The man who cannot be named was on for a flying solo as he raced up the board and cut a swathe through the Balkans, Austria Italy and Southern Russia. Somehow France and Germany overcome their squabbles over England to a quality defence and got a thoroughly well deserved draw. The clincher was Autumn 1910 with the fall of Warsaw and the march on Moscow which brought an end to the Sultans Northern European ambitions. Good game, hope to see some other point scorers next game :-)

@bo_sox, yes you were the only reason I had Warsaw instead of Germany in the first place. My solo chance would have been even less without your last effort there. Alas, I could not fully capitalize on it.

Well fought Nigee, I was disappointed at how quickly you forced me onto the stalemate line to protect Munich.

Same here, over extended my reach into Russia in the first half of the game and was promptly pushed back to St. Pete for the rest of the game.

Second game in which I was England, this time with a better result thanks in part to better relations with Germany. I was quite hopeful once I broke the stalemate line and with Italy playing cat-and-mouse with Austria in the southeast, alas it was too slow going and Austria had a few builds saved up that successfully halted my advances at Tunis.

That was bad of me stabbing my partner in crime Italy (LakersFan) and then chasing him from Ankara to Serbia, my punishment for the stab was to miss out on the solo but I could not get past Germany and just did not have enough fleets to take on the Western Med so apologies to Italy who played a great game and got nothing to show for it. I wouldn't be surprised if he's got his own back on me if one of the other games, I hope so :-). SoldierBoy you were streaming into the Med but I belatedly got myself 4 fleets which seemed to be enough to halt your Southern Seas ambitions. Apart from the injustice to LakersFan another good game, maybe not so much fun if you were crushed and bulldozed.

That game was crap, I really can't believe you thought stabbing me would help you solo. I blame France for trying to come east, which really screwed up my attempts to Lepanto.

If you're blaming France I'm supporting you ...... shame on you France !!

Naah. I still blame you for the stab. But had France stayed in the west rather than coming after my boot, I would have gotten more gains in Turkey, and would have not been such an obvious target.

Beating noobs is just as important as beating pros. Gotta pick out who knows what they're doing and act accordingly. So yea, it is your fault.

See, if I could talk about the game, I'd say exactly why that's a ridiculously dumb statement, but I can't /fuckrules

I'd love to see your complaint in more detail when the games are over and try to show you how my statement is definitely not as dumb as you think it is.

In the bigger picture of this site, it's not. In full press, you're 100% right. Gunboat can easily go the other way.

Sure, it's easier for a noob to throw a gunboat game at the expense of all players but the solo guy he enables, and that sucks. If you're good enough though, you'll be on the solo'ing end of that unfortunate scenario enough times to make up for it.

Naturally it's more fun to play when everyone knows what they're doing, but going into this tourney we all should've known it wasn't all top players in here. We're in Lando's gunboat tourney to experience top gunboat games with little to no bad players floating around.

It's not people throwing.. it's people playing too scared to assume the map has a clue how to play and focusing on such small portions of the map that other powers get out of control. If people play games in which other people can't tell them what they need to do, they should take the moves of the entire map into consideration rather than the person east of them or west or north or south. It happens way outside this tournament too... it's such a simple concept.

And I'm not in Lando's tournament... I'm trying to keep under 10 games for baseball which starts in March. I wish I'd joined it o_O

You're missing out. By far the best quality gunboat games I've ever been involved in, and will only get better if I'm fortunate enough to advance.

Once they're over, I've got my own 2 cents to add as well.
