Chaqa, send the mods an email detailing the time you want to run this game and any duties on your end, such as changing the phase length.

I'm tentatively interested, depending on scheduling, phase length, and press/no press (prefer the former).

World games between skilled players (almost) always end in draws due to the large number of stalemate lines, so no one will have 40+ units to order around. Still, even 10 minutes seems too short for 20 units if there's to be any press at all. I think a minute per unit (FRU in 5-minute increments) of the number of units of the player who is 1/3 back from first place would be a good way of assuring everyone has enough time and make things slightly harder for anyone who gets an overwhelming advantage early on due to the map imbalances. This would probably make the game too long to play in one day, though - I am open to amendments on my motion.

World game live with press would be ridiculous, and 10-minute phases from the outset would mean this takes over 12 hours for those that live that long..

Yes, but in a live game press would be wildly unmanageable. It's just not practical, and hence the reason I'm heavily leaning toward gunboat.

Would be interested. Prefer no press, or 10 minute phases with press (10 minutes is also better to fill all orders). Prefer in the weekend starting between 10UTC and 14UTC.

@Chaqa: I think you should see it as a gunboat with a bit of press when you can find the time as a bonus.

Also, let's say someone looks like he/she is going to NMR. Are you planning to pause the game every time someone gets below 10 seconds or something?

i think it is best if we just trust that people will ready as soon as possible and make it either ten minute phases from the very beginning or wfo. other than than, atc already said it: save early, save often.

If we go gunboat, we can require people to ready up.

I'll put my name down but this is really very tentative based on when it is actually played. Also, perhaps you could set up 2 player teams (player and alternative) ahead of time so player 1 could start and then if needed tap out to his designated backup. Perhaps then the list of fill ins wouldn't need to be as large.

Yes, and we can be lenient with that. Until it's reasonable that you not ready up, you should ready up. We all have a pretty similar point where this takes place.
