Nation Simulator- MkII
It is that time again - to see how the citizens of webDip would run a country. Let's plan on starting after the Mafia game, but we can get our ducks in a row now. We will need a volunteer(s) to help run the show. This could take some amount of knowledge and dedication, as well as an unbiased nature. Please respond if you are interested in helping or participating.

@ghug

"Oh shit it started. **VOTE HR because it's his fault I'm busy right now."

interesting you say that. If HR purposely decided to distract himself using mod training as a legitimate excuse, and it just so happened to fall in line with game start time, I'd say that that makes him look rather bad. Also using the timestamp of after 6pm EST of wjessop's thread, it proves that he got his role PM before modding the new mods.

This obviously means that HR purposely hired new mods in order to busy himself, justifying his lurking so that no one can question him. that looks fishy.

"Nervous? I'd be silent then."

I think we've caught our first scum. This was unnecessary information. This means that you're thinking about what would make you come off as nervous and deliberately changing this.

Hi everyone, except Yoyo. Sorry to be joining you in these circumstances and I wish DemonOverlord a speedy recovery.

I was never a Mario fan so if anyone wants to breadcrumb can you please not use flavour text crumbs as it will go above my head. I have some reading to do, See you in a few hours.

@y2k and brainbomb.

I cannot tell, how much time passed between these messages on page 2?
brainbomb
What is up with you this game. Thats the second time youve used the word purport on page 1. No really what is your deal right now?

y2k
Brainbomb is magnifying my scumminess and I'm not sure why

It's not particularly important right now, but I think if there was more than a 3 minute difference, this is a sign of y2k hesitation. Especially considering the fact that his response wasn't a particularly strong one. Just sort of a "omg stop picking on me bb"
Yoyoyozo (65 D)

y2k
"You're the one on a y2k crusade on page 1, talk about ridiculous."

I find this funny, coming from the guy that tunnels during every game.
Also, it's page one, and this quote is from page 2 why are you so concerned about votes? The last time I was this concerned was the first time I rolled mafia. I guess it's been a while, buddy? He literally questioned you for less than one page and you're acting offended by it, calling it "tunneling" nah son, you're definitely scum
Alright, sorry for the long absence everyone. Sad to see Demon go as well.

@krellin - apologies. I didn't really check on the game at all today. I keep timestamps on the vote tracker so people know as of when I've updated it. Should be up to date as of 4am EST.

A few things I want to point out:

teacon is obviously new, but it almost seems as though he's trying too hard and going out of the way to point that out. trip, who is also new, seems to being feeling the game out as well, but in a much more townish way. Just a gut feeling.

Another thing I find odd is DemonRHK's case on ND. It was flawed at best, horrible at worst. krellin then jumps onto it and gets into a massive OMGUS session with ND. It just strikes me as curious, and slightly scummy on the lot of them. But moreso krellin and Demon.

brainbomb needs to chill the heck out. Also, any scum reads on HR are pointless. The biggest town test for HR is not how he responds to our queries, its if he lives through the night. bb, since you've gone through every game, how many times has a town HR lived through night 1?

What I refrained from saying last night is this: there are clear scum voting patterns, even on day 1.
First, scum tend to be among the early voters. Those will be their talkative-town-looking point men.
Second, there will be some scum who anchor a vote and leave. Right now, I'm looking at Chaqa and Vecna doing that (and to a lesser extent xorxes and WD)
Third, we should be looking at some of the OMGUS fights happening. Its not a guarantee, but it is certainly possible that its two scum doing it.

And finally, ##VOTE captainmeme. I warned him. We cannot let lurking be allowed.

@ Vashta

"Good Morning Mushroom Kingdom!
It seems I'm a little late to...blah blah"

too long, didn't read. you need to learn how to be concise dude, I almost died trying to get through your essay. you do not need to elaborate on "Rule 6: Be Civil and Have Fun"

also " Rule 4: If you can’t lynch mafia. Lynch bad town." just doesn't make sense. You lynch who is most likely to be mafia. WHat does it even mean to not be able to lynch mafia?
Eh, I actually have more to say.

