Results of Ukraine-Referendum in The Netherlands.
A referendum was held about the pending association treaty between the EU and Ukraine. My country is the only country that hasn't agreed yet, because of a referendum with the unofficial outcome: "no" to the treaty. Some 32% voter turnout.
I voted "yes" and the general thought is that many people voted "no" against the EU in general, with Ukraine as collateral.
Thoughts?

The Right to Bear Arms - A Repudiation
So it turns out that the right to bear arms was actually only intended insofar as the usage by paramilitary militia groups in the event of a prolonged and protracted occupation by an enemy. The modern day interpretation of our gun laws is a fallacy perpetrated by the gun lobby to keep people dying, and keep their coffers flowing.

Multiple coasts question
So in a live gunboat game, as Austria I had armies in Serbia and Rumania, and a fleet in Greece. So I set my orders for Gre-Bul (SC) supported by both Ser and Rum.

Is there a place for Diplomacy statistics?
I've been casually reading through Richard Sharp's "The Game of Diplomacy" and he keeps referencing statistics he got from somewhere. I know the book is very dated but I was curious as to if there was still somewhere I could find these statistics and if they've been kept up to date.

Is it possible to have exactly one electron sent through an electric circuit somehow?
What I ideally want is two power sources which send one electron each at the same time into one single electric circuit, observing which route is taken (indirectly).
Thoughts on whether this is possible? Thoughts on how to do this?

How statistically possible is it to only get France or Turkey when you play on classic?
Throughout my 20 or so games that I have played, I have been France and Turkey a disproportionate amount of times. I'm not complaining, it just seems weird. In 2 recent games that just started, I drew Turkey in one, and France in another.

So I met this girl
She is moderately attractive, and plays board games. She is very close to my age and is a soil scientist. I was thinking I would play it slow and do the whole friendzone thing for a while intentionally but with an M. Night Shamalyan twist at some point and I surprise her with a new board game we can play or something.

Nation Simulator- MkII
It is that time again - to see how the citizens of webDip would run a country. Let's plan on starting after the Mafia game, but we can get our ducks in a row now. We will need a volunteer(s) to help run the show. This could take some amount of knowledge and dedication, as well as an unbiased nature. Please respond if you are interested in helping or participating.

I would have no issue moderating if we can have some basic rules laid out beforehand. (I dont know if we are basing this on a previous forum games rules or if we are starting from scratch.) I can maintain myself unbiased, and am a nerd enough to do the research nessecary.

Interested in helping or participating again *if* it gets a more concrete structure than last time somehow, because that was just 'Okay, you're councilmen going to an island with a boat, what would you like to bring?' and so on..
I think abge did a great job, but that's not my kind of game/simulation I guess.

KingCyrus (511 D)

I really think it is up to the mod(s) what sort of era they feel comfortable guiding. The more modern it is, generally the more complex it will be and more time commitment on the side of the moderator.

This looks very interesting, mind to tell me how it would work?
TrPrado (461 D)
15 Mar 16 UTC
We are administrators, legislators who run a society and make decisions about how to run that society. We also will be responsible for drafting a constitution. For how we make these decisions. The simulation, controlled by a moderator (or an automated system which steephie22 wants) that comes up with problems and situations for us to solve with legislation of our design and choosing, and the moderator/automation also gives us the reaction to our legislation. This seems pretty simple, but this takes up a decent amount of time catching up on debating issues. This fills up the thread pretty fast, which is why I asked to have the start to set after Mafia, because I knew I wouldn't time for a super thread until later, which is why I also haven't signed up for Mafia.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
15 Mar 16 UTC
Just to be clear, I don't need it to be automated, but I don't want things to happen solely because the GM says so. The GM shouldn't be God. Some dice and some ground rules go a long way for me.

steephie, I'm fine with a system. But I would encourage any would-be moderators to devise this and keep it secret. The players shouldn't know the likelihood of war, famine, natural disaster, etc.
I agree that there needs to be a system, or at least a developed world for events to take place in. Everything that happens shouldn't just be randomly decided by the GM.

I would be willing to moderate, I participated in the last webdipia exercise (I think), if I were to moderate I would use a 52 card deck and assign different things to each number / suit combination. Also id like to make it where whoever you elect as your leadership, or however the colonists agree to lead, will write out a requests letter to the king every turn. All requests will be considered but only a card draws worth of the requests will be granted, and all requests will arrive with the next shipment. So for example:
First request/ request grant - in Europe
Second request - upon arrival.
Third request/ second request grant- after 1 week IRL

This will continue throughout the game (unless the cards say otherwise)
At the end of each week when the request is entered and the prior request is granted all random events will be announced. i will also try to add random events mid week occasionally if the cards allow.

If we are talking world then let me detail that:
You are colonists under the classica crown establishing a colony in the new world. We do not know what awaits you although a prior expedition reported that a barbaric civilization (if you can call it that). We know that playdipian ships have been reported off the coast and thus be wary of foreign interference.

I was thinking we could stick with an early colonial times. Imagine circa 1600s but let's also assume that over time we can allow for technological advances. I'll try to stay as planted in reality but since no one is an expert in everything it may stray but never to an unbelievable extent. I will spend the next few days (mostly tonight) figuring out how the core will run. Then I'll post it here, I will not detail my card deck but I will detail my methods and what you will all see on your end.
KingCyrus (511 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
OK, lets try to coincide with the end of Mafia - no idea when that will end though. What are you thinking for number of players?

Steephie, would you like to work with CB or join the game?
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
16 Mar 16 UTC
I am willing to take any number under 19 as long as it is an odd number. I think it'll help keep things more streamlined with decisions on the long term. I'd be willing to work with steephie although if he'd like to join the game I can definitely handle it alone.
CommanderByron (801 D(S))
16 Mar 16 UTC
I also wish to add that any players can leave the colony at any time or join at any time simply by sending me a PM. I will announce their arrival or departure upon arrival of a shipment.
