"Okay, I still stand by the idea that it is a wasted vote to lynch soneone who will die anyway."

Also, this is a highly suspicious thing to say. As a townsfolk, would you *want* to lynch the guy who was going to die anyway? The only reason you'd want two people to die today is if you're the mafia and want to eliminate 2 townsfolk instead of one.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

As in, the only people to gain from lynching two random people are the mafia.

Well I made it because people were interested in who had been "silent
You are posting cheating accusations tok frequently. Please ban down.
@abge: I am fully against RANDOMLY lynching two people. My goal is, hopefully like yours, to eliminate the mafia and serial killer. I simply find the notion of lynching 2WL on ZERO evidence of his participation in the mafia, aside from an overall lack of participation, a true shot in the dark. I believe in making an educated guess on who is in the mafia, and voting for them, rather than a random shot like that. I understand that this position may paint me as suspicious in your eyes, but I will stand here like a man and stick with my humble opinion. Now, later in the game it may be prudent to kill the man who has stayed under the radar and talks too little, but killing him first when there are better suspects is not prudent.
True. And 00 posts is rather minimal. But some of the talkers dont sound any more trustworthy. It's not about posts as such I think, but about being outspoken and sticking your neck out to find some intel.
Okay, I have looked at the earlier posts, and halfway through the day phase, I would like to make a preliminary lynch vote(subject to change). For now, I am going ##VOTEChaqa.
Allow me to make my case. Since this game began Chaqa has played from the fringe, sending out a few messages, here and there, but mostly meshing with the rest of Us. He has pointed a figure securely at krellin, resulting in an argument between the two. Had to proclaim his status as a townie, suggested that 4 people voting together are the mafia (again pointing fingers), an action which would make them possibly "the dumbest mafia ever". He also suggest that we let the mafia move first to gain intelligence, rather than simply supporting Thucy's argument that we stand to lose people by lynching, which has some merit. To me he seems rather suspicious, and I am not the only one. While it was somewhat on a whim, captainmeme voted for Chaqa as well, probably due to the sense that he was suspicious. If anyone would like to defend him, feel free. After all, maybe I am just lacking the right perspective, and I am willing to change my vote to a compelling argument. And if I am wrong on this, may the Diplomacy Gods help my poor soul.
Vote Count Update the Fifth

Thucydides (1): WardenDresden
Chaqa (2): captainmeme, VashtaNeurotic
2ndWhiteLine (4): TheJok3r, y2kjbk, pjmansfield99, abgemacht
No-lynch (5): Thucydides, Chaqa, Fasces349, AlexNesta, kasimax

Votes outstanding (6): TheMinisterOfWar, The Hanged Man, krellin, 2ndWhiteLine, Seyvas, yebellz

Currently NO ONE is set to be lynched!

Roughly 24 hours remain.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
04 Apr 14 UTC
Vashta, from the very first time it was suggested, I've been set in the no-lynch vote because I don't believe we know nearly enough to make a good guess right now. My accusation of krellin was more of a defensive one.

At the time, he wanted to lynch someone who was voting not to lynch. So, him gaining traction and threatening me (and those who I agree with) makes him an enemy to me in some ways. Why would I not want to lynch him?

I didn't say we let the mafia move first to gain intelligence. I said we should wait and see, and the mafia may make a move if that is the case, but it's a better alternative than losing two innocents (lynching and mafia) vs. one (mafia).

To me, we know nothing right now. There's a lot of confusion, pointing fingers, and suspicion, but no proof of anything. Which is why I will not lynch, and will continue not to lynch until I am certain (or reasonably convinced) of someone's mafia status.
yebellz (729 D(G))

Please don't start needlessly bumping the thread. It'll just fill it with more chaff and spread the content over more pages.

I know that there will be record of this, but I would recommend watching the voting record quite carefully. According to wikipedia, this game becomes much easier for the villagers (at least in the casual party setting where this is normally played) if they have access to a pen and paper to record and analyze the vote.

Does anyone know if 2ndwhiteline plans on playing? Pres Eden, could you please inquire with him to see if we need a replacement?
krellin (80 DX)

Chaqa - I will tell you again, as I did before, I *never* suggested a vote for you specifically. You're insistence that I have targeted you is clearly a lie, and has been pointed out to you before. I find you insistence on perpetrating this lie disturbing.

