i uploaded new code just now that automatically aggregates some news. and ran it a couple times. i think it is processor-intensive. so i dont know if they were unhappy with the amount of cpu i used there, because now it is not showing up for me at all. im not sure if it is just my ip address that cant access the site or anyone.

but i suspect nobody can access it now.

ok who can analyze this situation? i am uploading files to the website. but they are somehow ending up shorter than they should be. they are short by a small enough number of bytes that it wont show up when you just view the filesize in kb.

then my website went down all of a sudden. and there was some problem connecting to mysql. then i sent a ticket to the host. and the second i send a ticket, the issue is partially resolved. the database can be connected-to, at least. but the css is messed up. maybe one of those missing bytes at the end of the file issues.

my conclusion - some asshole hackers. what do you all think? are maybe some of you responsible?

well either way my aggregator is in alpha mode at pesl.byethost7.com/indy but right now i just did one aggregation from what really happened's rss feed but that feed has so many headlines that it is probably more than enough for now.

this is what i think - some tools of the elite are hacking my website. but trying to do it in a way that i dont know that they are hacking it, but that they are hacking it enough to destroy any potential search engine ranking and to turn off visitors. or maybe to waste my time and make me paranoid by trying to make me think that it is some issue of mine that is causing the problems. so they are putting in very minor hard to notice problems that can be explained by this or that rather than the true cause - asshole hacking. what do you all think of that theory?

ok so assume that my computer is hacked and my website is hacked. under those conditions how can i make sure it stays up and behaving correctly? if there is a time x when the files are correct and on the server. then if i can somehow lock access to the server until i next update it, then even if they have hacked my computer itself and use my hijacked computer to upload error-ridden files to the server, they will not be able to with the server locked. that is one idea. anyone have any others?

like somehow get my server to only allow changes to it to happen at a certain time of day, for 30 minutes or something. but then again, the hackers could upload crap right before that time window closes, then the site is screwed for a day.

If you weren't such an asshat moron, I'dvolunteer to look at your code for you. I can deal with the conspiracy theory stuff, but when you think someone is hacking.your website and it isn't just that you suck as a programmer, you aren't worth wasting my time.

ok well when i submitted the ticket to the host, as soon as i clicked submit and refreshed the page, it was working. but the second before i submitted the ticket i refreshed the page and it wasnt working. so even if there were programming issues, there was also some other issue.

if it isnt a hacker, then i dont know what it could be. maybe the host if it gets a lot of activity from a free user it auto-shuts off the site thinking you might be a bot, but if you submit a ticket with a captcha then it auto shuts it back on? that is remotely possible. but i think the far more likely is some ass hackers.

Noone would even bother to hack your website - you are already doing a great job on your own.

Browser caching, runaway process (yours) that triggered a server reset. Lots of possibilities. Eliminate the impossible and whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth. And in all things, the simplest answers are the best. Finally, might I suggest a little mental therapy for your delusions of grandeur thinling this giant machine called government gives a rat's ass about you? You are a very small spec of dust in a giant machine and if they really were after you as you think, you would have been silenced long ago in one of many ways, the least objectionable of them being you'd have been grabbed and shipped off to a sefret prison somewhere with anyone who knew you getting a stern warning about ever breathing your name.

now i see this on my control panel and i do not quite understand it. there is a "max" line but it seems like i am always going above it. does that mean i am exceeding some kind of limit on cpu usage? and what is cpu usage on a shared server? if they are swapping your process in does all the time taken to move the memory around count towards your cpu usage?

it seems a little low. what is it like 0.4 seconds per day? the per hours minute max line is too low to even see. or is this max line something else? i do not understand...

my process was not runaway at all, but it is a probably inefficiently programmed piece of code that downloads an rss feed with possibly hundreds of entries and tries to parse them all and store them in teh database. so maybe it seemed to the server like it was running away.

what could have possibly blew your speakers out? the youtube videos in the media section? you have to click them to play them, and they are embedded so the audio volume is set by youtube.

other than that there is no audio. or are you telling me you heard some audio somewhere on my site? can you explain what you are talking about?

when the page first loads or continually? that is kind of strange. the page does use a lot of javascipt and particularly when it first loads... that is weird that you are hearing all that noise though.

but after the page is fully loaded, nothing should be running, so there shouldnt really be anything causing noise, unless your browser is having trouble rendering all that text onscreen at once for some reason... it is kind of confusing.

sad news the indy section will not be as great as hoped. to be honest i dont even know if my server issues were due to resource usage from that news aggregator. but just in case it is, i decided i will aggregate the news on my computer, then just upload the news after it has been aggregated.

this is unfortunate because now the indy section will be dependent on my posting to it, and will only be updated... maybe a few times a day, or even less. when it was hoped to be updated all the time with new news.
