Game Variant: Declaration of war
I wanted to check the opinions (and maybe gather people interested) to try out something. Haven't check if such variants are already out there and have been tested - would appreciate all feedback.

What ever happened with Hicham and Tux (12966 and 12967)?
There was a post earlier today that is completely gone about their suspicious consecutive numbers and they nearly every game one is in, so is the other. That post is no where to be found although older ones that haven't had new messages since then are. So what happened?

phpDip Mobile?
Anyone have trouble accessing this from a phone? I'm using a Blackberry Storm 9530 and whenever I view a game board my chat just appears as a long list instead of having its own window with its own scroll-bar. It will go behind the map, so if I haven't talked with the person much their message gets hidden. Then it will continue down, overlapping with order information, etc. as far down as it has to.

Anyone else had anything like this? More importantly, anyone know the fix?

My other concern is, the Juggernaut could prompt a 'global' alliance of sorts against Russia and Turkey. And in such a scenario I would have the Brits and Germans breathing down my necks, while Turkey with its fine defenses is much more capable of surviving such a scenario.
Pandarsenic (1485 D)

[T] To be sure, but I think a simple alliance against Austria followed by a cease-fire (or, quite possibly, a radical reworking of alliances) wouldn't be too bad.
Russia, more fronts means more to defend, yes, but with your south covered you have enormous opportunities for expansion.

Wait, wait.
I got this

People other than Russia: Don't worry, I'll stab him
Russia: Don't worry, I won't stab you. :D

Well greetings from the British Isles everyone!

I do sincerely hope that I can work well with some, if not all of you.

We've heard a lot from the east, why don't we in the west work out some sort of agreement, or disa\rgeement if someone proves unreasonable.

Personally, I think balance of power is best, and I offer to take Belgium to equalize power between France and Germany. That way all three of us have the potential for two centres each.

I would be delighted to therefore agree to a ceasefire in the north with Russia as well, predicated on my not putting an army in Norway, and Russia declining to put an army in St. Petersburg.

Any responses?

Well shoot, maybe instead of fueding over here in the west, we pull an eastern triple.

Hello! This is my first public press game, and I'm kind of excited about it. This is also my first time playing Italy. All kinds of firsts! And Pandarsenic >>HEY ITALY WANT SUPPORT FOR A CONVOY TO GREECE?

YES. THAT WOULD BE NICE. ;)

Seriously though, I'm willing to work with just about anyone. It'll take me a little bit to get the feel for global press, but I'm always open to negotiation about anything.

almost anything.

[A] Dear chalks, as you may have noticed turkey thinks that you are austomatically his ally in this game. Shah and I were planning a turkish "cleansing" movement to keep him from being a annoying flanker. At the time, since Italy was CD I had thought about taking over italy but I think I will be happy to just take over Turkey. So I hope you can keep your offensive movements headed westward, instead of back towards me. I shall keep mine east and away from you and I believe we can remain allies throughout the game.

Excellent, very excellent Russia.

And welcome Italy! I wish you good luck this game, and I was wondering.

Since I haven't heard yet from France, I'm wondering if you would consider a mutual protection pact? ie., if France attacks one of us, its as if he attacked both of us.

This is of course disregarded if either of us are the agressor and attack France's centres first.

I would rather Italy does not get isolated, as sometimes happens in public press games :)

[A] How about we all make asmililar pact, for example. If Turkey attacks me, by following the pact, I have the right to attack him back. Do you guys follow that kind of?

hmm, this is tough. I have a feeling Italy is hard enough to play in a normal game, let alone public press. ;)

[Italy]
Turkey, I'm open to watching your back, especially since it seems that both Austria and Russia are scheming against you. However, Curly, this doesn't mean I'll be attacking you. I know a typical opening for Austria involves taking Greece, but if you're willing to let me have it, I won't move into Tyrolia. S.P.A.O., I'm not making any long term promises, but for now anyways, if you leave piedmont empty, I will as well.

Has Germany not said anything yet? Also, Shah, would you be up for the same pseudo alliance deal that England came up with? I.E. if Austria attacks me, you move against him, and vice versa?
xcurlyxfries (0 DX)
21 Jan 09 UTC
germany posted the link for a new player.

and Italy, theres not much he can do to help me if you attack me except grab as much as he can.

And schemeing + looking at a situation logically is 3 different things.

First off, the percentage of turkey to austria stabs are phenomenal where as the russian/ austrian stab ratios are varied.( you added to this statistic)

and italy toward austria stabs are also high, but not as high. ( I actually did a 3sc stab with italy vrs austria and won 753 daggers xD)

dont get any ideas though. So how can you blame me for being less then pleasent to my turkish neighbor? who right off the bat had us make deals over him when he could be just as easily disposed of.

Chalks (488 D)

[Italy]
I think I read Turkey's opening message a lot differently than you did. I interpreted it as "hi, I'm willing to work with people, but I'm cautious and not willing to show my cards too soon... why don't you guys show your cards first?"

>>and Italy, theres not much he can do to help me...
I wasn't asking him to help you. I was asking him to help _me_. I'm as selfish as the next guy. ;)

As for stabs, I don't like giving, or receiving them. That's why I'm offering to stay out of Tyrolia in exchange for Greece. It makes it harder for me to stab you, and let's you concentrate on your turkish and russian relationships. If all went well, I could probably even be convinced to leave Venice open (provided Trieste was too). If all of that is so distasteful to you, then I'd love to hear a counter proposal. As I said, I'm always open to negotiation.

Lots of small-pot WTA games
I'm setting up a bunch of small-pot WTA games, with various point-levels and timescales. Anyone wanting to play WTA is invited to join some. If too many take off, then I'll CD out of a few; I can't really cope with more than five turn finishes per day.

What are your favorite and least favorite countries to play as and why?
Favorite: France. You've got good sea room for fleets, and it has excellent position on defense. I was attacked by both England and Germany at the beginning of the last game I won. I was able to fight my way back up my country by myself and eventually win. First country I ever played as well.

Trying to set up games
I have been looking around for standard time gams (24 hours or something like that) but all I find are games with 5-10 point buyins. If anyone wants to try something a little more serious(40-60 points) post here. I made a game before but no one had joined it so it seems to me all the interest is either in tiny point games or in 100+ point games that I don't realy want to play yet.
