They are more often than not seeking emotional vengeance, payback for past sins, no matter who has to suffer. It is present in their idea of criminal justice, as well as tax policy. They always want the rich to "pay their fair share" (even though the rich already pay the overwhelming majority of taxes) and cheer on a good tax hike NOT because they will get something personally from the increased taxes, but just because they want to see someone else suffer.

If you would read the link you'd see it was an opinion piece written by a guy who worked for the United States Sentencing Commission. So, you know, an expert who would know what he's talking about. But hey, why let facts get in the way of prejudice? Certainly now any links to, say, CBS or a law professor's blog are now totally worthless since I've provided a link to a major news outlet that has opinions shows and pundits of a different political view than you.

Noah Rothman? John R. Lott, Jr. is the guy who wrote the piece for Fox. He's an economist. Looking back, it seems whoever Rothman is is the guy from Mediaite, whatever that is, where I got the Dershowitz video. The point of posting was to show that video, not whatever website it came from. Maybe I ought to have said so. At any rate, it's not my fault you don't know who Alan Dershowitz is. He happens to be the most brilliant liberal jurist alive today. It literally does not get any better than him when it comes to issues just like this.

Hey krellin, you do know that the most common types of marijuana tend to calm people down, not make them violent and confrontational, right? Furthermore, it doesn't matter if he was high, Zimmerman didn't know that, and being under the influence of drugs doesn't give someone the right to murder you. This may change things, but it shouldn't.

Actually, the level of drugs found in his body were so small that it was clear that he wasn't high at the time of his death. The fact that he had smoked some days before the event is hardly relevant to his murder.

Let me just give you my analysis on the trial:

Trayvon Martin was a pot-smoking (yes its true) kid from the ghetto, who attacked Zimmerman. However, Zimmerman is an imbecile for not abiding by police instruction to stop following Martin. Therefore, I have no sympathy for him.

Anyhow, the State lost the case when they put up witnesses that were discredited during cross examination, and I think it is fairly likely Zimmerman will be acquitted.
