Every F$&@ing Game Ruined!!!!
Every f$@&ing game ruined by NMR/CD's ... and then the D Bags who get the advantage won't cancel the game! Pathetic guys! You know who you are, and you're freakin' pathetic point grubbing thieves! You can't play win a straight up fight, so you resort to playing when you've got an unfair advantage.

Can we PLEASE create an "auto-cancle" feature so this stops happening?

Mine is the first sentence of Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment.

My least favourite part is the bit where you wrote it down instead of having an uncodified constitution that evolves as society evolves.

lol without that sentence my respectable and hardworking grandfather could be kicked out of the country ;)
Respectfully, fuck off
leon1122 (190 D)
13 Nov 16 UTC
With all due respect, your respectable and hardworking grandfather's parents should have gone through the proper immigration procedure.
TrPrado (461 D)
13 Nov 16 UTC
Haha, there was no paperwork to go through for my great grandfather. He was likely a refugee from the Mexican Revolution at a time where immigration paperwork was only really looking up on Europeans.

My father's mother's family was in New Mexico when it was part of Spain. They didn't cross the border, the border crossed over them.
leon1122 (190 D)
13 Nov 16 UTC
TrPrado, if your great grandparents were seen as refugees, then your family wouldn't have been kicked out regardless of the fourteenth amendment.
TrPrado (461 D)
13 Nov 16 UTC

There was no such process to recognize anyone as a refugee. Refugee law wouldn't be a thing for quite some time.

I am also not a fan of the Second Amendment.

The Eighteenth Amendment.
leon1122 (190 D)
13 Nov 16 UTC
Yes, jmo, and I dislike it because it gives incentive for illegal aliens to come here, give birth to anchor babies, and then know that the government can't do shit about it.

Look on the bright side - if we raise the minimum wage to $15/hour, our currency will inflate, meaning that the $2.10/week wage that undocumented people in our country earn will be worth even less!
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

How would you redefine it to ensure all people who should get equal protection do get it?
"Look on the bright side - if we raise the minimum wage to $15/hour, our currency will inflate, meaning that the $2.10/week wage that undocumented people in our country earn will be worth even less!"

pretty sure you're joking and not making any serious point here, but in the interest of intellectual exploration: employers would raise the wages they offer illegal immigrants if you raised the minimum wage. inflation would increase their products' prices so they would be able to offer a higher wage while still saving money on labor by using illegal immigrants. depending on the effect of inflation on the exchange rate, this would have an indeterminate effect on illegal immigration
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Nov 16 UTC
Possibly, though it may take some time. In the short term at least, an increase in minimum wage would be a substantial incentive to become a citizen.

Though yes, I was joking.
I figured, but this topic is interesting =)

And yes, possibly it would be an incentive. Depends on the responsiveness of businesses to the wage law. I would expect them to be very responsive since it wouldn't be a very sudden change if it happened -- it would be all over the news and especially the larger corporations would have all kinds of flies on the wall of the conference rooms where this gets negotiated in Congress.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Nov 16 UTC
I would say that my company couldn't afford to pay higher wages, but my company can't afford to pay wages at all, so that would be a moot point.
Well then your company would just go under with a new wage law. (which is one of the main fears of minimum wage laws in the first place)
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Nov 16 UTC
Hardly. My company could be free to run if I wanted it to be. But yes, some might. Those that can't afford to pay a livable wage would definitely find it a struggle, but certain incentives for businesses that could comply with a new wage law prior to it becoming a total, federal mandate or broadening the standards that businesses can use to apply for government subsidies or other forms of business aid and relief would assist with that. New small businesses are already exempt from a certain amount of taxes for a certain amount of time, which should (and currently does) help new businesses learn to operate in a new economic landscape. There are ways to make it happen that can lessen the burden on employers as much as possible. We're all simply in it to make some money doing something we're prideful about, nothing more, but employees need to be treated right.

I don't know if I'd call it the worst, but the application of the privileges and immunities clause of the 14th Amendment to the 2nd Amendment is certainly one of the more *interesting* bits of the Constitution.

@ Capt Brad: "so jam, you are against pardons then?"

Yes. I am against the President having some kind of infallible power to pardon criminals without any reference to the Supreme Court or any other regard for the rule of law. Look at all the dodgy people Bill Clinton pardoned on his last day in office. It stinks.

Extra Terrestial Influence
So I think most of the world is in agreement that the universe is so big that life almost definitely exists on other planets. That question is kind of boring though. The real question is, have aliens had contact with earth in the present or past.
The results are in, and the evidence points to a resounding yes!

Why is there such an epidemic of cheating? I've had several games be paused and irreparably damaged by cheating investigations. Can anyone explain why people are so invested in winning that they won't abide by the rules?

Maniac 2020
Recent appointments to high office have created controversy among progressive, intelligent people. I'm talking about two things, of course. First of all, the election of Donald Trumpf as Leader Of The Free World (TM). Secondly, and no less controversially, the selection of a new Moderator who was not Maniac.

A Divide
I've seen horrible reactions these past 24 hours. Some celebrate that they have a champion, thinking he will bring this country to its greatest times. Others panic, fearing the same man will erode their rights and encourage persecution which will endanger their lives. Those whose views don't fall into that binary shirk away, fearing their voice is no longer welcome. This thread is about the lofty goal of uniting a further dividing nation.

Refugees and Asylum seekers
So i had a thought, under international law, those seeking asylum are entitled to protection if they have reason to fear for their life. Thus pretty much anyone fleeing the Syrian war should probably automatically be granted asylum.

What about LGBT folk from the US, fearing political repression and violence in the streets. Should we (europeans) open our borders?
