BACKGROUND:
While the bioterror virus ravages the city outside, despite the best efforts of the JTF and others to restore order, the staff and patients of the Wjessop Asylum for the Chronically Insane have barricaded themselves in the building in an effort to keep both virus and looters at bay.
However, in the confusion, a gang of violent criminals have sneaked into the facility and disguised themselves as patients, seeking to avoid the JTF and, if possible secure the asylum as a longer-term base of operations. Of course, the present staff and inmates will have to be removed - but the gang lacks the manpower to overwhelm all the inhabitants in one swoop. The staff and patients begin to suspect that all is not well, and in an atmosphere of paranoia and mistrust, mob rule is in danger of taking hold.
Can the medical staff and inmates root out the criminals? Or will they one-by-one be butchered in their beds by the mafia?
TOWN ROLES:
DOCTOR: You are the DOCTOR. Each night you may choose to visit a player - if they are attacked, you will save their life. Players who are saved will be notified that the doctor saved them. If they are not attacked, they will not be notified of your visit.
DEVELOPER:
You are the DEVELOPER. You start with no abilities or powers beyond those of a Vanilla Patient. Each night, you gain one ability / modifier from the following list, determined at random:
1. First Aider: You gain a ONE-USE doctor save, use-able from the next night onwards, in which you select one player (by messaging the GMs). If that player is targeted by the Mafia NK, or any other killing action during the night, you will save them. If the player you protect is not targeted that night, you still use up this ability.
2. Lightning Rod: Once gained, you may activate this ability ONCE per game, at night. On the night which it is active, you will passively re-direct ALL night actions onto yourself. This includes the Mafia's kill as well as all investigations, protections, and so forth.
3. Motivator: Once gained, you may activate this ability ONCE per game, during the DAY. To use the ability, you select a target. If the targeted player survives the day, they will gain one EXTRA use of their main night ability, if they have one (so, a Doctor could protect two people, but if you accidentally target a Hooker, they can roleblock two people).
4. Vanilla-iser: During the next DAY phase (only), you may target a player. They will lose any role-related powers they have. If they are town, they become a Vanilla Patient (if they are not one already). If they are mafia, they become a Mafia Goon (if they were not one already).
5. Bulletproof: Once you have this modifier, you will automatically be wearing a bulletproof vest that protects you from the *first* gunshot you receive, and is then destroyed. It does not expire - it remains in effect until you are targeted by a shot.
6. Vengeful: If you are Lynched, you will kill the last person who placed a vote on you. This ability is exhausted once it is triggered.
7. Voteless: During the next DAY phase, your vote will not be counted. You must still cast a vote as normal.
8. Paranoid: From the next night onwards, if anyone visits you at night (for any reason) you will kill them.
INNOCENT CHILD:
You are the INNOCENT CHILD. Once per game you may confirm your town status by PM-ing the GMs with the code "## CONFIRM INNOCENCE". The GM will post in the thread confirming you as the Innocent Child.
GUN SMUGGLER: You are the GUN SMUGGLER. You have managed to sneak three GUNS which you have stashed in the Asylum. At night, you may go out of your room and give a gun to another player. Guns given out may be fired at any time, day or night, except in the 10 minutes immediately before EoN or EoD. You may not arm yourself.
ORACLE:
You are the ORACLE. At night you may choose two players by sending a PM to both GMs. At the end of the night, target #1 will have a dream, in which the alignment of target #2 will be revealed. Your action does not count as a visit, but can still be roleblocked. Target #2 does not know they have been targeted.
UNIVERSAL BACKUP:
You are the UNIVERSAL BACKUP. At any time in the game, you may assume the role of a Town PR that has died. You will gain all their abilities, but any X-shot abilities are not recharged / replenished if they had already been used.
ROLE INVESTIGATOR:
You are the ROLE INVESTIGATOR. Each night you may investigate a player. You will learn what role they are.
CCTV OPERATOR:
You are the CCTV Operator. Each night you may select a player. You will be able to see whether or not that player leaves their room during the night.
POTATO SLICER:
You are the POTATO SLICER. Good for you. At night you may choose to slice a number of potatoes from 1 to 10. This has no effect. *SQUAWK*
MAFIA ROLES:
Note that the text marked /// will only be included if a TRAITOR is present in the game.
DOPPELGANGER:
You are the DOPPELGANGER. During the first DAY, you must pick a target. If that target dies, you will morph into a mafia-aligned version of their role, gaining any powers they had (but not any items they possessed). Powers which have limited charges are not re-charged. HOOKER:
You are the HOOKER. Each night, you may visit a player. This will roleblock them and prevent them from peforming any night actions. At night, you may talk to your Mafia team-mates <NAMES> in the Mafia QT at <LINK>. ///You are aware that one of the other patients is a TRAITOR who is sympathetic to your cause.///
CORRUPTOR:
You are the CORRUPTOR. For the first four days of play, during the day, you MUST cast a SECOND, additional vote, in secret, by sending a PM to both GMs in the format ##SECONDVOTE <PLAYER>. Your public vote and second vote may be cast for seperate targets, or both for the same target. At the end of the day, both your public vote, and your secret second vote, will be counted to determine the result of the lynch vote. The EoD vote summary will show who the mysterious second vote was cast for, but will not reveal your identity, and it will always be added to the vote last, irrespective of when you PMed the GMs. This power is in effect for the first FOUR days. From Day 5 onwards you revert to only having a single vote. POISONER:
You are the POISONER. You have concocted a deadly poison. ONCE during the game, at night, you may poison another player. At the end of the night they will be notified that they have been poisoned. The poison takes 24 hours to kill them - they will die at the mid point of the day. The Doctor cannot save a player from the effects of the poison. At night, you may talk to your Mafia team-mates <NAMES> in the Mafia QT at <LINK>. ///You are aware that one of the other patients is a TRAITOR who is sympathetic to your cause.///
TRAITOR:
You are the TRAITOR. While you are not part of the main Mafia gang, you support their aims and must work for a Mafia win. You know that the other Mafia are <NAMES>, but you may not talk to them at night. While any other Mafia are alive, you may not carry out the Mafia Nightkill. If however the other Mafia area all dead, you gain the ability to carry out a Nightkill. If the Mafia select you as their Nightkill target, they will realise your identity at the last moment, and spare you.
MAFIA GOON:
You are a MAFIA GOON. At night, you may talk to your Mafia team-mates <NAMES> in the Mafia QT at <LINK>. ///You are aware that one of the other patients is a TRAITOR who is sympathetic to your cause.///
GODFATHER:
You are the GODFATHER. If you are investigated, scanned, or targeted by any action which reveals role or alignment, you will appear to be a Vanilla Patient. At night, you may talk to your Mafia team-mates <NAMES> in the Mafia QT at <LINK>. ///You are aware that one of the other patients is a TRAITOR who is sympathetic to your cause.///
NINJA:
You are the NINJA. If you perform the Mafia Nightkill, or any other night actions, you will not be seen doing so. At night, you may talk to your Mafia team-mates <NAMES> in the Mafia QT at <LINK>. ///You are aware that one of the other patients is a TRAITOR who is sympathetic to your cause.///
SQUAWKING PARROT:
You are the SQUAWKING PARROT. You win if the POTATO SLICER is lynched AND the Mafia team goes on to win the game. If the POTATO SLICER dies in any other way, or remains alive at the end of the game, you lose - even if the Mafia team wins.
