The Top 10 Most Important Battles of All-Time
Pretty self-explanatory...if you want to try and rank your picks, bonus points.
I WILL give one caveat--all of my picks ARE slanted towards the West, that's just my bias...don't know enough Eastern Theatre battles to really include many, and those that do make my list are because the West drove back the East...so you can include Eastern battles--please do!--but I don't known them, so can't include them. Let the War of the Words begin! :)

The Democrats in Congress destroyed the debit card.
Durbin, after furious lobbying from large retailers like Wal-Mart, was able to pass a measure that capped debit card charges to retailers at 15% of their former levels before Democrats lost control of both houses in Jan. 2011.
Durbin claims that retailers will pass the reduced charges to consumers.
Excuse me while I laugh uncontrollably at Durbin's naivete, but Dick is a liberal Democrat so this is to be expected whenever business is involved.
To pay for the expense of processing the almost 40 billion debit card transactions made annually banks will charge $5 a month to each customer using a debit card.
Now I won't get charged because I do not use debit cards at all.
If you don't understand why you should always use a credit card instead of a debit card then you already lack personal financial knowledge and will have to wait for another post.
What about individuals from the lowest economic quintile? They need access to their cash as soon as a check roles in.
A debit card was the most convenient access and was free, but thanks to Dick Durbin they now will pay at least $60 that retailers used to pay.
Next Durbin will outlaw any fees and debit cards and banks won't even issue them.
Liberal Democratic politicians are about as ignorant of business as anyone can be.

Wal-Mart mom's control the 2012 election.
We know how 30% of the country will vote. They will vote for the big government that has created total dependence in their lives.
We know how 40% of the country will vote. They will vote to cut taxes, decrease the size of government, and increase personal freedom in an attempt to roll back the ruinous policy of FDR-LBJ-OBAMA

The election will be decided by Wal-Mart mom's who live in suburbia, drive their kids to soccer practice and shop at Wal-Mart.
The large majority of those moms voted for Barack in 2008.
In 2010 an even larger majority voted for Republicans.
These women describe Congress as broken, overpaid, out of touch, dominated by special interests.
Want candidate do these Wal Mart moms like the best, Mr. Herman Cain.

Can I remind you that 25% of the world economy is in the Untied States because there are so many idiotic socialist, communist and authoritarian regimes that can't create any economic growth.
Can I remind you that the United States can invade any country in the world, but cannot be invaded by any country.
Can I remind you that the United States has the largest nuclear arsenal on the face of the globe.
Can I remind you that if the United States falls into economic recession and potentially depression because of leaders like Obama-Pelosi-Reid are ignorant of policies necessary for economic growth that the rest of the world will suffer needlessly.
Can I remind you of these geopolitical realities that are irrefutable.
Please let me know if you believe any are incorrect so I can educate you on "how the world really works."
If the other 95% would embrace individual freedom, the idea of popular sovereignty, free speech, free press, freedom of religion, and protection of property rights you might have a point, but that is not "how the world works" and is not reality now is it.

Can I remind you that if the United States falls into economic recession and potentially depression because of leaders like Obama-Pelosi-Reid are ignorant of policies necessary for economic growth that the rest of the world will suffer needlessly. <<<< This is precisely what I was on about.....the fact that 5% of the world population can influence the rest of the world so much. Can I remind you of these geopolitical realities that are irrefutable. <<<< Irrefutable? I think not.

If the other 95% would embrace individual freedom, the idea of popular sovereignty, free speech, free press, freedom of religion, and protection of property rights you might have a point, but that is not "how the world works" and is not reality now is it. <<< So you are telling me that the USA is the only civilized nation in the world that embraces the qualities you list? Checkmate,

The pirates don't take American ships, and when they do they die. Take a look at who gets taken by the pirates. Why should we waste our blood and treasure on them. Let their own navies protect them. Let those countries pay the huge defense we do.
What kind of idiot claims that the United States Navy doesn't completely dominate the world's oceans.
Does this site just attract the ignorant and uninformed or what?
Now that the Soviet threat is gone American foreign policy rhetoric has changed, but the arsenal is still there, intact. Some people are fooled by rhetoric though, and we just found one.
What is something not to be proud of is living in a society that can't produce economic growth. Greece? Spain? Italy? Russia? What percentage of the world's population is totally wasted economically in those countries.
The US is the most vibrant economy on the planet, damn right I'm proud of that. If the rest of you idiots can't figure it out that's your fault.

Checkmate, What kind of mind altering chemicals do you submerge your body in hourly?
Cuba embraces dividual freedom, the idea of popular sovereignty, free speech, free press, freedom of religion, and protection of property rights
China dividual freedom, the idea of popular sovereignty, free speech, free press, freedom of religion, and protection of property rights
India dividual freedom, the idea of popular sovereignty, free speech, free press, freedom of religion, and protection of property rights

Heck Europe doesn't embrace free speech. Idiot Europeans outlaw all sorts of speech in the name of political correctness.

