Looking for a sitter
I will be away all weekends from now on so I can't constantly ask for a 3 day pause. So I'm looking for a sitter.
I'm in two games. one wta game with high pot (700+D), in which I'm almost defeated and a C1 summer league game (doing well there).
Anyone interested?

Martial law in the deep south?
Rumor mill speculates a forcible evacuation from the gulf coast.
Normally I dismiss martial law rumors pretty quick, but given the toxicity of the water, beaches, and even air from texas to florida (some symptoms of corexit (sp) poisoning as far north as N carolina (unverified) I think this is a real possibility
What do you think?

The Tales Today That Will Be Classic Legends Tomorrow
We look into the past in the West and see a lot of heroes and stories and mythologies that still are important to us today. The Epic Of Gilgamesh. The Old Testament of Adam and Eve, David, Moses. The Iliad, Oddysey, and Aeneid. The Oedipus Cycle. The New Testament and The Story of Jesus. The Arthurian Legend. The Arabian Knights. Robin Hood. We have so many franchises and stories and sagas today- which ones will be/should be remembered and revered as classics in the centuries to come?

This Time On Philosophy Weekly: Science vs. Ethics: What's Wrong With
It's the tale as old as time, "scientific progress" vs. "what's right." On the one hand, we have stem cells and other such biological and engineering works that could potentially improve life for mankind drastically, cure diseases, make man stronger, more versatile...man can literally improve his design. But then you have the other side, and the powerful question, "Who are WE to play God and alter such things?" Should we be afraid of "playing God?" Is there a line? If so, what?

Illegal immigration and drugs.
One of the main reasons why Republicans want to build a border fence is because of all the drugs illegal immigrants are bringing in, and when they do, they generally trample upon the land close to the border. (Continued)

Is ANYONE normal here???
All we read on these threads is some ancient philosophicla bullshti about this or that or the other thing. Fuck all that. You people constantly rehashing old arguments. None of us contributing new ideas with our asinine, pompous posts! FUCK THAT! Somebody tell me something NORMAL!

What the hell did you eat for dinner? And how's your dog doing, for God's sake????

Today I woke up (tired from being up until 4am, skinny dipping and 'redecorating' the neighborhood) Woke up at 11 and made a salad from the garden, rolled a smoke and walked downtown to meet with my lawyer and an FBI agent (which I was really nervous about but turned out ok) After that I cleaned a bunch of shit, Helped moonflowers go up a trellis, checked on a corkscrew willow at a place called the 'ruins' (which is a really old crumbling complex in some nearby woods with trees and all sorts of flowers growing out of it) and smoked a blunt there with some friends who brought instruments.
Planted a few hundred sunflowers in the city of toledos lanes, worked on a jewelery box that I am making (which is turning out really nice) listened to this 80 year old guy try to sell me vocal lessons for 25$ an hour, then upon learning I am flat broke offered to do it for free. So know I'm apparantly in a doo-wop group with this ancient man named louis.
Had a beautiful girl tell me she loved me while sitting on our roof in a flower patch.
Had a crazy asshole internet harass me today because I dont want to fuck him anymore. Trying to come up with a plan to plant a few thousand trees on my street (which is basically only a problem of aquiring that many desirable trees , since I'm gonna plant them anyway)... um what else today...
I dont know I did some other shit but I've only really been awake for like 12 hours, so the night is young!!!!!

And I'm sortof hungry now
ava2790 (232 D(S))

Sicarius (673 D)
22 Jul 10 UTC
well its also not exactly a typical day for me.
for example I've never had to meet with he FBI before.
But I guess even my typical days arn really 'normal'

Anyway I dont think krellins point was to hear everyone talk about how much they hate their job and what tv show they watch at 930 pm. Just to move away from the constant philosophical debate. at least in this thread. I did my best to oblige.

whats normal anyway?

Sicarius (673 D)

LOL

+1 krellin...even if that means -10 obiwanobiwan (hey, a good burn is a good burn...) ;)

My two Shih-Tzu puppies (just under a year old) Jake and Elwood are doing well, they're bigger now that their legs are longer and their bodies are stronger they like to jump on everything (and everyone) they can.

My aquarium fish are all doing well, I'm an aquarium enthusiast, I have a pretty good sized freshwater tank with a young, fat, growing Goldfish (Hamlet...I got him the same time I got a Black Moor Godlfish, and the Moor was named Othello after the famous Moor from that Shakespeare play, so I just named the Goldfish Hamlet), two speedy little Oto Catfish (Trevor and Carolyn, named for two very hyper theatre friends of mine), a Plecostymus (Corcoran, named for Captain Corcoran of the Gilbert and Sullivan opera "HMS Pinafore," and he replaced Verne named for Jules Verne, poor Verne was growing so fast he got his head stuck in one of his hiding places and it killed him, but I got another after being pretty sad because I love Plecos, they're from the Amazon and they look like no other sort of catfish and they can grow, if kept healthy, to 20 ft. or so and live for 20 or so years) a lone Serpae Tetra named John Lennon (I had a group of four, all named for a member of the Fab Four, George died a couple weeks in, Paul got his tail too close to the filter or so one day and that was all for him, and Ringo gave up the game a few months later...so ironically, Tetra Fish John has lived the longest of the Fish Beatles) and an African Dwarf Frog (Aristophanes, the father of Greek and Western Comedy in plays and all that followed...yeah, I don't just name my pets Spot or Lefty or Flipper, do I, now?) ;)

And...I have yet to eat dinner...

Hey, lay off, ava, I came in peace (besides, I had a solid hour-plus, 6-person heated debate on the bus back from college today, it was ridiculous, me, this mild and nice girl I know, her friend, an old black guy who was from the fire-and-brimstone school, a middle-aged black woman behind him, and this "non-denominational" Christian, it was one of the more intense and fun debates ever, I literally just missed my stop just so I could keep going with the debate...that's how devoted to this stuff I am, had to ride the line all the way back around.)

So I'm exhausted after that debate, no philosophy tonight.

Now, if you want to talk aquarium fish, I'm up for that...

Fresh water or marine tank? I currently have a 29 gallon euro front (curved) with a 11 inch bala shark named Mack the Knife and a 9 inch black ghost knife named Ghostie after TGM. I had the shark first and the first two verses of Mack the Knife always come to mind when I think of sharks. That and West Side Story.

Thoughts on Determinism.
I am a firm believer in hard determinism, and my beliefs in determinism (and cyclic universe theory) lead me to believe that god does not exist, not vice versa. I assume that there are quite a few people on this site that aren't determinists, so who is willing to argue with me?

How did you first learn about Diplomacy?
One of my History teachers in middle school had our whole class play it. I think we were making two moves a week or so, and his plan was to actually grade us on how well we did. I was Germany and was kicking ass... until someone snuck into the classroom one day after school was out and knocked over all the pieces. Our teacher hadn't written down the positions so the game just ended. It was lame, but some friends and I started playing on our own.
