I think the forum moderation has improved recently and a lot of people are making a lot of fuss about very little. I am not leaving, and that's that. SO THERE.

10,000 knights vs 10,000 samurais who will win *weapon hint one of them has a game changer this led to the destruction of both.

During the later medieval period (when samurai were getting their substantial experience in large scale battles against each other during the Sengoku Jidai), knights more often than not fought on foot without their large and vulnerable horses.

I would give the clear advantage to European knights. I can't imagine the flimsy leather armor of the samurai standing up well against a few blows from a broadsword, while European mail armor would stand up very well against a katana (which is a slashing, not a stabbing weapon - if used as the latter, I imagine it might have a chance of getting through a coat of mail, but this would require a complete change in fighting style).

"Knights on the other hand were an elite order, leaving many of the combat roles to peasants. Non-samurai did fight in Japan;s armies, but not to the extent of non-knights unless I am very much mistaken."

Samurai constituted a substantially larger percentage of the population in Japan than knights did in Europe. A typical knight would have some knowledge and experience with all the various combat roles, especially if he was a full-time professional.

Knights would win if it was 1 large battle. Samuri would win if it was mostly skirmishes.

The statement that Longbowmen and knights were equally matched is not necessarily true. The statement likely comes from Poitiers Crecy and Agincourt. However all of of those battles the Longbowmen took advantage of their general selecting the field of battle, the deployment of anti cavalry obsticals and rainy weather. Agincourt, seen as the longbowman's greatest victory, occurred because of a muddy, cramped battlefield that did not allow for traditional tactics used by armored knights and relied on them being greatly encumbered in the mud. They also nailed stakes into the ground in front of their positions to stop cavalry charge which was a western and Mideastern innovation. Crecy relied on guns and longbowmen, but again the English had the high ground, the ground was soggy, and had set up obstacles along the field to hinder the charge. Portiers longbowmen were mostly on flanks in support. The image of longbowmen cutting down ranks of French knights at full gallop is not quite the case.

In other words the longbow wasn't the perfect counter to the knight, it was a weapon that was marshaled capably by English Generals. I think Generalship would of course be important to the battle mentioned above.

Ok so heres the answer but before that 1 samurais used horses too. Ok the answer samurais would win because they could use muskets and canons the knights could not used them because they were knights plus a samurais sword is the strongest sword every created true fact.the swords would almost never shatter/break. The fact is about the muskets and canons during the waring states period of anciet feudal japan a samurai named nobunaga oda made the first japanese musket and canon brigades they used them to many take out samurai cavalry. Irony nobunaga was assassinated by a musket samurai. The same thing happened in europe but it wasn't the knights who killed the cavalry it was the foot soldiers/archers.

"the knights could not used them because they were knights"

In what sense?
THELEGION (0 DX)

Knights were mainly cavalry they almost all ways used melee weapons not really any long range but they would use a long reach weapon like spears but the fact is knights were mainly cavalry that was main position in a army yes they were the best of the best but they never really adapted to new tech which led to their down fall.
JamesYanik (548 D)
26 Jul 14 UTC
First, it is true that the samurai swords would never shatter but the armor samurai wore would never in turn break a knights sword, just as a katana is almost completely useless against full metal armor as well as chain mail. Second if you pull a Samurai had muskets out of the hat trying to be clever then you should realize in all technicality there are still knights today. I could see old sir Alex ferguson with an M4 mowing down samurai.

And the samurai during the kaibo period are way after the samurai in the traditional sense, so which is it, traditional knights and samurai or more modern? I give my edge to knights with each

The fact is after the tokugawa clan took over japan they modernized all of japan weaponry but of course they kept their old weapons because tradition, honor and culture was important to the samurai they didn't do anything unless they had a good reason. Plus let me add the canons into play. Knights never used them samurai did. they would used them to destroy anything really. They would even put them on their naval ships.
guak (3381 D)

Honor would be the downfall of the samurai. The knights would not fight fair and bring their AK47s

My friend has 2 brother who want to play this game. They live in the same house so they would all have the same IP address and I know your not suppose to know a person outside the game but they can't help it. But would that technically be violating the rules or not.

lawns and political alignment
Seeing krellin's lawn on google street view made me wonder, is there a correlation between use of dandelion herbicidal chemicals and political rightwingedness?

Furthermore, if there is such a correlation, could the cause of said phenomenon be resultant from the corrosive effect of stated chemicals on human neural systems?
