Looking for a sitter
I will be away all weekends from now on so I can't constantly ask for a 3 day pause. So I'm looking for a sitter.
I'm in two games. one wta game with high pot (700+D), in which I'm almost defeated and a C1 summer league game (doing well there).
Anyone interested?

No wonder the economy of Greece has gone beyond the toilet with a work ethic like that.

Burgalveist I'm the hard working type of Greek person.
You can imagine what the rest are like.
Now you can crawl back to your hole and live your American dream.
Just don't try imposing to the rest of the world.
Noone gives a shit.
Burgalveist (100 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
I'm not American, I've told you before. I remember you though you may not remember me. You are a ridiculous and strange little person. You seem to think internet anonymity makes you invulnerable and powerful. Why you need to spread so much hate and negativity is a disturbing mystery to me. Nobody cares who you are or what you do, you're not a real person to any of us. And lucky for you, your nose would have been broken a few times by now I'm sure for that mouth of yours. But I'm sure you're not so outspoken in person. I bet you were bullied or something as a child.
Burgalveist (100 D)

I'm amazed you even tried to ask for help here, nobody likes you. I was going to accept just so I could mess it all up for you, but I decided that was beneath me.
hellalt (40 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
Burgalveist so I guess anonymity only works for me while you post with your real name.
let me guess.
first name Burgal and last name veist?
You are the stereotypical type of person who pretends to keep your sense of morality online but in reality you are just a hypocrite who surfs the net searching for child pornography.

I asked for a sitter only because people in my games had me ask.
Now I can tell them "too bad, none found" and they will have to pause the game
get it? ;)

Your yearly take home pay is less than minimum wage here. You go, big man, you've certainly proven how valued you must be. Do you offer fries with your legal advice?
Burgalveist (100 D)

12,000 euros a year is nothing. I have a shitty job and I make more than 3 times that. How does one even survive on that?
hellalt (40 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
the rent here is 300euros per month...
Like I said I get paid 12.000 euros for working around 80 hrs per month.
that's 12.5euros/hour.
I think that probably beats your salary per hour stratagos.
And no I only serve fries to your mother.
Only after I have sex with her of course...
:-)

btw I have found a sitter.
So no need continuing this.
You have already proven how pathetic and small you are.

That's like ten bucks an hour. Federal minimum wage is 7.50. I suggest you stop while you're *behind*, you're just embarrassing yourself.

I haven't made ten bucks an hour since I worked retail. Hell, I think I made 6.50 when I was 16 years old
hellalt (40 D)

"Federal minimum wage is 7.50. "
what's the federal minimum rent dumbass?
I suggest you stop while you're *behind*, you're just embarrassing yourself.

drano019 (1003 D)

Stratagos, it's actually more like 16 dollars/hour. But still, I just graduated college and I make 23 dollars/hour. Heck, I averaged 15 dollars/hour caddying when I was 14.

I have to say, while some people manage to amuse or even irritate me, like Draugnar or abgemacht or ava2790 or jamiet99uk, you stratagos are just shallow and boring.

@hellalt - I have 28 years as a software developer. I negotiated that three weeks at my last job. You are what, 30 maybe? Been doing your lawyer stuff for all of 5 or 6 years? and you don't "get" vacation if you are an independent lawyer, not salaried counsel for a corporation. You don't get paid when you take it so you take as much as you want. Most US employees your age don't have the priviledge to negotiate an extra week of vacation.

And first it was " And I earn about 12.000 euros per year working around 20hrs per month." Now it's 80 hours per month? You can't even keep your fucking lies straight asswipe.

Again, I say, with your attention to detail, I'm glad I'm not one of your clients. But I guess you get what you pay for. Oh and 12.50 euros per hour translates to maybe $20 per hour. Most colleg grads here start their first job out of school making that much.

I do have one big question though. What does 300 euros a month get you? That's a little over $450 per month her and is what you can typically get a one bedroom apartment in an OK part of town for in the midwest. But some of us aren't satisfied with one bedroom or an OK part of town, so we own homes in the country and are willing to spend $1200-$1500 a month in the midwest or we spend even more for a loft or a highrise condo downtown (or if we are truly well off, we go for the Manhattan million dollar skyrise two floor condos with another country home for the weekends).

