Bug: Supporting unit adjacency error
Fleet in Aegean Sea. Fleet in Greece. Army in Serbia.
If using the Aegean Sea fleet to support a move into Blugaria by either of the other two units, the 'support move from' dropdown gives the option of Smyrna (which is not adjacent to Bulgaria) instead of Serbia and Greece.

So, I think it would be fun to start a game between my dental school colleges, but I am nervous about the ramifications of all the backstabbing and lying that is a part of any good Diplomacy match. Thoughts?

Order JS code
I've got this message "Order JS code has been updated...." What does it mean? I'm playing my first game. I tried to play an (second) live game, and was told I went into CD while I sat drinking scotch waiting for the game to begin. Is there a better way to interface? Am I missing something?

2012
What do you think about the topic of the end of the world? People are thinking that the world will end in 2012 because that's when the Mayan calendar ends.
What do you think of 2012, and if you think its true how do you think the world will end?

We've got commies and anarchists and religious nuts here, I don't think we need wacky New Age loons too.

Nothing will happen.
"And so the Mayans said " F*&k this" and decided not to keep making the calander"

You hit the nail on the head. Nothing will happen.

The nice thing about New Age loons is that they don't have a lot of fight in them. The spew out some mystical garbage and when someone forces them to defend their position, they just wander off and try to heal themselves with tuning forks or something...

This is irrelevant but did you know there is something called the Web Bot that is supposed to crawl the internet and collect info about the collective unconsciousness of the world predicting disasters?
This is crazy.

@hellalt

As to your post about Project Camelot, did you notice this under their mission statment:

"• Our focus includes but is not limited to the following:
• extraterrestrial visitation and contact
• time travel
• mind control
• classified advanced technology
• free energy
• possible coming earth changes
• revealing plans that exist to control the human race."

The nice thing about the Internet is that anyone can make a website. The terrible thing about the Internet is that anyone can make a website.

Here's what happened.

One day all the Mayan calander people got to December 21st, 2012 and decided to take the week off or something because they got to another December 21st. During their week off, the Spaniards showed up and suddenly they had bigger worries.
Even if the world DOES end, the only people that are going to survive are the people on the I.S.S. (assuming the postapocalyptic planet is habitable)
wedge is exactly right.

"Some scientist are saying that around that time not exactly that date the planets are to allign. At least that is what one paper said."

Planets have "aligned" before. It didn't cause the San Andreas to rupture. It didn't cause the moon to fall out of orbit. It didn't even cause a noticeable effect on tidal levels.

I despair with the lack of basic scientific knowledge in the world today. Gravity is for more than just keeping your butt in the chair, people!

I picture a Mayan priest in his cubicle just before the Mayan empire collapses, with an administrator stopping by, with the following discussion;
"So, Spotted Lizard Thing - how's that calendar update coming? We need something to get us past 2012."
"It's almost finished, Smoking Hair Piece. I'll have it ready next week. Say - have you heard any more about that kingdom off to the west? I've heard they've got a pretty good-sized army."

Actually it sounds like 2012 isn't even the right year...

http://science.slashdot.org/story/09/10/26/1517242/2012-a-Miscalculation-Actual-Calendar-Ends-2220

But really the Mayan Calendar just resets at the end, I don't think there's any indication that they thought it was the "end" per se. (Though our poor understanding of their written language is a big part of the problem, and leaves lots of room for people to misinterpret things).
C-K (2037 D)

I'm telling you that they don't predict the end of the world but the end of a time. I also never said I believed it I just tried to explain it's meaning. Astrologically it is a significant moment but that doesn't mean we're all going to die. I don't think that's what they meant. That's the interpretation by some people.

What did you mean by this statement?

How long is the Long Count exactly? Modern humans have been around at least 65,000 years, so unless it's ridiculously long there's been an 'end of time' before and we're all still here.

@ C-K:

"If YOU don't even believe it, why start a thread about it??"

I didn't. It was started by California. See his name there on the right beside the title?

@C-K

"Not true. The precision cannot be matched and this calender is more accurate than ours."

That's what I read somewhere. I'll try to find something about it. I only wanted to say that I think people were misrepresenting this subject and being quick to make extreme conclussions and others to jump on these to write the whole thing off when it's actually quite interesting. Astrology is the bases of it and a calender is suppose to end and restart isn't it?

Astrology is not a science though. The Mayans created their calendar based on astronomy. It's a very important difference.

@ C-K: "I didn't. It was started by California..."

My bad, I apologise.

In any case, all of this is bullshit. The world will not end in 2012.

That's true. I did mean to type astronomy but didn't. Good thing you're smart enough to understand what I meant huh.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
29 Oct 09 UTC
@ C-K: "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Doomsday_prediction"

Hmmm. To quote from the wikipedia article to which you refer:

".....The forecast is based primarily on what is claimed to be the end-date of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, which is presented as lasting 5,125 years and as terminating on December 21 or 23, 2012. Arguments supporting this dating are drawn from a mixture of amateur archaeoastronomy, alternative interpretations of mythology, numerological constructions, and alleged prophecies from extraterrestrial beings."

Amateur archaeoastronomy?
Prophecies from extraterrestrial beings?

Bull. Shit.
Jamiet99uk (808 D)
29 Oct 09 UTC
Can I also quote further from that same Wiki article:

"The idea of a global event occurring in 2012 based on any interpretation of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar is rejected as pseudoscience by the scientific community, and as misrepresentative of Maya history by Mayanist scholars."

So people who have actually made a proper, scholarly study of the Mayans and their calendar are of the opinion that this is all bullshit.

Perhaps we ought to be guided by their expert analysis rather than the new-age rambling of a few astrologers and other nutjobs?

Anyone having unit build bug orders?
This is the second time since the orders entering update that I've built an army when I was almost positive I had issued a fleet...

I'm not one to complain about this usually, but it just seems suspicious. Anyone else having this problem, or am I just completely inept?
