Who Else...
Watches series with really bad acting, one-dimensional characters, and a plot that is the same every episode and has become a industry standard (hot chick has a spicy job, partner with which she exchanges humor below the level of Hades' toilet, boss who is watching over them as a paternal figure, nothing to laugh at, nothing to cry at just a major cringe every time a line gets spoken with flat faces)?

And then stop watching everytime a semi-emotional moment appears because it is just too much, too tedious to handle. The action might pass because at least it doesn't require you to be involved and moves fast, but.. oh god.. the fake emo-crap.

And then continue watching, because you realize that you are too lazy to do anything useful and you are bored out of your fuckin mind!

Does anyone else feel like this, or am I alone?
Draugnar (0 DX)

I don't watch those articular series. I assume you are thinking Bones and such.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
29 Dec 13 UTC
Who watches anything for acting instead of plot though?

I don't care if it's the best acting in the world... if it's about a man collecting stamps, I'm no more likely to watch it than if it's performed by a random person from the street.

The youth of today has way too much patience for bullshit. Lando posted some bullshit here earlier as well, that I'm done with for life after seeing 5 seconds of it. Why does the youth of today keep watching? Who sits through a whole episode of emo-crap or watches that "05 FUCK EM TYBG" shit for more than a 10 count?

I watch Pawn Stars like its going out of style.
Lopt (102 D)
29 Dec 13 UTC
I am talking about crap like CSI, Alias, Blacklist (the one I am currently speaking off) or any other crap series that doesn't even try to be good. Is it really that hard to make good series?! I agree with tend, how do people watch this shit, unless they have no life like myself? And I also watch Pawn Stars with it's fake created scenarios and the lame explanations but at least.. it has SOME substance, with some real people, but god.. these series and don't get me even started on the plot.. for fuck sake.. soo many unbelievable crap how do you make it up?!

And acting definitely is important, I could watch a stamp collector (Think Das Leben Der Andere) if it is acted well!

Yeah yeah stop watching TV. I had a TV from 1996-2011. I discarded it and did not get a new one. I do not miss it one bit. Currently web diplomacy.net replaces it for the human necessity of wasting time. It destroys fewer brain cells because it's somewhat engaging. Lopt, you need to start a live game right now.

STOP WATCHING!
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Dec 13 UTC
Except for blacklist which has already gone downhill, I don't watch any of the others mentioned. NCIS, Elementary and Person of Interest are about all I watch. Hawaii 5-O has started into that formula as well so I start watching each ep and if it doesn't appear to have something to contribute, I stop.
Lopt (102 D)
29 Dec 13 UTC
NCIS has the same dreadful formula, but at least the acting is somewhat digestible and overall I'd say the series is better then CSI, at least what I've picked up from it. But really, can the average american TV-viewer not cope with a plot that stretches behind 1-episode?! Do we really need all series to be bite-sized crap?!

And I agree with you tendmote, but my flesh is weak and my boredom is humongous!
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Elementary is nothing compared to Sherlock, but once I managed to get past that I quite enjoyed it.

Lie to Me was pretty good.
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Dec 13 UTC
Well, for long story arcs, I just finished Torchwood: Miracle Day and it was pretty damn good.
Lopt (102 D)
29 Dec 13 UTC
I think the problem is, once you have watched real series like Boardwalk Empire, House of Cards, Mad Men, Breaking Bad perhaps.. your patience for series like Lie to Me or whatever severely deteriorates..
Draugnar (0 DX)
29 Dec 13 UTC
For US productions with season long story arcs, Covert Affairs rocked this last season and White Collar does a good job of blending single episode stories with season long story arcs.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
29 Dec 13 UTC
Boardwalk Empire went down the drain after the first season or so.
Lopt (102 D)
29 Dec 13 UTC
The last season was the best? I don't have a taste for sci-fi.. but what the hack, I am turning more and more desperate here...
Lopt (102 D)
30 Dec 13 UTC
Are you crazy, Boardwalk Empire culminated in season 3! And still season 4 was great, at least not everything is obvious or explained and you are treated as a mature viewer were people don't have to say sentences like : "Yea the .... is a very powerful weapon we must secure it". Well don't goddamn fuck say it just do it, who are you saying it too anyway? Your partner who is obviously on the same page, do you have a talent for stating the obvious?! I don't know what made you think Boardwalk Empire went down the drain, but I have to disagree there
Draugnar (0 DX)

Matt Smith's last season of Doctor Who culminating in Day of the Doctor and Time of the Doctor was a great season long story arc with Clara: the Impossible Girl.

Sherlock is one of the greatest things on TV currently. Looking forward to the new series.
Lopt (102 D)
30 Dec 13 UTC
Gah, I'll probably give it a shot, even-though the cover tells me it will probably be balls.. Are there bigger then life personalities and/or plot holes bigger then the size of neptune, in the series?
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
30 Dec 13 UTC
The plots are very much based on the books, just set in modern London. The episodes are an hour and a half too, which at least helps with some of that.

It leaves a lot of things unexplained, so you should like it.

Of course, Sherlock is 'bigger than life', but that is the entire point...
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Dec 13 UTC
Go out to Amazon and watch all the seasons of 24 if you like season long stories. They are all free if you have amazon prime. And if you have a networked Blu-ray player, you can probably watch it through the Blu-ray player.
Lopt (102 D)
30 Dec 13 UTC
Perhaps as an archetype he is bigger then life, I just hope they have done it with some subtlety and class at least then. But you got me semi-interested.
Lopt (102 D)
30 Dec 13 UTC
Oh no man, 24... that is exactly the kind of crap I cannot stand :d. I'm following Homeland which I think is from the same writers, and even that I am regretting more and more.. it's just so weak and unoriginal and unbelievable etc..
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
30 Dec 13 UTC
Oh he has class, definitely. It's the role that made Cumberbatch.

And there's only 3 episodes in a series, so if you don't like it, you don't have to watch the second series.

Of course, that lack of episodes is also really maddening if you do like it :(

There was actually one new good series this year. Orange is the new black. And Hannibal.. semi, kinda, not really, but Mad Mikkelson is a great actor so yea...

Trying to get to grips with the game in general.Just played a few no messaging anonymous games. Yet a clear pattern developed whereby different players would support other player's units that were in no danger at all. Is a common type of messaging e.g. ID132538#
