In all seriousness though, it does help that I often play against fell old-timers, who are all really good. Can't imagine what the GR of our current gunboat must be like Draug - Flashman,Ghostmaker,Anlari,Otto are all in there.

Second, echoing jimgov's question, when do these become accurate? There are guys in the top 100 with ten games or less. I'm sure they've done quite well in those few games, but as the ratings only become completely accurate after an infinite number of games, shouldn't their high rating be taken with a grain of salt?

hmm.... i jumped from 29 to 15... and before that I was at 13... i'm getting the feeling that either the competition has become much more fierce recently, or that there is an undue amount of variance in the ranking system somehow... dunno how that would be, but seems like the top 30-50 spots have a lot of fluctuations no?

Not so. That would be true if people were of constant ability, but they're not. People get better and people get worse. Clearly there will be variance, but even so you can't expect people to have constant ratings.
I would suggest as I mentioned above that 10 games is probably enough, but really you should take into account the length of time between those games. Someone who's played 15games in the last two days is more likely to have an accurate rating than someone who's played 6 in the last 6 months.

Wow, 2 games and I've jumped 23 spots. #60. I'm happy with that. Just have to break the 300 mark in my rating. I have a feeling those 2 games were draws...

Plus I've overtaken MerekP! His rating seems to have dropped considerably from it's peak...

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that a lot if this fluctuation is due to the amount of live games now being played.

Biggest position drop: Onar by 9535 places. (Ouch, bad month Onar!?)
Biggest position gain: jeromeblack up 11,134 places to 359! played 41 games this month! Addicted much!?
Biggest ratings drop: hellalt by 76ish! Ouch. That's going to effect your World Cup odds!
Biggest ratings gain: raapers by a very nice 206ish getting 35th position. One to watch guys! Any challengers?
stormyweatherman played 63 games this month! That's more than 2 a day! Wow! And he's a new entry! (crap rating though, so maybe quality, not quantity...)
10,884 new entries this month! Wow, although more than 10,000 haven't finished a game yet.

Woohoo! Third straight month in row that I jumped more than 1000. Can't happen anymore though. :| (I don't know how else to do a melancholy face)

I've played 80 games so far, with nine going right now. I'd say my 305pts GR (52 rank) is legit. SOW beat me though, =(

So is there a particular rating you should have before starting to play in the leagues?

Do ghost ratings take into account all of your games or only the last 20 or something?

Wow, 35th? And I'm still not exactly sure what a ghost rating is... can anyone help with a more simplified explanation?

And how will our results in these new variants influence our ghost ratings?

I just noticed there is a player on that list whose name is "exspymann" - rather similar name to my own. I don't know why but I think that is weird.
