As if we don't already know who's going to win...

Interesting tactics so far:

Obama's a lot less impassioned than we've come to expect, he's citing facts (either fact or fact-sounding fiction) and trying to dissect Romney on those grounds...

Romney's giving a LOT of rhetoric, which is interesting as he's clearly trying to come across as that kinder, gentler, more caring Mitt Romney that he and the GOP tried to cultivate at the RNC.

Interesting in the different styles.

And watching CNN's undecided tracker:

Women generally are favoring Obama, Men Romney.

Here's my opinion: Romney loses all credibility claiming to want to reduce the debt while simultaneously increasing the military budget.

Oh, no doubt. He's sounding better than I expected, but he's still got a ways to go

Sadly, it's not the words that matter. Turn off the sound, look at the poise and body language. That's what tells the outcome and impact on the broader public.

I'm actually only listening to the debate, so I can't comment on that, but I'm sure you're right.

He's coming across as eager, but I think he's being overeager and coming across as a bit more of a pit-bull in there, while Obama's giving answers in a measured and calm tone...

Romney has more energy that we thought he might have, but I'm not sure it's being used well...you want a calm, measured leader in a crisis, after all, not the sort of scrambling up-and-down mood swings Romney has right now.

Jobs...Romney
Deficit...Romney
Entitlements...draw, they really only talked about Medicare

I actually think Romney is debating well, his opinions are just wrong...

I'm pro-Obama, I agree with what he's saying and I think Romney is just deflecting ambiguously when challenged, but his body language is stronger while Obama's is weaker.

Romney's poise is confident and strong. Obama is frowning and looking down too much.

And Obama keeps putting Romney on the defensive, he needs to get back on the offensive and seem to do it with ease, or he may be in trouble...Obama's not crushing him, but he's doing well enough to keep Romney from delivering that decisive blow he NEEDS to re-energize his campaign in the swing states.

How do you figure he won the deficit? Nothing he said adds up.

He hasn't done or said ANYTHING to justify that smirk yet...it's just going to reinforce the idea that he thinks he's better than everyone...

Romney is debating well. He's attacking and challenging Obama. I disagree with the basis of many of his attacks, but he's know how to spin it properly.

They're all losing, they keep advocating for this "government" nonsense.

It was a better response than I expected, but it doesn't hold water. If he really wanted a bipartisan plan, he would make changes to the current plan, not repeal it with Republican votes and start over.

I agree it doesn't hold water, I'm just saying, from the average-joe, rhetoric point of view, it was a good response for Romney.

I think Romney is doing very well tonight. Surprisingly well. It seems as thought Obama is on his heels a bit more than Romney. I don't think he can hold it up though.

Obama is taking a serious lead in overall speaking time, and that's like time of possession in football...

Namely--a serious advantage for him right now.

He's at 5 minutes+ more than Romney.

I disagree, Tom, Romney's had to cut in time and again to give a hasty defense after Obama's challenged him on something...

Obama's not had those sort of scrambling moments, he hasn't been knocked off balance all night.

That's a good point. The moderator should be doing a better job. On the other hand, it's probably a lot easier to tell an ex-governor to stop talking than the current President.
