I mean I don't want to go off on a Draugnar-smash-esque rant here, but some explanation is owed. Whenever I saw a thread locked in the past I'd always see an explanation prior to locking, and agree or disagree I'd always know what the moderator was thinking.

With no explanation, the only reasonable conclusion is that no justification was offered because none exists.

It's a bit of a hectic time at the moment, given the training of three new mods and this whole scenario with the multi trolls. I hope that you understand given the circumstances. We're still in the process of coming up with a coherent and consistent forum policy, so do bear with us.

While I think the mods should have free reign over the forum for silencing people/threads for cheating issues, it seems the issue here comes down to mods taking forum action for perceived spamming. I think mods should only take action against spamming if enough users report being bothered by the spam. If all the people bothered by the spammer are fine just muting, and no one else generally claims to take issue with the specific spamming instance, then no mod action should take place. Obviously in extreme circumstances they should jump in, but the logic that blocks users from posting too many times in a period of time handles blocks those extreme cases pretty well I think.

Just my two cents.

So a bunch of known rule violators get a stern warning - and YJ get's a random thread lock? This has less to do with "we're so busy..." and more to do with "YJ's thread offended us". Nobody is fooled - it was just censorship, pure and simple.

As people can mute a thread they don't like then a spam-thread doesn't need to be locked - though the poster could be blocked from creating new threads or posting to existing ones.

I also think a reason should be given if a thread is locked.

I just told JMO off for being a fucking douche when the mods unlocked the thread after locking it. He should investigate and not be a power hungry asshole, that is for fucking certain.

But this does beg the question why the thread is locked. It is a perfectly legitimatye topic. The other was locked cause it was a multi from that fucking high school causing so much trouble (thought about contacvting the administration there by chance?). But it could be an interesting subject along the lines of "Is more than 2 shakes masturbating?"

It was locked because it was a dead copy of the spam post by blankflag. Going around a thread silence with a new thread is flat out banned in the rules.

Not to mention Kestas's recent ruling that sexually explicit material in thread OP's wasn't allowed.
