, then I'd probably want to go pick up the 3.5 books and start prepping out my character with the allotted <x> experience points we start with.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
Definitely level 1. Early levels are best levels.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
I already started learning the roll20 system, loowkey. Are you in?

YJ
CF
krellin
Draugnar?
loowkey?
krellin (80 DX)
20 Dec 13 UTC
Level 1 <rubs foot in dirt...shrugs...> Ohhhhh-kay...

Can I at least be your monkey boy?
krellin (80 DX)
20 Dec 13 UTC
You planning on using the video chat functionality?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
Maybe after we get used to it. I think text is fine until we all become familiar with the system.

Uh oh....I think we're going to lose YJ to roll20 before we even start...

Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
20 Dec 13 UTC
So that's 3 players at least. We could go forward with that, but Draugnar, what do you say? Should we include you for now and see if we can find a time that works for everybody?
Draugnar (0 DX)
20 Dec 13 UTC
Not between now and new years. After, though, I can probably find a time.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
20 Dec 13 UTC
Like I said, I don't know how to play it but I'm up for it.
Draugnar (0 DX)
20 Dec 13 UTC
DND is a matter of roleplaying. You don't so much have to know how to play as how to act your part and do fun stuff. Instead of saying, "I cast 'spell of swords'", say "I raise my staff and call out to mighty Crom sending forth steel sword after steel sword stabbing at my enemy's heart!" Then, instead of saying "you missed" the DM says "Um, actually, they were all rusty and crumbled to dust on your enemy's chest plate."

...was I thinking about. Going through my writings, trying to catalog what I have complete, incomplete, what needs editing (all of it...), etc, and I came across a document with just these two paragraphs (see next post). Probably was drunk when I wrote this one (not proud, just saying). Thoughts?

Newbie question
Is it considered bad form to take advantage of the situation when a player appears to have left a game? More specifically is it bad form to resubmit orders just prior to a turn ending when it that player won't be submitting orders? Just wondering about the etiquette of that scenario on this site. Thanks in advance!

Everybody start taking good care of your teeth as soon as you can. I started late, which is better than never, but now all the fillings I got when I was a teenager are wearing out, so I’m reliving all of those experiences at a fast tempo.

Money Philosophy
Liberals: Always focused on how to get other people's money, how to take money away from "rich" to give to others that have not earned it, but are somehow "owed" it (because they were born).

Conservatives: Focused on how to grow personal wealth, improve one's self and be financially self-reliant so as to not burden others.
