Why not start a rousing discussion about the whether to keep the Electoral College or do away with it? We need a distraction from this wacky presidential election.

Vegas has them as +10 favorites vs Wisconsin in Madison. Ohio State hasnt played anyone worth a crap yet. I look for a low scoring game, Wisconsin wins 17-13.

Would anyone be interested in a Diplomacy Stream?
I recently got the version of Diplomacy published by Paradox Interactive (the studio that made Europa Universalis and similar games) working on my pc. I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in watching me stream a game or two vs the AI at some point (with commentary)?

Why no messages setting option?
Why is aviable the no messages setting? I think is against the essence of the game, that's diplomacy. Nevertheless this option is very common. I think Diplomacy without diplomacy is like basketball without basket (or ball if you prefer). What do you think about it?

Question of Electoral Ethics
For the district where I'm registered to vote, the US representative seat is only being sought by one person. By Oklahoma state statute, unopposed candidates don't even appear on the ballot, nor is there the opportunity to write-in a candidate. Do you think the name of unopposed candidates should be printed on the ballot?

Full Press Explanation
I searched the rules and the faq. I may be dense. I cannot find an explanation of what full press means. Also, is it illegal to send a PM to one of the players in a game if the players are not anonymous? For example, if I see the deadline ticking down and my ally hasn't put in orders, may I send her a PM to alert her that she might miss the turn?

@brainbomb - In several states there are now only one insurance provider offering plans on the exchange. So yes, Obamacare is, in effect, creating state-bound monopolies.

Obamacare is a bad plan, brain. We need some other way to deal with that uninsured population, but its murdering small businesses and those who have to pay for their own insurance. My dad is part of a small town law firm that pays health insurance for all its secretaries. Costs have gone up 40% since 2012 I think? Maybe more?

"Trump could have pulled out a gun and shot Anderson Cooper in the face and ND would still wanna suck his dick and say he won."

The main thought in my mind ALWAYS draws back to 2008.

Democrats in BOTH houses of Congress AND the Presidency. Where's the tax cut loopholes being taken away? MORE tax reconfigurations were even added that year!

That, Hillary couldn't answer, but Trump didn't press her enough on it. instead he moved on to frivolous things.

The only economic thing done was the ACA, which was half good and half bad.

Trump says "Completely repeal it" good and bad, because of the bad.
Clinton says "Keep it all!" good and bad, because of the good.

they each had a chance to take the undecided voter's choice, but neither firmly grabbed it, despite showing glimpses of moderation.

"@ND, what, in your mind, would have to happen on stage for Trump to lose a debate? I know from personal experience that it's hard to look at these things without bias, but I feel like everyone else here is at least trying, and you're declaring a clear, large-margin winner, which is simply not the case."

-You know, I thought he got off to an iffy start. He should have been more apologetic about the video, sure, but after that first 20 minutes it was Trump all the way. By extension, in the first debate he did well in the first 30 mins or so then did poor.

@brainbomb

NHS Scotland would NOT work in the USA. We have too large of a poor class that would pull down our economy. Scotland is much less economically diverse, with a much lower GINI coefficient than the US. If Obamacare didn't work, NHS programs wouldn't work any better

I think he would have.
And I gotta say as much as I dislike Trump (I'm Muslim) I would rather see him as president. His talk about intervention in Syria was music to my ears. He made a great point when criticizing Hillary's "experience" in the Middle East and her delusional calls to a no fly zone.

One redeeming quality of Clinton is that she is less anti-business than she claims she is. She'll be kept fairly accountable by the Democrats, while not completely screwing over corporations.

I switched to my laptop because this will be a longer reply than my phone can handle. "fuck google chrome update by the way".

I have not watched the other debates. I already pretty much knew what I was getting and why I was voting for her. The reasons I like Hillary are not because she is a Democrat. I'm voting for Hillary because she is the more capable Presidential Candidate.

