bump, bump, bump in the night.

In my very first game I did strive,
All I wanted to do do was survive,
But I teamed up with the Turk
(Which never could work)
And I was out of the game by '05.

For next game, I decided to mellow,
Allied with th'Italian fellow,
'Cross Europe I rolled,
What a joy to behold!
Over half of the map Turkish yellow!

I’ve been insulted and then stabbed
And my Balkans have been grabbed
Could’ve cried when an ally failed to sign on
A great position now all gone
But no one really died, ‘cos you see
If life’s a game…It’s Diplomacy.

For my first game on here, I was Italy,
Doing very very well and stabbing most wittily.
Than an ally I thought I had known quite well,
Obviously thought I should go to hell.
Within a few turns, I found myself dying,
And realized the source of my pain was his lying.

There are an impressive amount of poets that play this game. I wonder if we were all meant to be warrior poets/bards of the highest skills:)

I don't know about 'highest' skills LanGaidin. Perhaps yours could be described as much, but I prefer to refer to my poetry abilities as approaching a state at which someone unfamiliar with genuine poetry may potentially consider it a skill. By then they change their mind.

In a great game I played many years ago,

The game's begun, I need a drink
A glass of wine I start to think
A Tuscan wine sounds good to me
So I'm off to conquer Italy.

That Sangiovese hit just the spot.
But quenched my thirst, I think not.
A nice Bandol from Provence.
So now I'm off to ransack France.

Now wine is good for most affairs
But too much gets me nasty stares
So ale will fill my tummy well
It's England next in line to fell.

I think it's time for something stronger
Though I'm not sure I'll last much longer
It's off to Oktoberfest I go
The Germans I must overthrow.

Beer then liquor makes you sicker
To that I just sit and snicker
Vodka shots, I'll take them straight
The Russians I will subjugate

To Austria I now must trek
One last country left to check
On invitation of the Duke
But wait, I think I have to puke.

Sorry, trying different rhyme schemes. Just bear with me, this is the only chance I get to use the artistic side of my brain. The rest is all mathematical and linear.

You show a surprising facility with Language, LG.

@Friendly Sword and LanGaian - say what you want about skill or lack thereof, I composed a near-perfect sonnet in 5 minutes on a ridiculous topic. So, you know.

No idea what Zines is, but cut and paste away. I just want a share of royalties if any of these increase sales of Diplomacy (board game version of course).