Further, at the time I was suggesting a vote for the "non-lynch / non-productive" crowd, I was not alone in this suggestion - and yet you continue to specifically target me (along with Thucy at the time).

You have now stepped over my line of suspicion one too many times.

##VOTE Chaqa
Chaqa (3971 D(B))

Like I said, I don't plan on counting votes again. People were curious who hasn't been active (and who has) so I tallied up the first ten pages.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
04 Apr 14 UTC
If you go back and look at my posts mentioning you:

The first one was a jab at you, because you are annoying on the forum, to ban you for no real reason. Not a serious comment or a strategic one. Shortly afterward I placed my no lynch vote.

And we got into this argument already. I don't want to lynch. You wanted to lynch a non-lyncher (which includes me). How can you say I am targeting you when you are targeting me? If I am to be forced to vote to lynch, I will obviously vote for the one who has several times (and now officially) pushed to lynch a non-lyncher.

I don't want to lynch, and because of that you lynch me
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
04 Apr 14 UTC
And if we go back and look at how many times I have "gone after" you, versus how many you have gone after me, it's way more biased towards you attacking me. I have not seriously considered lynching you, or tried to persuade others to.

In fact, I've only (until this string of posts) mentioned you three times.

1. Very beginning, a joking call to ban you.
2. When you first wanted to ban a non-lyncher, I was angry and said to ban you for "stirring up trouble".
3. A few pages up explaining my reason for suggesting we target you.

I hardly see how I have done anything to "cross your line" when I've had maybe 20 posts, only two of which are serious about you in any way.
In other news, 2WL seems to be online, feel free to read (and its a lot of reading) and post your opinion, 2WL, if you get two more votes you will be the one up for lynching.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
04 Apr 14 UTC
Oh, and krellin re-read this part:
"At the time, he wanted to lynch someone who was voting not to lynch. So, him gaining traction and threatening me (and those who I agree with) makes him an enemy to me in some ways. Why would I not want to lynch him? "

I do not mean threatening me explicitly, but me as part of the group (non-lynchers).

Me and my group is the key part.

You are reading things that aren't there. Go back through, Ctrl+F Chaqa, and find all my posts. I've been very consistent throughout: no lynch, doctor protect himself, no random lynch.
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
04 Apr 14 UTC
abgemacht has been rather fluid in his voting choices. Never first to choose a side, but always floating his reasoning around. As I recall his first post was against lynching round 1, then he argued mathematically for lynching, and then shifted to an almost meaningless vote on 2wl. As such, I'm going to change my placeholder Thucy vote to ##VOTE Abgemacht.
2ndWhiteLine (2596 D(B))

Holy shit, 11 pages I need to catch up on? No fucking way. I'm out, sorry guys. There's no way I'm going to keep up with this much chat.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))
04 Apr 14 UTC
It will die down, 2WL, as people die.. I can give you a summary:

krellin & others: lynch someone
Thucy & others: don't
Random people: we should lynch 2WL for not posting

and that's about it.

It's Maple's Alter Ego! (But Seriously--Should Serling Be Forced to Sell the Team?)
http://nba.si.com/2014/04/29/donald-sterling-adam-silver-nba-owners-reaction/ To be clear--this is HYPOTHETICAL. There's nothing in the NBA Constitution that gives the commissioner the right to do this, so this is more just a thought experiment--say that power existed, and Adam Silver COULD force Serling to sell the team based on his repeated racist comments over the years, with this last doozy being the kicker. If the power existed, SHOULD the man lose his team over this?

Gunboat game for the reliable but poor
I'm tired of the NMRs and CDs that are far too common i the low-bet games I can afford to play. I'd love to play in the big-pot games with the best players, but I don't have the $ (and, hey, I'm not that good anyway). If there are other middle of the road players who feel the same way, perhaps we can organize a password-protected game (or two if there's enough interest) of reliable gunboaters. More below.

Phase length for FTF games?
I've been thinking about putting together a face to face game for some new players (friends who don't play diplomacy.... yet). But, I've never played FTF myself - so:

What kind of phase lengths do people use? I assume that there's also a time or turn cap too (eg game ends in 1910)?