And drano, figure the hourly in Euros and multiply by 1.5 He makes 12.50 per hour which is about $18.75. I just rounded up to $20 to make the math easier for Hellalt's feeble little brain.
Burgalveist (100 D)

My house is big and it's $1300 a month. And I can manage that, I don't make as much money as I should because the money I save paying myself goes back into the business and then it's better for everybody. I have 18 year old kids here straight out of high school, and some still in school, that make more than a Grecian Lawyer supposedly makes in a month.
Burgalveist (100 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
I have friends that make between $85-$120 an hour in the oilfield. Sometimes they earn that just sitting in a truck and yelling at people. Some of these people don't even have High School Diplomas.
hellalt (40 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
Draugnar ok you convinced me.
I know that in USA people with little or no education can get ten times more than I get.
But here the common wage is 900 euros per month.
I just manage to get it without having to work 8 hrs per day.
I consider this a success.
Also, I'm the youngest self employed lawyer that I know of in the whole country (no exaggeration here).
And I made that without any help from my parents (most young lawyers here have set clients through their parents' office)
None of my friends work independently.
ffs none of the lawyers my age don't even have the courage to take one case without help.
I spend 150euros per month for google ads.
90% of my income as a lawyer comes through internet and of course that makes me feel not only smart but extremely special.
I'm 30 years old and my site brings me more customers than the most experienced old lawyer in Greece (no exaggeration here too).
It's easy to compare when everything works out great for you.
Try putting yourself in my shoes and think if you could have done it better.
I strongly doubt it.

@Burgalveist - Ah, an independent business man. IT consulting is nice because you don't have any overhead short of your electronics and software. I like subcontracting on a per hour W2 basis, but I also do some 1099 work where I charge about 50% more per hour to cover the extra taxes that come with filing an IT-1040. I pay $1100 for a 1600 sq ft (main floor) ranch with a 1200 sq ft unfinished walk-out basement. One of these days, I'll finish it into a poker and pool room, but not until after the next tax evaluation by the county. :-)

Burgalveist I don't envy uneducated people that get 1.000.000$ per hour.
Money doesn't bring happiness.
If you are a moron you will probably lose it in booze or casinos anyway.
With my 12000euros per year I can manage leaving alone, paying for myself, doing whatever pleasures me and going on domestic vacations a few weeks and two 5 day trips in Europe per year.
That's all I need. I don't really need more.
Draugnar (0 DX)

@Hellalt

I payed for my own education, working a full time and part time job (the state doesn't pay for education beyond high school in the US) after I got out of the Marine Corps.
I lived on my own the entire time I was in school.
My parents haven't paid a dime of my living after I left home for the Corps.
I was married and taking care of my wife at 23.
By the time I was 30 I was "making my age": 30K per year. That is the equivalent to 30K euros a year today or 2.5 times what you make.
By 35, I was making almost 45K and bought my first Corvette.
By 40, I was making over 70K.
This year my taxable income will be in excess of 95K with all my client's, not just my primary one.

So yeah, I think I can (and did) do better than you. When you are 44, we'll compare your progress with where I am today.
Burgalveist (100 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
I'll concede, Hellalt, that does sound great. But some of us need to do more than just survive. And losing it all to booze and casinos? Let's add in hookers and strippers (difference?) and drugs, and more alcohol. Afterall, I live in the promised land of Alberta. Where idiots and nobodys get rich quick, and the rich get even richer.
...fuck, I need more popcorn.
Burgalveist (100 D)
26 Jul 10 UTC
Also Hellalt, I'm only 26, and I run a 45,000 sqft. shop and I'm tripling your earnings while making only about 60-70% of the salary I'm supposed to be making. I don't think I even graduated from High School. Not sure. This is how nobodies become somebodies. Mind you, I work a lot more hours than you do. I can appreciate the comfort in that.

Martial law in the deep south?
Rumor mill speculates a forcible evacuation from the gulf coast.
Normally I dismiss martial law rumors pretty quick, but given the toxicity of the water, beaches, and even air from texas to florida (some symptoms of corexit (sp) poisoning as far north as N carolina (unverified) I think this is a real possibility
What do you think?

The Tales Today That Will Be Classic Legends Tomorrow
We look into the past in the West and see a lot of heroes and stories and mythologies that still are important to us today. The Epic Of Gilgamesh. The Old Testament of Adam and Eve, David, Moses. The Iliad, Oddysey, and Aeneid. The Oedipus Cycle. The New Testament and The Story of Jesus. The Arthurian Legend. The Arabian Knights. Robin Hood. We have so many franchises and stories and sagas today- which ones will be/should be remembered and revered as classics in the centuries to come?

This Time On Philosophy Weekly: Science vs. Ethics: What's Wrong With
It's the tale as old as time, "scientific progress" vs. "what's right." On the one hand, we have stem cells and other such biological and engineering works that could potentially improve life for mankind drastically, cure diseases, make man stronger, more versatile...man can literally improve his design. But then you have the other side, and the powerful question, "Who are WE to play God and alter such things?" Should we be afraid of "playing God?" Is there a line? If so, what?

How did you first learn about Diplomacy?
One of my History teachers in middle school had our whole class play it. I think we were making two moves a week or so, and his plan was to actually grade us on how well we did. I was Germany and was kicking ass... until someone snuck into the classroom one day after school was out and knocked over all the pieces. Our teacher hadn't written down the positions so the game just ended. It was lame, but some friends and I started playing on our own.
