Improper Civil Disorder Disbands
In autumn 1905 of gameID=42802, I believe disbands were improperly adjudicated. Russia was in civil disorder, and had a unit in St. Pete and in Black Sea, yet Black Sea was not disbanded - Sevastopol was.

Reliability rating?
How about including some sort of reliability rating for players, so that a game's creation criteria could include a way to prevent frequent NMRers from playing?

Seemingly odd two-player draw in WTA Gunboat
I didn't expect to win in my first WTA game (I was England),
gameID=42868
but I'm suspicious that Turkey gave up on the possibility of winning in Autumn '09 with the simple move F Irish Sea to Lvp.
Does this play look odd to anyone else?

Gunboat-125 user banned
Got a note that a user was banned and to see the game for details, but it being a gunboat, there's no chatbox. Still there's a message saying unread messages, but no apparent way to check them. Is this a feature?

Support hold and bounce.
I have an army in Gascony, other in Spain, other in Piedmont.
The orders i give are: G: move Mars; P: move Mars; S: support hold Gascony.
If i'm attacked in Gascony with support move, will the support hold make the fight even and thus i keep gascony, or will it be invalidated since the army has moved (or at least, attemped to)?

Strat's Make Crap Up Thread
Ask me a question. I will supply you with an answer. It will have no correspondence with reality, but will be amusing

Will it be amusing in and of itself, or related to the question asked?

What is the efficient markets hypothesis?
stratagos (3269 D(S))
23 Nov 10 UTC
I'm actually quite busy, Sebastian. However, I've been told my productivity is directly linked to how much I type. Therefore I must type more to be more productive. Unfortunately, they didn't specify *what* I should type, but a lack of clarity on their part is not a problem on *my* part.

The amusement factor can be gauged via the calculation X + Y, where X is the Universal Amusement Quotient and Y is (jn my case) the North American Middle Class White Male variant. Depending on how far your Y values vary from my Y value will determine how amusing you find my statements.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
23 Nov 10 UTC
Abgemacht, while it is quite possible that other people are engaged in the same activities, I'm not responsible for them - only for myself. If their X+Y values are lacking, they may appear to be serious, and idiotic. However, because *my* Y value is different than theirs, someone who has the North American Upper Middle Class Spoiled Child Y value may write something I think is completely moronic instead of amusing
stratagos (3269 D(S))
23 Nov 10 UTC
The Efficient Markets Hypothesis holds that if you put stuff on the checkouts that people wouldn't normally buy, there is an increased chance they'll pick up a nose hair trimmer or another candy bar for their fat asses. Therefore, it is efficient to have goods at the front of the market, and vendors compete to achieve their spaces. Competition can consist of anything from double blind taste tests to arena combat, depending on the value of the location
Sebastinovich (313 D)
23 Nov 10 UTC
I see. And how does one find his or her X and Y values?
stratagos (3269 D(S))
23 Nov 10 UTC
The Y value is based on your socioeconomic class. The X value is the humor elements that transcend race, class, language and society - funny faces when someone gets kicked in the junk, slipping and falling on ice, ect

Why is does each lunar cycle take 28 days?
Katsarephat (100 D)
23 Nov 10 UTC
@Draugnar: No, it's just a simple case of an omitted word as I type quickly while waiting for code to compile... Try "with all females *who* are important to you... at once".

I agree it was an embarrassing typo, but I don't really appreciate the suggestion that English is not my first language. That was highly unnecessary and I'd like an apology.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
23 Nov 10 UTC
Wait, Kats, was that sarcasm?
Draugnar (0 DX)
24 Nov 10 UTC
It wasn't meant as a slam. Last time I corrected someone's grammar here, I got chewed up one side and down the other for it because English wasn't the poster's primary language. So this time I ask first and still get chewed out for it.

But seeing as English is your primary language (or you indicate it is), you forgot the participle "the" as well. "with all *the* females hwo are important to you.'"

Oh and I won't apologize for asking if English was your primary language or not as it was sincere considering how fucked up the sentence was as written.
Stratagos....If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it...does it make a sound?

"Were you born a glutton for punishment? Or are you trying to make up for some dastardly deed you did in your youth? "

My desires from an S&M standpoint are on the other side of the coin, thank you very much. They manifested in my late teens. Why you would even think to ask me this is kinda... strange, but whatever

"How much do you think I enjoyed sex with all females that are important to you... at once? "

Well, lets see. On the one hand, you have the concept of "twins". On the other hand, the "twins" in question are my mostly senile grandmother who will be hitting 89 this year and her sister (my great aunt). So I'd say.... probably not as much as you thought you were going to when you wrote the question

"Why is does each lunar cycle take 28 days? "

Because God mandated Sunday as a day of rest, and that's the seventh day, and there are four seasons, so God decided that four sundays in a row made a neat arrangement, and hence he set the moon in it's orbit that way to remind us of the whole 7 x 4 thing. Either that, or the constraints of orbital mechanics

"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it...does it make a sound? "

The tree itself? Of course not, as it knifes straight through the ground like a blowtorch through a marshmallow. The resultant volcano, on the other hand, makes quite a big boom when the tree eventually hits the mantle and disintegrates, leaving a convenient tree-shaped hole all the way to the surface.

Your right that I used the wrong word, but in the case it was required. What sounds better and actually makes sense? "with all females are important to you" or "with all the females who are important to you"? Every time I heard dropped articles, I think of "Murder By Death". *The* Mr. Wang! What is *the* meaning of this!

What is your opinion on the US's foriegn oil policy.
follow up question:
XBOX or PS?
stratagos (3269 D(S))
24 Nov 10 UTC
I think the United States can meet it's domestic needs without resorting to cheap imported foreign massage oil. The quality is often substandard, the whole 'ten gallon jug' thing makes it feel like an assembly line, and it is often gritty from the soft, silent tears of the poor sweatshopping bastards who have to assemble it.

Peoplesoft has a decent portfolio of software - or at least they did prior to Oracle eating them - but I always thought PS Financials lacked the flexibility I was looking for. On the other hand, I haven't used X Windows in forever, but I've always thought that trying to use dumb terminals was a waste when you could spend just a little more to get a real computer in there
