ACA Premium Reimbursement
Today I was refunded a decent amount of last year's insurance premium through my company because our insurer didn't spend enough of their income from premiums on claims. What is going on here that some people are seeing their premiums double while some insurers literally don't have enough claims. Is it just happenstance that this provider only has healthy people? A civil, informed discussion would be appreciated, if at all possible.

Since there's so much rage about the American political situation, I thought I'd change it up a bit. Who do you think the next Australian PM will be?

Every F$&@ing Game Ruined!!!!
Every f$@&ing game ruined by NMR/CD's ... and then the D Bags who get the advantage won't cancel the game! Pathetic guys! You know who you are, and you're freakin' pathetic point grubbing thieves! You can't play win a straight up fight, so you resort to playing when you've got an unfair advantage.

Can we PLEASE create an "auto-cancle" feature so this stops happening?

I'm thinking about it, brainbomb, it sounds fun. Question is, when would the next start? And if I could find the time to play reliable and not just read when I got time ;)
brainbomb (290 D)

It depends. Could be next week. Or the week after. Jamie expressed interest in starting rapidly after this ended. If its Maniac as GM he may wait til december
Chaqa (3971 D(B))

Also this game single-handedly made me rethink my stance on post requirements.

Jamie has already had his setup approved and he said a mid Nov start was possible

Chaqa, to be fair, and HR can speak for himself here but I doubt he'll be paying enough attention to do so, he didn't particularly ask to be on that council, he was just the guy who decided to be the moderator scapegoat. If he isn't doing his due diligence on the council, then I imagine he'll remove himself without much fanfare. Personally, I think that we should be able to shake up the council if someone on it doesn't want to be on it anymore.

Flum isnt that active in mafia anymore. Hes played 1 of the last 6 games. Why is he on it? At least mene and HR show support for these setups they approve

I played this game fully for a couple of days; was roundly ignored despite correctly warning that Bio living to lategame = Bio win, and thus lost interest as town and mafia both deserved to lose for not taking the real threat seriously.

I was unfortunately inactive for the first two days but that was entirely caused by the game starting a week later than what I signed up for.
brainbomb (290 D)

Oh well. I dont think shaking up the council is necessary. They dont really do anything anyway. Their only purpose is to make rulings on brainbomb seems like

@Chaqa: hey I am not the one that decided that lynching goldfinger meant losing.
So yeah, lots of thoughts on this game. Two sections, Set up and gameplay. First off Set Up.

While I feel like this game was balanced, I feel it was balanced in the wrong way, because it’s a lot better to balance a game through mechanics than through roles. This is for two reasons:
1. Because sometimes the people who get those roles or killing roles suck (i.e guak)
2. Sometimes those roles get killed off early by accident, whether by lynch, NK or vig shot

As such it’s better to make your balance not dependent on certain roles not dying (like RA or doc). Instead I feel Bio would have been better balanced by any of the following changes:
1. Not Give the Mafia a factional role block (instead no rb or an rb role)
2. Have the virus spread only by being visited or only visiting not both
3. Have the bio unable to win while dead, unless everyone is dead
4. Have only 1 initial infected

I feel any of these changes would have made a slightly more balanced game. That being said, I do thing that goldie deserved to win for a number of reason in gameplay, specifically the actions of a number of players. Allow me to go through the list from least atrocious to most.

Chaqa: Yeah, not too bad you came around, but God, Chaqa, you almost lynched darg, even when we started to lynch peter again. Like that end of day play (when darg was almost certainly a townie) was why I thought you were bio, cause no town would do that, especially by beginning to not doubt Vecna, wtf man.

Darg: WHY THE FUCK DID YOU CLAIM INFECTED! Like that was not the thing to do in the end game since you don’t know if the bio or mafia did it and you really want to restrict both of the info they have at that point. Corect move was lynch Vecna and hope gold infects an infected, but instead you claimed and made it obvious chaqa was the uninfected when the game didn’t end.

Vecna: I can’t believe anyone believed your claim. It was complete trash. Your strategy was trash and I’m glad it didn’t work. Also I can’t believe you didn’t come around on Chaqa by game end and the rbs it should have been clear that gold was bio. Also, why not kill the bio at all, that was idiotic, you needed to limit mafia infections and you didn’t. Very poor play.

HR: You did nothing, advocated for the wrong move several times and didn’t even read the thread in the ENDGAME! I have actually lost a bit of respect for your mafia playing skills since your one saving grace was that you could come in at the end and save everything, and you did exactly the opposite through assuming the worst.

Guak: Really, YOU SHOT THE DOCTOR? Like as vig, don’t shoot people who were are going to be discussing the next day that have breadcrumbed power roles. Not only were you just as bad as HR, but you also ended up making very unstrategic kills and hurt the town by eliminating the role that could have saved us.

