chat bug?
I hope this is the place to post
I'm using IE8 (at work, no choice to change)
many time when I am typing in the chat box (and just now in this box) the focus seems to jump to the browser window itself. This is mid-type, so ann the keys I press to type seem to get sent to the browser as shortcut commands.

Wait, what? How did that thing evolve!?

"miracles require God, God is illogical. wrong, pal, just wrong."

Can you explain to me why miracles require God, otto? And please explain to me how God is illogical because you don't make any sense in saying that.

Once again, Triskelli is my hero! I've been saying all along that only hard ass atheists (who refuse to accept *anything* on faith) and hard ass religious fanatics (who won't accept Genesis as an origin *story* for early "civilized" man to be able to comprehend the, at that time, incomprehensible) believe the two are mutually exclusive.
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Seriously otto, you're looking like a fool saying God is illogical justification when some of the greatest minds in history haven't come to a conclusion on
ottovanbis (150 DX)

@ Acosmist, what the fuck is the link for? I have no fucking idea what it's about? What's your point?

paraphrasing the God Delusion by Dawkins and many other logical arguments associated with it, IF MATTER/ENERGY CANNOT BE CREATED OR DESTROYED HOW THE FUCK IS THERE A GOD?
Apparently you can hear through one nerve connected to something that can vibrate, which is believable. The whole result of the human ear is unlikely, and I'm still waiting for a good answer.
dave bishop (4694 D)

I had to debate in biology that evolution should NOT be taught in schools recently... very fun debate and its possible to make a decent case for it.

The fact is that evolution is faith just as much as creationism... just faith in scientists. (more likely to lie than priests)
Triskelli (146 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
I apologize for implying that you were an atheist, otto. I was referring to people who are just as extreme in the disbelief of God as others are in their convictions
Paper_Markets (100 D)

Zazamarandabo, of course the tiny, useless steps are useful - they enable the next tiny, useless step.
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
you begin to form a circular argument of false logic when you become a theist and make the leap over to the side of arrogant belief. i am agnostic, but i lean towards atheism. to say that i am 100% sure there is not God would make me the same as those I despise
denis (864 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Now this is a rational arguement that I can't answer! Well first of all let's rule out any presence of a man in the clouds making everything the way it is and do this logically.
Anyone? I'm stumped
Paper_Markets (100 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Triskelli: Wait, are you telling me this ISN'T 4chan?
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@otto - if you are an agnostic, than you accept there may be a higher power? Could not that higher power have guided our evolutionary development? If you don't believe any kind of God is possible, then you aren't an agnostic. You are an atheist.
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
t@Otto
the point of god is he makes the rules, he doesn't follow them himself!
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
i'm not basing assumptions off the slight, very slight possibility that there is a higher power. to believe that there was an orgasm of energy that created the universe and to believe that that orgasm is intelligent are also two separate things you have muddled together quite illogically
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@dave: that's a bunch of bullshit!
Paper_Markets (100 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
dave bishop: actually, that's wrong. You don't have to break the rule if, when you write it, you make a loophole stating that it doesn't apply to you.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
To believe that the beauty I see around me in the trees and that my own (and not just mine, all of ours) intellect are mere accidents is folly.
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
i'm essentially an atheist then, but i am not arrogant in my conviction. denis will back me on how ridiculous that supposition is. ludicrous even.
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
oh, thanks for the detailed enlightenment.
There's not way the universe could have begun without creation of energy.
The energy of a vacuum shows electrons do appear from nothing momentarily in vacuums
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
another nice big assumption from draugnar, i'm sick of this, out
Triskelli (146 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Well, I have to disagree with you on scientists. Scientists are paid to discover the truth, in workable ways. We can simulate evolution in models. Random combinations can produce desireable results.
Paper_Markets (100 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
So the electrons are writing the rules?

I KNEW IT! IT WAS THEM ALL ALONG! WE'VE FOUND THE CONSPIRACY!
Triskelli (146 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Man, the posts fly fairly quickly fast
Paper_Markets (100 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
No, scientists are paid to discover awesome sciency things, such as how to shoot huge missiles into space and how to build giant lasers that can melt people from the other side of the world and how to split atoms to create massive nuclear explosions.

Grammarians are paid to invent new words for "big" with which we describe the results of science.
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
The real conspiracy is the contraction/expansion of time and space when things travel near the speed of light... and quantum randomness... now those things are really crazy
Triskelli (146 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Too fast for me to proofread...
Paper_Markets (100 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
Quantum randomness? No such thing. That's just what they want you to think.
ottovanbis (150 DX)
31 Dec 09 UTC
if you believe logically in a god you better believe in quantum randomness and the constant expansion of the universe, it's the only logical explanation of god that's not oversimplified as zaza has attempted to submit
dave bishop (4694 D)
31 Dec 09 UTC
@triskelli They may be wrong, they may exaggerate evidence to prove a case they believe to be true. There are cases of evidence being faked to prove an ape to man evolution theory.

possible meta gaming
i'm playing as Germany in gameID=18134 and received the following from England: "sounds like a plan... wizard. who is this?" as if he expected to know me outside of webdip. To me this indicates that the user expects to know AT LEAST one other player in the game, which obviously puts me at a huge disadvantage. please take the appropriate steps to rectify this.

Would like some commentary. Russia did not submit orders first turn, so I got the better hand of the Juggernaut. Took Tunis before Eng can set-up the traditional stalemate. Also Rus tricked Eng a bit. Stabbed Rus for a solo.
