Springing Forward
Daylight Savings Time starts tonight for most of us in the United States, Canada, and several Caribbean island nations. This isn't the same date as for most other participating countries; consequently, this meant we all had to change our time zones manually when I last was on this site a few years ago.

Remember to Spring Forward if it applies to you, and remember to double-check your clocks on the webDiplomacy website after you do it.

My apologies to the players of "two?" gameID=82846
I'm writing to apologize to the players of game "two?" (http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=82846) for abandoning the game. An emergency came up and I had to leave. I understand me leaving threw the game off balance for everyone and for that I am sorry. I hope I get a chance to play you guys again in the future.

Sincerely,

United Auto Workers bailed out by Obama
Why did Americans who don't work at General Motors, about 99.9% of the population, waste hundreds of billions bailing out GM? Obama's dependence on union money of course. Our reward
Production of the Chevy Volt halted and 1,300 jobs lost.

Random Person to Post Wins
We all know that the concept of "Last Person to Post Wins" is deeply flawed – it encourages excessive posting which is similar to bidding wars; only except of money, one constantly invests his free time to stay on top which favours the trolls the most, since they have no life and therefore plenty of free time. Random Person to Post Wins alleviates the situation of those who wish to win but can't bother trying. Enjoy.

England just left a surprisingly solid position in this game: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=81140

It's Autumn retreats, so England will have two builds and a total of six units before there's any new action.

Government "aid" to the poor, a success or disaster?
Socialists, statists, liberals and the like consistently, constantly, and incessantly claim that government administered aid is the "only" solution for poverty and uplifting the poor. Where is the real evidence of this success? The youth riots in Britain provide evidence of its failure.

Government should regulate WebDip's Website
Following the logic that braindead socialists post on this site all the time about how government knows best then lets put their insane ideas to the test.
If government can run my health care better than I can then surely government could run Webdip better with one hand behind its back than the mods do.

Elected representatives suddenly gain immense intellectual ability once they take the oath of office and can be trusted to oversee almost everything in my life.
The government knows my retirement needs better than me and takes 15% of my before tax income for social security .
The government knows my body better than I do and prevents me from smoking pot (so the idiots in government think) or drinking raw milk, or a multitude of other actions I'm obviously too stupid to judge for myself. Thank God for government.
So its only logical that government should run Webdip.
Think of the improvement.
No multis. Government officials who just go elected with no particular expertise in web based diplomacy would fix everything in a jiffy.
That's the logic of morons who support Obamacare in the states while ignoring the bankruptcy of Europe's economies.

Thucy, the next time you are picking up your government money that someone else earned for you make sure to tell the bureaucrat in front of you that the govenrment needs to run Webdip.

No more multis, no trolls, no megagaming, no new games that can't find players.

Like everything else it touches government will make Webdip great!!!!!!

I agree, we have to fix the systemic inequalities in Webdips points system. We need to have equal points for all!
"...or a multitude of other actions I'm obviously too stupid to judge for myself." Exactly my thoughts.
And the moral of the story is: sarcasm doesn't work if what you're saying is completely true.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

This is an absurd parallel.

In webdiplomacy, everybody starts with 100 D, so the conservative argument that returns are based on skill and dedication, rather than starting position, actually has meaning. If we did it the true American conservative way, TC would start every game with a 12 SC Russia and he'd be the only one with which the other 6 could exchange press.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
19 Jan 12 UTC
It isn't points redistribution, it's social justice. Just like the socialist say that the community ultimately is the source of all wealth where no individual creates wealth but ultimately owes it all to the community.

The Czech is one of the evil, greedy self-absorbed 1% who must realize that his greed must stop and that he stole those points dishonestly from other players.

In fact the whole idea of ranking and points makes everyone on this site a tool of the free-market capitalist man.

