I'll admit my activities weren't the most impressive out there, but I did volunteer at my library for a semester, and I had a research internship at a Chinese university over the summer. I think my essays were decent as well, but this discussion has gone way off track. The topic I intended this thread to be about was the stuff being taught at these far left universities, not my personal educational future.

I also taught Chinese kids English for several summers.

Bottom line is Karl Marx is a hero. His ways will revolutionize a dying capitalist world. Socialism for all.

Lets talk about why Karl Marx was right. The working class is/was/always will be poor. This is unacceptable. A true capitalist system would allow people to pull up their boot straps and work and rise in the system.

The only people who would ever demonize socialism are people whos family stands to be part of levelling the playing field by forced econimic equality. Theyll always work to convince you that hard work pays off, theyll cautiously find false historical examples of bastardized versions of socialism to justify protecting their own familial standing.

China is far more capitalist than it is communist these days. The only reason they still call themselves communist is to provide a reason for the ruling party to stay in power.

I agree with Leon. China is also not a country I would want to equate socialism with. So I absolutely agree with Leon. :)

New Zealand is one of the most free market countries in the world. The only way in which we are socialist is that we give away our natural resources at way below market value. That's more corporate welfare than socialism though.

None of those countries are actually socialistic.

i got paid to attend my first college; the tuition was free; the meals were free; the dorm was free; my haircuts and laundry were free; and when i graduated they gave me a diploma, a commission, a big check, my first paid vacation and my first job. they even paid my relocation expenses.

also it was my number one choice school. furthermore it is more exclusive than harvard or any other ivy league school

Societies that utilize Marxist ideals have been and still are death societies. Furthermore, even when on one is 'shot' for their opposition to various revolutions, they are made to “leap forward” with the result of death from starvation or deprivation. The numbers of dead people from communist regimes now is pushing towards 100 million. That is the reward for following Marx’s bankrupt and corrupt ideas.
