It's not really hard to source that Trump said he wanted to ban a religion, since a) he quite plainly stated in a WH press release that he wanted to enact a "complete and total shutdown of Muslims entering the United States" and, b) Rudy Giuliani said on national TV that Trump himself called it a "Muslim ban."

banning muslims from entering the country (which I dont agree with ) is not the same as shutting down Mosques, which is how I would equate 'banning a religion" We do however need a MUCH better vetting system.

Shutting down mosques would be a step in the right direction. Personally i'd levy a massive fine on the nearest mosque for every terror attack for every life lost. That'd see terrorists thinking twice.

How would that make terrorists think twice? They don't care about Mosques. They care about turning Muslims against non-Muslims and vice versa, and fining mosques for terrorist attacks they have nothing to do with plays right into their hands in that regard.

They care about radicalising their faith. Mosques are important for that.
