I've played Civs II through IV but not V so online play seems a little odd to me - is it fun in the new one? How long does it take?

It can take quite a while, you'll likely end up saving it multiple times if you want to play it through to completion.

So, you need to find someone that you can coordinate times to play online together?

Not as long as a multiplayer Paradox game :P. That said, I only played Civ IV multiplayer, not Civ V.

I've created a group for Webdip civ players, titled precisely that, which should make it easier for us to all find each other.

Joined, should be fun if we can get a game going. I'll just get some experience, since I don't believe I've done even 10 turns so far :-)

Luckily I'm a fast learner and this is the kind of game that's pretty intuitive to me (plus I played civ 4 although I can't exactly call myself a veteran of that game either), so I think I'll get along alright. I would like it if rules-questions are answered honestly of course but other than that, show no mercy because I'm new! :-)

Sounds reasonable. Most rules based questions in the game are pretty intuitive, but if you have any and we are in a game, just speak up about it, and I should be able to help answer too.

In multiplayer, does each person take a separate turn? I feel like that would take a really long time

I haven't actually tried multiplayer since Vanilla, when it was horribly laggy. Apparently this was fixed in BNW, but idk how long it takes now.

You can do simultaneous turns in multiplayer.

I still have holiday for a couple of days and I don't care wether it's day or night outside when it comes to sleeping so I could sleep whenever we can't play for example :-)

Well, I need to eat at some point, but any time from now onwards. BST, but I have the day off tomorrow so I don't care when I sleep either.

Hellenic Riot and I are waiting for Atrum to come from work so we can start a game with at least 3 hopefully, I'm catching some sleep and hoping I'll wake up by the vibrating alarm on my phone in 2 and a half hours or so :-)

@denis -- I normally play on level 4 and it's a challenge. I don't think I'm that good at the game though.
