Microsoft's AI experiment
Microsoft had a research experiment called "Tay" which was a chat-robot driven by Artificial intelligence. The experiment got cancelled because internet trolls learned how to teach it to churn out racist and other socially unacceptable text. Microsoft has cancelled "Tay" but said that they will soon be coming out with version two of the project...

A/T alliances where Austria does not get boned
Please post examples of success -- I know theoretically it should work, but when I am Austria I always get stabbed, and when I am Turkey I always find the knife irresistible at some point. I want this alliance to succeed, but there always seem to be reasons to end it early.

Donald Trump says women who have abortions "should be punished"

Pro-choice people get a lucky break because Trump attacks them and he's Trump.

What was hilarious was when Kasich said that women not having access to reproductive healthcare was unacceptable. This from a man who has done more to deny women access to reproductive healthcare than virtually anybody in the country.
Trump's comments are completely in line with what the GOP has been saying for the last 8 years. Like Steephie said, the only reason people are outraged is because it is Trump.
Octavious (2802 D)

Reading what the BBC reports, Trump said women should face "some form of punishment" for having an illegal abortion.

I don't actually see anything remotely controversial in that. Everything illegal should have some form of punishment, otherwise why bother making it illegal? Lots of potential controversy over what exactly should be illegal, sure, but why on earth the fuss over saying something illegal should be punished?

Perhaps Trump has unwittingly discovered a workable compromise in America's silly little abortion debate. Make all abortion illegal, but remove any form of punishment for anyone involved. Everyone wins!
krellin (80 DX)

(+2)
Headline is purposely inaccurate. Donald Trump was asked IN THE HYPOTHETICAL is Abortions were illegal, should people involved be punished.

so....if there is a law that abolishes and activity, then obviously, by any logical conclusion, there would be a penalty for violating the law. That, uh....that's kind of the purpose of laws.

Duhhh.....

Let's take an alternate concept to remove the emotion from the scenario. Let's say, for example...oh, I don't know...that the government says it is illegal to blow up your neighbors house. If there government THAN announces...."But, for anyone caught blowing up their neighbors house, there will be absolutely no punishment..." How effective do you think the "law" outlawing blowing up your neighbors house would be.

I get it...it's an emotional issue and most of you are thoroughly incapable of exercising logic when emotion is involved. But...DUHHHHH.....
Putin33 (111 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
No, actually, they don't win. We already have that system effectively now. That's why DIY abortion searches are at an all time high.
Putin33 (111 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
The typical line from the abortion zealots is to punish (or assassinate) the doctors and providers involved. The women are deemed "victims" of the doctors' nefarious plots, because women aren't actually human beings with minds (or bodies) of their own.

But they have no problem shouting "slut" and "bitch" at women going to clinics, that's for sure.
Jamiet99uk (898 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
@ Octavious, Krellin: Would you confirm that it is your view that when a law is broken, *everyone* present or otherwise involved must always face prosecution or sanction?

That seems to be the position you are taking. Am I right?
krellin (80 DX)
31 Mar 16 UTC
(+3)
Jamie - I never said "everyone present" in any crime must face prosecution. That's idiotic.

But please don't insult my intelligence and try to suggest that a mother caring for a child is "just present" when an abortion takes place, as opposed to being an active, willing participant. You are better than that, Jamie.

It's one thing to say you think abortion should be illegal. Got it. Not debating that. We are talking about a **hypothetical** in which abortion is made illegal, and therefore a mother is an active, willing participant in the process, no less than someone hiring a hitman is an active participant in the subsequent murder.

Just as a side note, Jamie, because I want to see where your thoughts go: If a mother caring a child in her womb is murdered and the child cannot be saved, should the murderer be charged with a double homicide -- i.e. charged with the death of the fetus? Because in US law, this is not an uncommon practice, even though abortion is legal. It's a bit....uh......confusing.