The Mafia: Yeah, you made an idiotic move my actively spreading the virus since the correct response to making the town near autoloss is throwing to bio. Very unstrategic and you all were very obvious in your moves and the one reason you stayed alive as long as you did (just in time to lost the game) was because of a lucky janitor clean.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the game (and I know some of them are harsh), but having said all that, thanks to the GMs and fellow competitors for a very interesting time. I hope to enjoy the next game as well

@vashta: it was bad luck, what can I say. I almost shot Ezio as soon as he got the gun, but I didn't. Bad choice, yes. So what? Part of the game. I was trying to shoot for bio instead of mafia, which was wrong from me, but I realized bio was the l;argest threat.
rdrivera2005 (3533 D(G))

I think town played really bad on this game, with exception of xorxes, but it was really hard to find the Bio with so many PRs infecting people around and with all town PRs gone. All in all, I find the setup really interesting, but a bit unbalanced against town as it´s really easy for Mafia to throw the game to Bio.
Mafia play was even worst IMHO, as killing and infecting the non-infected townies (me, flood and Dargo) on purpose, when it was clear the Bio have the better odds, was the main reason the Bio won. Even with Bio trying to infect already infected HR twice he was able to win.

bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Why would you be trying to shoot the bio instead of mafia? Also, why weren't you looking for crumbs? Not that you would have found mine - the one I left was incredibly vague. Still, you were out of shots after that night, you had no reason not to ask me to claim.
teacon7 (306 D)

@Goldfinger - Good game! I thought you played well, not only by staying ahead of the noose, but also by making good enough use of the confusion towards your wincon.

@scum - my apologies for the screwup that got my buddy lynched. That was totally my fault and I feel pretty bad about it.

@vecna - you did pretty well, against what was at the end pretty terrible odds. I'm really sorry for screwing up at the end there. I'd have posted more, but since I was confirmed scum I didn't want to scumslip too much information and accidentally out you.

@HR - I remember laughing, thinking "HR is totally right, is totally town, and both town and scum are arguing for a bio lynch. Why are people disregarding him?" well ...it is what it is. :/

@MoscowFleet and DemonRHK - that was a great setup and GMing, thanks so much for a great time.

@Chaqa - good game! You put in a lot of hard work there, especially towards the end.

@Kakarroto - you should play with us next game! It's a lot of fun.

@jamie - are you next? I'm looking forward for you GMing again, I had fun last time.

Another thing: NO ONE has inquired about what info the bio has in PMs or otherwise.

Gold doesn't get full info. He gets if he was successful in his infect, if it was cured from anyone, if it spread at all, and the total number of infected."

Goldie knew WAY MORE than the role doc said he would. I don't know if it would have provided the town with an advantage, but it SURE AS FUCK gave him an advantage. WTF.
brainbomb (290 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
Bo was town. I townread him from the beginning in spectator thread. He never looked scummy intentionally.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
07 Nov 16 UTC
Maybe I didn't play perfectly as the game moved on, but with the entirety of my team besides Floodgates being complete idiots once xorxex, bo, and Vash were dead, WTF was I supposed to do?

Guak just ate up Vecna's stupid claim.

HR didn't read.

dargo tried but claimed at the worst time.

And the mafia threw this fucking game to the bio. I explained so many times how this stupid game of chicken was the ONLY way mafia or town could win - town lynching infected scum, mafia needing to kill the bio. We were thinning the herd so the infection would kill infected town, leaving both sides free to play the game.

But no, mafia had to just start spreading it to everyone while deciding to make the worst possible reads about who the Bio was. It was painfully obvious goldie was the bio.

The only thing stopping us from lynching him was that it would mean mafia's guaranteed win.

teacon7 (306 D)
07 Nov 16 UTC
That chart from Chaqa by itself is worth considering for future use. I'm not sure it'd be terribly helpful in vanilla games, but something like that to track night actions looks useful.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
07 Nov 16 UTC
Guak's first shot was his worst shot. Shooting Ika was awful as he was obviously town (as I said in my post-mortem read) and he should have reread Ika and seen how vastly better for town his play was than when he flipped mafia. Likewise, he shot him in the middle of a deep and intense back-and-forth he was having with multiple players. He should have let that play out. No reason to stifle it. That's why I read Ezio as the vigilante - not only was he advertising what I assumed was his second shot on the basis of public outcry against his first, but his role in that discussion as well as his experience indicates he might take that shot.

So I think most of the world is in agreement that the universe is so big that life almost definitely exists on other planets. That question is kind of boring though. The real question is, have aliens had contact with earth in the present or past.

Recent appointments to high office have created controversy among progressive, intelligent people. I'm talking about two things, of course. A Divide
I've seen horrible reactions these past 24 hours. Some celebrate that they have a champion, thinking he will bring this country to its greatest times. Others panic, fearing the same man will erode their rights and encourage persecution which will endanger their lives. Those whose views don't fall into that binary shirk away, fearing their voice is no longer welcome. This thread is about the lofty goal of uniting a further dividing nation.

Refugees and Asylum seekers
So i had a thought, under international law, those seeking asylum are entitled to protection if they have reason to fear for their life. Thus pretty much anyone fleeing the Syrian war should probably automatically be granted asylum.

What about LGBT folk from the US, fearing political repression and violence in the streets. Should we (europeans) open our borders?