Tettleton, you really need a reality check. If the US navy was so great, why is there still a border problem (aside from Mexico)?
Yes I suppose you are one of those "ignorant and uniformed" that the site attracts.
Yes, the US arsenal has the capability of destroying the earth several times over. But even you aren't dumb enough to think that it's even a possibility. The US relies on other countries far more than other countries depend on it.
The US is nowhere near the most vibrat economy. It's on the downfall. Compare this economy to most of the East Asian countries, and you'll find yourself completely embarrassed. Unlike the US, those countries' economies are growing.
The US has 5% of the population, yet consumes over 30% of the world's resources... and on top of that, look at the state of the economy relative to that of the large cities like Hong Kong or Beijing. Proud of that? You shouldn't be.

http://seekingalpha.com/article/47992-using-trade-to-gdp-ratio-to-evaluate-country-etfs

In 2008, US had a 0.72 Export to Import ratio. To compare, China is at 1.14. Canada is at 1.05. France is at 0.91. Germany is at 1.15. Japan is at 1.01. Still proud?
The point you're making about rights is just an extension of Freedom vs Security. I'd be glad to massacre you on that topic any day.

"Actually, Russia has far more warheads than the US, lol."

No, Russia has fewer warheads as far as anybody can tell. The New Start treaty implemented limits of 1,550 deployed strategic warheads, 700 deployed delivery vehicles 800 launchers.

Russia has: 1537 deployed strategic warheads. 521 delivery vehicles, and 865 launchers.

US has: 1800 deployed strategic warheads, 882 delivery vehicles, and 1124 launchers.

http://www.armscontrol.org/act/2011_%2007-08/%20Russia_Nuclear_Arsenal_Below_Some_New_START_Limits

No, the Situation. You weren't muted. I own a business that needed my attention.

You posted "why is there still a border problem (aside from Mexico)
What border problem are you referring too? Canada.
In case you have looked at a map since your middle school got out this afternoon the United States only has a border with Mexico and Canada.
Where do you morons come from that post this kind of stupidity?

On the role of the US nuclear arsenal in geopolitics and foreign policy the fact of its size and accuracy undoubtedly inhibits Communist China's policy towards Taiwan, North Korea's policy towards S. Korea and Japan, and Russian policy towards Georgia.

"The US is nowhere near the most vibrant economy."
Out of the keyboards of the hopelessly ignorant come such stupidity.
The United States economy is so large and vibrant that you can add together the next four largest economies and not get the size of the US economy, and has this thread has pointed out we are only 5% of world population.

Compare any East Asian economy to the US please. I like a good laugh.

The US utilizes 5% of the world's resources because you other idiots can't develop an economy that can utilize them.
What is the cost of gasoline in Europe? Out of the roof to help finance your moronic cradle to grave socialist states that are disintegrating before your eyes.

Beijing as a vibrant economy? The Chinese are utterly dependent on exports and predominately exports to the United States. There isn't more fragile economic growth in the world than in China. The Chinese are so ignorant of economics they have to peg their currency to the US dollar to supply a market pricing mechanism for goods that their central planning committees can't do any better than the Soviets did.
The Chinese economy is already being undercut by cheaper labor in other countries like Vietnam, India, and in Latin America.

Another ignorant statement that you need to export more than you import. I can't even begin to educate you on balance of trade fallacies.

Please post something meaningful.

The American economy is vibrant because the world chooses to do business here.
China is actually inhibiting foreign investment over the last few years by requiring a sizable Chinese stake in foreign companies and access to what are considered trade secrets.

The US is the most attractive economic investment area in the world.

Putin33 (111 D)

Name a single other economy where unemployment shot up as much as the US after the liquidity crunch.

The US trade deficit caused the great economic recession. Asian economies, plush with reserves due to their fears of being subject to the IMF in case of another 1997 crisis, accumulated vast reserves in the aftermath of that crisis thanks to the trade deficit with the US. This is why their economies have done quite well despite the recession. However they had quite restricted in what they could do with those reserves, due to "national security fears" of the US. So they invested heavily in debt instruments, giving US access to cheap credit, fueling the housing bubble. The debt instruments had the added effect of avoiding runs on the dollar and keep exports profitable. This access to cheap capital from abroad, combined with banking "originate & distribute" restructuring, as well as an artificially low interest rate by the fed (implemented to avoid a recession after the tech bubble burst) led to an flood of cheap credit & risky investments.

Trade destroys economies.

The mute post was directed at someone else.
The border problem I was talking about was boats coming in on the southern coast (obviously, I might add considering the aspect in question was the navy).
True, the US economy is huge, but only an idiot like you can't seem to grasp the fact that it's on it's way down to the bottom. Meanwhile, as I pointed out multiple times with multiple stats, other countries are on the rise. If this still can't get through your thick skull, then just search anywhere for GDP projections. It's practically a general concensus that US GDP global rank is going to drop. The only question is when. Most projections show before 2050, 2020 is becoming a far more popular prediction for when China surpasses the US.

You do get a good laugh out of comparing US and East Asian economies don't you? I do too. It's pretty sad how dependent US is. That doesn't quite work the other way around though. US imports are almost 95% from China. To compare, China only exports about 20% of its goods to the US.
The US uses 30% of the world's resources because it keeps borrowing and borrowing, which very directly lead to the very large trade deficit.
As for gas price, it's actually cheaper in China. Just so you know. ^.^
And again, you ooze ignorance when you think that it's China that's dependent on US. Ok, true, there is a dependence, but nowhere near the US dependence on China. Just look up the stats for yourself.
Well, ignorant or not, it's working.

YOu better back that up, or I can do filet you right now on the spot, okay?

Last year we had roughly 1.9 TRILLION imports total (this is dollars). Of china that was about 365 billion according to the US Government site.

Unless my math is really bad, that is a FAR FAR cry from 95%.

Where did you find your 95% number anyways?
