Cookie Monster Solutions
Instead of regulations, (YAWN), lets have unrestricted gun laws and limitless purchasing. The only rule is the retail employees *must* dress like cookie monster to make gun stores more kid friendly. Offer gun buyers a plate of CoOKiEs.

It's also a very "anti materialistic" form of Art, in that it generally defies becoming an object of monetary speculation.

ND has a painting I made. I have had offers from a few webdippers to buy a painting of mine.

Like, it's a bit sad that the reason this Da Vinci painting is news around the world is because some billionaire paid $US 400 million to purchase it. Maybe there should be a "charitable residual artist's rights" to works of Art and a percentage of the money goes to charitable causes.

Have you ever considered doing artwork inspired by Diplomacy ? For example going to a f2f competition to sketch and draw competitors playing Diplomacy ? A Botticelli type painting of Victorious Valis ? A Salvador Dali type painting of Demon Overload ?

I have done a number of paintings of maps.

This was based on the Icelandic volcano which grounded flights in Western Europe for a few-weeks.

I loved toying with the idea of islands with shared territories too.

https://www.artslant.com/ew/works/show/416895

Some of these works have been painted over numerous times. I was definetely interested in the way we were obsessed with Irans nuclear program. This was made from satillite images of where we think Iran is making nukes.

Coookie!

Speaking of Sesame Street, my idea of Diplomacy-inspired artwork would be a painting of me flipping bo_sox the Big Bird.

“Typical liberal hysterical exaggeration of something no one has actually said. “

Pretty sure that’s called satire.

Hey, I actually found that arts site thingy.... Dipbro Brainbomb, you have serious talent at the Art caper, imho. I got to see "Persistent Mormons" the "Thunderstorm" series...Lusk Wyoming, Nebraska, Chadron..they are GOOD STUFF.. The Spaces often Forgotten, Roamer, Former...Aspect of Rainier.. My Artistic Career...Those are the ones I liked. Plus..of course.. "Battle of the Artic Circle" & I twigged to the World game possible connection.. Although I may be wrong, because in real life, the Artic Circle is where global warming is really messing with wildlife etc..so the real Artic Circle is most deserving of attention from Artists.
Hot stuff..there was one picture.. Possibly The Spaces often Forgotten, that had an old shack with verandah on the left hand side of the composition, and it, for me, had an almost Australian Bush Hut feel to it/ reminded me of some Australian pictures of Bushmen's Huts a little bit.
I am so glad I looked those pictures up. Looking at them has made me much happier, and really put that vitriolic squabble into proper perspective.. As inconsequential.
That Battle of the Artic Circle picture looks, imho, extremely good.I'll bet it's a cracker in real life, the sort of painting I could have at for quite a while.
Thank you.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
17 Nov 17 UTC
No, the Bushman's But was on the right-hand side of the composition. I got excited describing it.

I picked up a DVD today that had been on order.."Les Vacances De Monsieur Hulot" & took in the little brochure that was in the "Playtime" DVD that arrived last week because the DVD distributor had "La Jour de Fete" listed & the chappy in the shop looked it up on his computer thingy, so it's ordered & paid for. It's all I needed, "La Jour de Fete" (1949) & I will have all five Jaques Tati classic films on DVD.. Hoorah. You are right Dipbro Brainbomb. I should try and ignore the squeaking fleas of this world.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
17 Nov 17 UTC
The four Tati film DVDs I have purchased over the last month have come from a variety of sources..Les Vacancies de Monsieur Hulot is from Bo Ying & has a fair amount of Chinese printed script on it, the Mon Oncle is also named Mein Onkel and obviously comes from a German distributor. Then Playtime is issued by The British Film Institute and finally Trafic is a Studio Canal (British ) effort.
...it used to be a problem for us in the Antipodes getting DVDs from Europe and North America, because they'd be coded for those regions of the world, not Australia, so you had to have a Universal disc player. Fortunately the newer Blu-ray disc players will play just about anything, and you can change the zone settings a virtually infinite number of times.

The only way it’s not satire is if brainbomb is being serious. He’s obviously not, and if you think he is you need to get a better grasp on Internet sarcasm.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

He is being seriously moronic as usual.

If that was an attempt at satire he failed. Also as usual.
TrPrado (461 D)

Exaggeration is a pretty strong satirical tool. You’re just upset because you disagree with the joke.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
17 Nov 17 UTC
Satire should be funny.

Funny is subjective, not just based on your definitions. I know that is a difficult thing for a liberal to understand, that your measure of something doesn't apply to the rest of the world.

His post was far from funny like the other numerous moronic threads he starts and fails at.
TrPrado (461 D)
17 Nov 17 UTC
Okay but you’re the one trying to say it’s objectively not funny lmao
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
17 Nov 17 UTC
No.

I am saying I didn't find it funny.

I am not speaking for others.

If you read it that way, that is a you problem.
TrPrado (461 D)

Hey I mean I’m not the one upset about it.

Jeff Kuta (2066 D)

If the satire isn’t funny, maybe the original premise (gun control is necessary and beneficial) is too dead serious to make fun of.

Mansplaining and manscaping
I heard people use the term mansplaining recently. It was negatively stigmatized but what does it even mean? Also I head people saying something about manscaping and I wondered if that was a type of yard work. Any input is appreciated.

What provisions are there in general for dealing with players who NMR on the first turn? Should we simply agree on a draw and try and rebuild the game with new players? Is there a way to bring in replacements?

New York is the best.
Now that I've gotten everybody's attention, would anybody be interested in playing a game of American Empire where everybody plays as the region that they are from? I think that might be kinda fun and could be a way to release some of this clearly geographical tension that is brewing in the forums.
I'd have to claim NY