What are your thoughts on that?
KingCyrus (511 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
I hate Trump, but he did retract, or in his words "clarify," what he said. He later said that women should not be punished, only those who perform abortions.
krellin (80 DX)

And before we get too deep into this...everyone needs to just take a chill pill...abortion isn't about to be outlawed in the US. isnt' going to happen....this is just media hype, left-wing journalists trying to drag Trump down in the eyes of women, etc etc. Boring, standard 30 year old Democrat/media playbook. <Yawn>
krellin (80 DX)

@ Krellin, in response to your side note - that's an interesting question. My answer would be to say no, it's not a double homicide. However the fact that the foetus was also killed should be an aggravating factor since the woman (who is the murder victim) clearly did not consent to it, and so killing the foetus is a further violation of her person - this should be considered by the judge for sentencing purposes.
KingCyrus (511 D)

krellin, did it take you this long to figure that out???
Putin33 (111 D)

They're already financially and psychologically punishing women. Inflating drug costs, makidng them listen to ultrasounds, scaring them with propaganda about breast cancer, in some states they make then pay funerary costs for the replicating cells.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
31 Mar 16 UTC
Really? Why don't they let the women pay to have U2 perform at the funeral for the replicating cells as well?
Randomizer (722 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
Trump was a hypocrite because he said that the men responsible for the pregnancies shouldn't be punished.

Arizona governor Ducey is considering signing a bill that would punish doctors who don't follow a 16 year ago FDA abortion guideline that the FDA revised last year.

@ Jamie: "the fact that the foetus was also killed should be an aggravating factor "

Uhhh....this "fact" is not at all a fact in the pro-abortion world, otherwise they would be tacitly admitting that abortion kills and innocent person. So...careful about those statement. I believe they phrase they prefer is "unviable tissue mass" when justifying infanticide....(sorry, didn't mean to drop in provocative language there...)_

You forgot to quote the rest of Jamie's sentence, krellin.

"since the woman (who is the murder victim) clearly did not consent to it"

Whether you agree or not, he's pretty clear and non-hypocritical about it: if the mother consents, you can kill the foetus. If she doesn't consent, you can't kill the foetus.

Krellin, literally no-one is "pro-abortion". I support a woman's right to choose. That doesn't mean I go around encouraging happily pregnant women, who want to give birth, to have abortions instead.

Jamie, uhhh.....call it what you once. And yes, some people literally ARE pro-abortion. "Right to Choose" is such a childish, deceptive way to phrase the "right to kill another human" debate. It makes you essentially a liar before the first word.

But again...this isn't supposed to be a "pro/con abortion debate" I thought the topic was: "When someone breaks the law, should they be punished?"

Which people? Which people are actually going actively promoting abortion as a wonderful thing? Who?

Mary Anne Trump should have probably have been punished for not aborting Donald, but it's too late now.
Putin33 (111 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
Krellins buddies in the gop are using trap laws to ensure that women wait longer to get an abortion due to cost. But yeah they really care about human life. Question if a petry dish with a clump of cells and an infant were falling to the floor, which would you save?
Putin33 (111 D)
31 Mar 16 UTC
Nobody looking at fetal remains contained in a vacuum would say that's a human. Nobody looking at the cells excreted during a medical abortion would say that's a human. Krellin couldn't tell the difference between an abortion and a colonoscopy, why does his opinion matter.
krellin (80 DX)
31 Mar 16 UTC
(+1)
Jamie - just because you have a narrow idealistic point of view doesn't mean all pro-abortion people do.

An, forgive my (what you no doubt perceive as) twisting of your words, but if you are not anti-abortion, you are by default pro-abortion.

Again...let's remove the emotional idea of killing a baby from the discussion, and talk about:

Are you For or Against beating your wife?

Well, some would say, "I am definitely Anti-Beating My Wife". Someone Else may say, "I'm not for beating my wife - would never do it -- but who am I to say that you should or shouldn't beat your wife".

Tell me - is the man that is willing to let you decide to beat your wife "pro wife beating", because he sure as hell isn't against it. And...if he knows you Do beat your wife, and he stands by and lets it happen....er....uh....

....lets see...I'm certain that Jamie would say, "Donald Trump rally attenders punched a man....Trump was hosting the rally...therefore Donald is 100% responsible for the choices of the individuals at his rally...therefore Donald Trump is guilty of punching a protestor." (I got that right, didn't I? Isn't that the argument being made?)

OK...so if you know your neighbor beats his wife and you say, "Meh...*I* wouldn't do it...but that's his decision..." and you let it happen...are you not at least somewhat responsible for allowing her to be beat....you could have stopped it, you didn't do anything...you in effect are pro-neighbor-beating-his-wife....

Right?

Tell me where I'm wrong with that.
Yes...I get it...a "normal" person would never wish an abortion blah blah blah. Except you are dead wrong that abortion activists to some extent don't actively encourage abortion. DEAD wrong.
