In all honesty
We tried this on vdip a while ago but It never really worked out, I still think its a cool concept though and was wondering if people here would like to try it. The idea is a classic game where you aren't allowed I lie. That doesn't mean you won't misdirect, or mislead people, but you can't outright lie.

How to get a sitter
My wife has reached full term and could go into labor any day now. So I figured I would go ahead and try and get sitters now while I have time (so that others don't have to wait later). The problem is I have no idea how the process works. What steps do I need to take?

Italian A Tyrolia to Munich has got to be one of the worst early game moves.
Unless this is carefully arranged bilaterally, I cannot possibly see any merit to this whatsoever. Yet I've been hit by it not once but multiple times recently, so clearly someone disagrees... so can someone tell me what the point of this move is?

A second new WTA Game
I've got one that started up with a low pot (25 D) and I'll be looking to fill a second WTA 2-day phase game. Looking for takers and the buy-in is up for discussion depending on need.

The title's misleadingly provocative, but this is an interesting analysis of how China's political system is facing real challenges.

Do people understand the meaning of diplomacy?
This is a very clever game, but I have to say there is a fine line between being diplomatic and lying your butt off, and I have to say I'm not impressed by the way some players play.

NEW GAME
Hi forum! I'm in two games right now and will drop down to 0 pretty soon. I'd like to start a new game with those interested. It will be:
WTA, non-anon (preferred), 2-day phases, 25 D buy-in. Please post interest below. I'll set up the game next week (likely), and if we generate enough interest, maybe multiple games.

Just Thought I'd Remind You...
Today is Palm Sunday....on Friday we mourn the death of the greatest man to walk the Earth. Though He was both God and yet man.
For those of you who do not realize the sheer magnitude of God's Love and sacrifice through this gesture of Grace, I would like for you to go out, purchase a Bible, and read the whole thing.

2) I've actually tried very hard several times to read the bible and just can't get through it. Too boring and, quite frankly, makes no sense at all. : /

Actually, though, please allow me to hijack this thread to suggest a great book that I think is an excellent read for everyone: The Unlikely Disciple by Kevin Roose. It's about his semester at Liberty University as a secret atheist.

@Draug

I'm not taunting him. I suggested a legitimately interesting and relevant book which he refused to read out of hand.

What's unbecoming is someone demanding that I conform to his beliefs without even acknowledging that other view points exist.

@YJ

Sure. I really think it's a great book and, as an atheist, gave me pause, which is always good. By no means is it straight-up liberal propaganda.

He was a sophomore at Brown when he decided to do his semester abroad at Liberty University (for those of you who don't know, it's the largest Christian University in the US). It's just a book about his adventures, and mostly about his surprise about how well he fit in with the other students (for as long as they thought he believed in god, at least). He was also one of the last people to interview Jerry Falwell before his death.

@Draug

No. atom was specifically addressing me and people like me. What did he expect? I would just be like "Gee wiz! Since you asked so nice, I'll spend a whole week reading this book that I could never get through before?"

I tried to initiate a conversation, with a bit of sass, sure, but atom can handle that.

@Abge - You started in on the first reply with the Harrison Ford crap. Yes, KA pushed it with the OP smart ass comment about reading the Bible. But he is a smart ass 15 year old and you are the mod who pushed the whole civility and improving the forum thing subway the fuck would you push his buttons and act like him?
Draugnar (0 DX)

So why not subway.
Draugnar (0 DX)
01 Apr 12 UTC
And seriously. Not detailing threads by discussing an athiest's books at the start of the holiest week on the Christian calendar when the op was about it being the start of that week. Well it makes you a tucking tool. Take it to a me tucking thread or you have no tucking reason to itch about the forum civility and being inviting to strangers, fucktard.
Draugnar (0 DX)

"Not detailing threads by discussing an athiest's books at the start of the holiest week on the Christian calendar when the op was about it being the start of that week."

I really don't care what day it was. If this thread was directed towards other Christians, I wouldn't have commended. It wasn't. It was directed at non-Christians. You are always saying that this is a site for adults and kids don't get passes just for being kids. Are you changing your stance for just this instance?
Draugnar (0 DX)
01 Apr 12 UTC
No, Important pointing out the hypocrisy of you telling us to be civil and not feed the rolls then turning around and feeding this particular one followed by derailing the thread rather than letting it die and taking what sounds like an interesting book/subject to a new thread.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Tucking rolls. Other tucking rolls.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

"feed the rolls"

LOL

Sounds like a really bad episode of the Twilight Zone.

But, in all seriousness, Draug, I wasn't trying to cause a scene. But, just as you don't like it when I compare jesus to harrison ford, I don't like people proclaiming that a must read the bible because it is the word of god. Could I have left this thread alone, sure, but this is not the type of bile on the forum I'm talking about and you know it. The forum will always have a bite to it and I don't care about that.

Lets all take a moment to remember all the human bonfires that Christians started.

Or the innocent firstborn sons that your God slaughtered.

Or the civilians of Jericho that he commanded his chosen people to butcher.

Even if your God was real, I'd never bow down before anything that fucked up. Thankfully, he's made up, like every other deity.

Mankind will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.
Jack_Klein (897 D)

"What's unbecoming is someone demanding that I conform to his beliefs without even acknowledging that other view points exist. "

Man, abge, so sensitive. Where did he "demand" anything? He said he'd like you to read a book. And, without acknowleding other viewpoints? Do you do that every time you post something about science or your atheism? Every single post about evolution, do you say, "Of course, this is only one viewpoint, others may differ, and are equally valid." No, you don't. So, your post is pretty freaking unreasonable, I'd have to say.

I did skim the book you suggest once in a bookstore. It wasn't bad, pretty interesting.