Hillary is more shrewd, she is more capable of escaping pressure. She is a political mastermind, and some people think those are bad things. I would rather have Hillary as my President, where she can negotiate on behalf of people other than the super rich. (I realize some people think she is just in their pocket). I think Hillary from a moral standpoint is a good person. She stayed with her husband in spite of his mistakes. There are so few people who would do that in this society. (I realize some people think she did this purely for politically adventageous reasons). Regardless of how you feel about that, Look at the two candidates on that stage.

You have one man angrily pacing around, and pointing his finger at her, and calling her satan, telling people she should be in jail, and reassuring us that if we vote for him, he's gonna make sure shes in prison.

And then you have a woman, a mother, a wife, walking around talking about her record in office being called a waste of time. I'm not even gonna bother to go into her specifics but think about it from the point of view of the global stage. Does the world need a bully Teddy Roosevelt at this point? Are we really just conceding that America cant lead with a little bit of grace and cunning?

"Aleppo's fallen." A perfect answer. Shows he isn't interested in adventures outside the US. He truly does seem to believe that the best thing to do is to work with the Russians on terrorism rather than continue to fund other terrorists who have one difference between them and ISIS and it's that they don't publicize every freaking execution. I'll take Trump. I miss Bernie so much, but I'll take Trump.

@goldfinger0303 - I was seeing those types of increases before Obamacare. Plus if I switched to a cheaper plan I would have lost coverage of any medical conditions I had before the new policy. Until my mother was old enough for Medicare she wasn't covered for broken bones unless she was in an auto accident under that insurance coverage.

I got a refund one year under Obamacare that I never would have gotten under the old law.

I wonder what Trump was sniffing before the debate because he still had his nose problem. After the first debate the news services went back through weeks of speeches and found he's been doing in for over a month.

Brainbomb did you not see my Hillary rant yesterday? For the love of God how could you say she's a good person from a moral standpoint?? The hell?? If you like her than you like her and that's up to you. BUT you can't just say she's a good person when her history in foreign policy shows otherwise. She's a bad person. I wasnt talking about that. I was saying I felt that her standing by Bill, even after his infidelity shows her dedication to something bigger than just herself. To me that is the mark of a "fighter" didnt Trump refer to her as a person who "never gives up".

In my opinion Morality is very much on the side of this woman. She doesnt make every right decision. Politicians seldom get everything right, even my homeboy Obama could have done a few things better. But hes also a very good guy personally. And thats not even in dispute.

I like voting for people who are politicians, but also decent people outside of their politics.

-muted.

Also, thats about the biggest pot calling the kettle black moment of the night so far. ND trying to say I am non-objective about Hillary Clinton. I think ive made it quite clear what I like about her as a candidate. And I think its pretty obvious, like any politician, there are things I am not wild about.

If you want my honest opinion, I would "prefer" that she hadnt voted for Iraq. That was instrumental in my decision to vote OBAMA instead of Hillary in 2008.

Your answer to me may have been objective, ND, but only because it was empty, and much like your Donald, you ignored the truth of the past in making it.

You acknowledge he did poorly in the last debate now that it's the consensus, but at the time your reaction was identical to your reaction here. How can we believe that your "opinion" is actually adding anything to the discussion?

@Hannibal it sounds like you are implying that Hillary personally and solely ordered the destruction of Iraq... Libya? Im not even sure where else you are referring too. I seem to recall that everyone in 2003 other than a few wise folks made that mistake... And Trump also supported the war in Iraq lol.

To a larger point, America has been destroying countries since Teddy Roosevelt attacked the Phillippines. I cant stand it obviously. I hate war, but this is the reality of American politics. The obsession with inability to restrain use of force, as a means of "helping" regime change. Its stupid, it doesnt work, and it just costs everyone money.

Unranked games have counted towards GR
Hey just wanted you guys to know that GR has been broken for a while now, with unranked games being counted towards GR since it's been integrated.

Do not worry, I've already contacted the mods, and they are working feverishly to fix the problem and it should be fixed by the next GR update, but I felt that all of you should know. Hold on one second while I get my proof for this.
