Yea and people said the same about the year 2000. Just because they were good at math and astronomy some people think they held the secret of the universe. As bad as the ancient astronauts theory.

This is a topic I find interesting although I don't see why it's here. I think people mis-interpret the concept of the end of time. People tend to think of it in black and white but I don't believe that the Mayans did nor should we. It's not the end OF time but the end of A time. In short,it's like the end of the year. Time doesn't stop but one age is over and another is waiting to begin. It's the December 21st of thousands of years. The good times are gone. It's winter and life is harder. It doesn't mean that life ceses to exist just that it recedes. It's the same as winter. Under the snow and in the darkess recesions of nature there's life waiting to bloom again. There's evidence that humankind has been through these changes before and I think we wil again although not the same way we did this time. There have been smaller changes in recent years, (the last 6,000 more or less) but the Mayna's are saying that this is a major change which hasn't happened in a more than 12,000 years. Evidence of these changes can be found throughout the ancient world. This is why we "modern" humans cannot duplicate achievements of the ancients. We are of another time.

If it is true I find it kinda creepy that the Mayans predicted the end of time around the time that our planets are to allign. I dont belevie the world will end it is just a wonder how the Mayans could of calculated when our planets would allign.

We don't buils stone henge or prymids because we can't. It's been tried and they failed. It is true that this exact day is in allignment with the planets but at this moment I can't remember which ones. I'll have to look for it. That is the whole basis for this calendar. It's not based on faith but the true and proven movement of the universe. To compare this exact science with Nostradamus is belitling. This calender is the most precise ever created. This is true the only argument is in the interpretation. For those that compared it to 200 that's like comparing apples and oranges. One was created by man and the other was created by the universe.

Well if it is true (still dont belevie that the world will end) but it is a little scary to think about when you think that it takes us months to figure this out even with our technology Imagine how long it took them.......

no, we trid doing it with only the technology we knew they had at the time, we've lost the knowledge of how to build a hendge, but only because it became unsuccessful, we now have new technologyies and bulldozers, replicating stone hendge would be rather easy, considering some of the strip mines we have built.

the planets are always in some alignment, I don't know what particular alignment you happen to be talking about, but as you're talking about it i'm going to assume you are interested in superstition and psuedo-science. And therefore your views are based on some flawed logic and misconceptions about reality.

Not true. The precision cannot be matched and this calender is more accurate than ours. we nee a leep year to fix the problem. About the allignment I haven't attended astromy class in a long time but there is a particular allignment on this day. First of all, Dec,24th is when the sun begins to make it's rise for the year. It's the reason that the 25th is the birthday of jesus.

Also, their calendar is NOT more accurate then ours. It is just very, very accurate for an ancient civilization. Our calendar has a leap year not because we can't think of anything better, but because it's good enough not to throw the whole world into turmoil by changing it.