Power to the people! Occupy Webdip! The mods are exploiters!

the fact people think TC is not trying to be sarcastic means he's still talking bullshit, right? i'm confused, i think...

steephie22 (182 D(S))
21 Jan 12 UTC
also, i don't think the government should take over webdip, here are my reasons:
1. i suppose you mean the US government and webdip is Australian right?
2. Skynet would get access to it and when Judgment Day comes we can't play diplomacy with our last breath...
3. everybody knows that the perfect government only raises small taxes to pay the government so it's easy to overthrow...
Kochevnik (1160 D)

I agree with TC. It's wrong that 40% of the webdip points are being hoarded by Marx (and don't get me started on the hypocrisy in that username!) and his bourgeois cronies!

We need to start some sort of ineffectual protest movement to Occupy Webdip now. Bring the points back to the 99% and all that.

I'm wondering why someone hasn't proposed affirmative action in Webdip.
I mean we have teenagers that are put at a disadvantage by a system that requires adult judgment and savy.

Thucy and the like deserve to win points at a multiple of 2:1 compared to the normal 1:1point ration.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

We should tax any points over 500.
If you win a game and you have over 500 D we should only award you half a point for every point someone under 500 would get.

2ndWhiteLine (2591 D(B))

webDip users who fall below 100 get bumped back up to 100 D, in effect, a negative income tax. Since these points are created from nothing, MM and Babak hardly deny points to the masses.
Rommeltastic (1106 D(B))
27 Jan 12 UTC
But then why do we not see enterprises where seven players (not multis) "farm" points from their lower-echelon players so that they can rival massive corporations such as MM enterprise? Because the "man" says that that counts as fraud! Take back your rights! Down with big government!
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
27 Jan 12 UTC
We should do what Sweden does and cap the number of points you can accumulate with a progressive tax system.
Anyone with over 500 pts gets taxed at 98% for any future point they win.

Government has to take over webdiplomacy because the diplomacy world is a zero-sum environment where if players choose web diplomacy another site loses out.
Right?

So we used to have simply board game diplomacy and webdiplomacy helped destroy that because anyone using the webdiplomacy site had to quit playing the board game because that's the way zero-sum socialist/marxist economic stupidity works.

The argument that webdiplomacy offers and interface that takes so little time to get together a group to play compare to the board version that requires players to physically travel and represents an increase in productivity that actually grows the diplomacy community is false.

No false false false. The world is a zero-sum environment. If someone plays at web diplomacy then board games lose out. If someone plays at vdip then webdip loses out. There is no way that computerized increases in productivity actually grows the diplomacy community.

Oh no. Real growth due to productivity increases, or better interfaces, or simplified processes is impossible.

If you don't believe me just ask one of the socialist/marxist morons on the board.
They'll set you straight in spite of all the facts and common sense logic to the contrary.

Nope. Face it. Webdip is destroying the board game, Vdip, and play dip, because as we know in the socialist/marxist mind set real growth is impossible and the world is a zero-sum environment.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
04 Feb 12 UTC
Why is there money involved in Webdip anyway? It just creates class divisions. The people with money simply exploit the people with little money and simply accumulate more and more while the unwashed masses never make any progress.
Those with money become elitist and build games where they don't have to rub elbows with the unwashed masses.
The glaring inequality of the webdip monetary system exploits the unwashed masses of webdip players for the profit of the chosen few.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

I think we should appoint a Federal Reserve board that will print points and distribute them evenly to those underrepresented in our points system.

Of course this will make earning points really useless, but destroying what someone earned isn't important at all is it?

A tax policy scenario.
This thread assumes that the economy is not a zero-sum system, but instead assumes that the economy is a dynamic system capable of real growth.
Thus any assumed increase in wealth results from the output of productive activity, and does not diminish the wealth of anyone else at all.

Why can't Unions survive on their own?
Mitch Daniels signed right to work legislation and union workers protested.
We've had unions in this nation for well over a century.
We've seen the "workers" of the state run a government in the Soviet Union.
With all this historical evidence why can't unions survive without coercion?
