Coastal Support -- Quick Question

Assume I have a fleet in Norway and another fleet in St. Petersburg (SC); can these two fleets support-hold each other, even though they are not on adjacent COASTLINES (but in adjacent territories)?

I put myself in gunboat as It is worth only half points and a survival is good enough for that I put BeSM and MM in normal as I think that is where others will put their strong players aswell. And Le roi told me he was open to anything so public press seemed best fit for him as it's a mixture of normal and gunboat with limited talking.

According to those stats, in Group A, the expected percentage of total points that each group will get is the following:
England 18%
Western Europe 17%
Low Countries 16%
Asia 15%
East Coast 15%
San Diego 12%
Oklahoma 9%

Note that this is just comparing expected number of points. This doesn't give odds of each team winning the Group. That would be a lot more complex.

My game is gonna be interesting. I've checked the history of most of the folks in my 'group', and it seems there is a tendency towards defensive play and slow expansion. Likely it'll come down to 'whoever stabs someone first gets ganged up on'.

How were these groups seeded? I have MadMarx and Ghost in my game! Is someone trying to keep Canada down? Our group is easily the toughest.

The only "seeding" was done to split multiple teams from the same place.
So, firstly the 3 california (Cal, San Di, Pacific Coast) were put into the three groups. Then the other pairs were worked out (England/London, Aus1/Aus2, canada/Toronto). Then, whilst making sure these groups stayed separate, the teams were placed completely randomly.

What do the numbers (140 1~9) mean? I don't see how they relate to the ghost ratings.

I believe the 140 is average GR for that group, then the 1~9 is odds of 1 to 9 for that player winning

Banlieue 13

i just watched the sequel to Banlieue 13 (one of my favorite movies) last night - sneak preview. it's called Banlieue 13 - Ultimatum. it was great - similar to the first one in a lot of ways, but sweet, fun, ridiculous, and fabulous all at different times. highly recommend it, and i bet this crowd would like it a lot.

New to Diplomacy

I've heard about this game for a long time, but I've never actually played. I found out about this website by watching an online video review of it, so I thought I'd check it out.

I'm posting because I was wondering if there were any tips that anyone could give me in regards to playing the game online and or playing the game in general. I guess, basically the stuff that will keep an inexperienced player from annoying the veterans.