I'm not sure if we should lynch y2k. His playstyle is to appear scummy whether he's town or not, right? Lets sit on him until we can evaluate it more. I'm not saying that he doesn't appear scummy, but rather that appearing scummy may not be as indicative to his team as it would be for other players.

Honestly, I think we should lynch one of the first 5 people who voted. This is coming from the fact that I mentioned before that there is usually a scum among the early voters and among the people who anchor. I would be really interested to see from someone who has access to previous games' vote trackers how often a scum is in the first five votes. The first five right now would be ghug, brainbomb, y2kjbk, OB_Gyn and xorxes (not counting Jamie's little self-vote). A lot of these people are being scumread, and I'd feel ok voting on any of them except for ghug, who to me seems to be fairly town.
*to his team alignment*

And the first five lynch strategy is just an idea I thought of. Don't know much about its %chance of success compared to other day 1 strategies, but its probably better than the blind accusations and shitshow that took up most of the past 36 hours. Honestly, I feel as though hardly any productive conversation was had.
Vecna (890 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
Allright, new day, new playstyle.

Yesterday my initial plan going in was to just act obnoxious and make it very clear that I was trying to imitate my style of the previous game. Im surprised there are so few people that have actually caught up on that. Maybe they figured it was an obvious reaction-test, or maybe they're just lazy as fuck and aren't really trying to find scum.

Only 4 people were rightfully questioning me for it and scumreading into it. I approve of this conclusion.
-HR/BB/Vash/ND

Of these three, BB and HR appear the most sincere. BB is once again back to his emo style that he used as town twice before - completely the same, not sure he even could imitate this as scum if he tried, although he has proven to be resourceful. For now ill slightly townread him for it. HR uses his same approach as before, he knows I do this crap every start of d1 and change it around after. Seems all in-line with standard HR to me, although he's clever enough to do this so I don't suspect him. ND reacted very cautious after his tunneling fiasco from last game, not much to be gleaned from that but his caution is understandable.

Not so certain about the way vash approached it. It does feel somewhat off to me, but ill let it slide for now.

I dont like the way Krellin reacted to me at all. Trying to buddy up, being friendly, laughing about my jokes. Its just too much of a BB approach to buddying up to me. He also has continued his ultra-defensive play he adopted last game once he joined the scumteam. For now im reading him slight scum. All the more because he just JUMPS on warden for daring to suggest voting lurkers. His reasoning for tearing down the argument I just cannot agree with. Ill explain why below.

We nearly always mislynch a town on day1. We nearly always want to lynch the lurkers later on in the game. Lynching a towny day1 never gives us viable information, since the scum will be spread out and be on the second wagon as well. Did lynching demonRHK last game give us any information whatsoever? fuck no. If it wouldve fallen on me instead, no information wouldve been gained from that either.

Better to lynch a lurker. Town PR's wouldnt lurk so hard since they would know it makes them stand out to scum - that will know to target them since they do not have to information disadvantage town has. Im all in favour for lynching a lurker day1 since we want to get rid of them eventually anyway, and I still feel it has the highest chance of actually catching scum.

Ofcourse we could try to scumhunt and hope for an Espi repeat, but with this group of people I only think that will happen if we target one of the newbies, interogate them until they break, and lynch them. Seeing how that hasnt happened yet, I fully agree with warden we should just LYNCH A DAMN LURKER. we want to get rid of them regardless, better do it on day1 when we have too limited information to make an otherwise informed lynch. Even Krellin should approve of this method, since he always states voting habits cannot be used regardless and we "allways have the town lynch on D1". Him actually voting warden over his plan is completely contradictory to his other tidbits of krellin fallacy.

Alright. Having crashed out unexpectedly with my face on top of a giant cookie (not fun to wkae up with that half melted onto your cheek), let's check some things:

##unvote brainbomb

- I still very much dislike his denial of using gambler's fallacy (more than I dislike the fact he used it, which is just meh), but I'll accept he was reaction tunnelling me last night and cautiously forgive the dumb logic involved for now.

##vote WardenDresden

I called you out to give us your thoughts on people other than Captainmeme yesterday. You made multiple posts after that responding to people about your captainmeme case, and ignored me entirely. Frankly, saying nothing about anyone except 1 person is little bit than lurking anyway. We get it - you want to lynch Capt for lurking. Fine. But you can't make that your be and all end without thinking about anyone else.

@Vecna - Glad to see the style change, but given how you can be doing it to react to the pressure on you, I remain unconvinced.

@Yoyo
It's 15 pages in on a site you've been pretty active on for the past day or so... how are you so far behind on this thread?

@Captainmeme
If you do what you did last game you *will* be lynched. There's no ifs and buts here. Sort it out.
Vecna (890 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
HR, remain unconvinced all you want. We both know ill prove it soon enough one way or the other.
Vecna (890 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
Allthough I agree with you that its weak on wardens part to single out one lurker and not focus on the rest. I could guess to his motivations but its much more interesting to hear from him why he did as such.

Some more pressure for him to respond since I like the question and it has merit. We have a large number of lurkers and captainmeme is likely to succumb under enough pressure. Allhough I will switch back to him asap if he does not switch it around very soon, because I will no longer stand for it.

#vote warden dresden.

Vecna (890 D)

Some other people I feel that have been playing rather weak and need to step it up, or of which I suspect they could be part of the Scumchumpsquad;

Xorxes; Dude only seems to have one mode of play, his scummode. He plays exactly the same yet again, trying to fly under the radar, making some comments that almost appear designed not to draw attention.

Fleetmoscow - So far you disgrace the name of this elegant pseudonym used in F2F diplomacy. Start participating or you will get modkilled (which granted, at least saves us the effort of hanging you).

Yoyo: suddenly hyper-active in a little burst. Like a little duracel hamster running in his wheel. Thoroughly unimpressed by the actual contribution though. Step it up hamsterboy.

Chaqa: Is he even still in this? Prime lynch candidate imo if captain finally manages to find his keyboard again.

Reedeer1/DemonRHK/Teacon; Meh is the best description. Youre new to the game, fine. Bring some new flairs to it. Use your imagination. Do shit. Youre boring, bland and are doing nothing to further the game. Take an example of Trip, at least he provides reasons for his shit even though he's new, tunnels on Chaqa like mad. Good stuff.

good morning everyone. I apologize if anyone has asked a question. I don't have time to answer at the moment as I am on my way out the door and wanted to post this. Like last game, and the one before, tuesday is a really bad day for me in terms of work. I'll be on the job all day. I'll be back shortly before EOD if traffic is good. Because of that I want to ##unvote. I did some thinking last night on the game and I will share my thoughts on that when I have the time, but suffice to say my opinion has shifted. I hope to be able to share those thoughts later today if I have the time.

Welcome to the game Manic.

Thank you for taking DemonSupremeOverlords place may she speedily recover.

I want to take a moment to now ##Vote xorxes

I have seen you counsel reedeer1 and a xorxes flip tells us several things
1) He might be scum trying to get y2k lynched. A xorxes flip could reveal y2k, reedeer1, ND and a few other people as being clear.

2) xorxes talked page 1 last game as scum to appear helpful. He asked alot of seemingly neutral aligned questions about voting mechanics, hammering, and benign remarks about Amnesiac( in MXVII).
In this game theres a new pattern at work. xorxes is advising reedeer1 right away to use rule of 3 and ND catches on something seems absurd about that system. Xorxes you are on the clock its your turn to explain yourself.
y2kjbk (4846 D(G))
22 Mar 16 UTC
Catching up. Glad yoyo decided to show up and at least make a shitty non-case against me for sounding weird and "hesitant" in the first hour of the game with no questions asked and no follow-up to the rest of the game. i hate goldfinger saying "oh let's vote for someone who voted in the first 5 votes" after he lurked since a post saying he would lynch captainmeme for lurking. goldfinger is lurky and all over the map, my vote stays on him.

I'm leaning town on ND/Vecna, I like what I've seen from them so far and would not want a D1 lynch for either of them. so at the moment my townreads are vash jamiet krellin trip vecna ND. slight town lean on brainbomb. I'm leaning town on ghug too, but i'm hesitant around him, he's one of the most convincing scum-look-like-town in my experience.
Vecna (890 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
Ive been observing ghug for quite some games now, but he actually seemed less shark-like in his attacks and questioning of people. More mellow responses to people questioning him instead of going on the offensive. Not sure whether its scum-indicative or him being busy or trying to change his game up a bit after it not working out so well last game, but it does again stand out ot me.

But then again, i usually make a comment like this at least once in most games and he flips town every time.
xorxes (31128 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
@bb, how was I advising reedeer to use his rule of 3? I asked him whether he still believed in it, because it didn't make much sense to me. I didn't ask him last game about it because it suited me fine for him to believe in it. But reedeer seems to only pay lip service to the rule because he has had a couple of opportunities to use it but didn't. And why didn't you answer my question about the Ringleader?
brainbomb (290 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
Ringleader stands out to me as being the dispute settler. In MXV a N1 debacle happened when guak, TrPrado, yoyo and wjessop were split 2-2 on whom to kill ironically it was brainyb or balki. Because if a GM adjudication snafu balki the 3rd party was night killed instead of me.
I think GM wjessop added this role to prevent maf qt arguments. Also it is common for the people in maf qt's to have different ideas as you saw last game I was very vocal and at one point wanted to overrule meme. Ringleader is a point man but is certainly a more important role than their vanilla maf.

Why did you wait until I question you to demand my response?

xorxes (31128 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
@gold, the chances of there being some scum in a randomly picked set of 5 people are about 83%, I doubt picking the first five to vote gives a higher chance than that, but probably not lower either.
xorxes (31128 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
@bb, I didn't wait, I had forgotten about it until you made me think of you again.
brainbomb (290 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
@xorx I dont know what you were doing with reedeer1. I am asking why you bring up topics like rule of 3. How is your read of y2k? Is he still scummy? I have little trust for y2k but Ive already gleaned enough from him to know hes likely a ghost role or vanilla maf that wants to be a visible point man for scum. Hence baiting a cop scan potentially. You might be bussing him thats a theory I have.

You interacted fairly minimally early on with specifically mostly new players. teacon7 and reeder1
y2kjbk (4846 D(G))
22 Mar 16 UTC
i would definitely feel comfortable with a xorxes lynch, he lurked like crazy after parking a vote on me, never addressed me at all, and he's being super reactive now.
xorxes (31128 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
@bb, the feeling I got from our Mafia QT last game was that it was all very consensual. I think I didn't even had to vote to kill anyone at any point.
xorxes (31128 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
@y2k, if you have any questions for me please ask. I parked my vote on you because your initial posts seemed scummy and I haven't yet found anything scummier to vote, although I'm thinking krellin. I'm off to work now, but I'll be back later.
brainbomb (290 D)
22 Mar 16 UTC
Ours was fairly polite xorxes. Not all QT discussions have been so cooperative. I have seen many people get into ties in their QTs. meme and I fundamentally disagreed on killing maniac last game and I was clamoring to kill vecna. If meme had not shown up maniac still would have died but the ringleader prevents a tie. I think mafia would keep ringleader alive but they certainly wouldnt lose sleep over losing him as much as losing strongman. This is my opinion however. Mafia might not have a single vote cast for them.

my scum reads right now

obgyn
vash
ghug
xorxes
