Russia to US, West--"Catastrophic Consequences" Should the West Attempt to Intervene
http://news.yahoo.com/russia-warns-catastrophic-consequences-syria-hit-100720291.html In other news, water is still wet and the Mets still suck (why did you have to tear your shoulder ligament, Matt Harvey, why?) but setting aside US/Russia tensions are about as commonplace as anything these days...well, thoughts on the latest developments in Syria? Intervene, don't intervene...?

So far I've visited pubs in mayfair, SoHo, Covent Garden and Holborn. Went "The Only Ruining Footman" in mayfair on recommendation of a bike taxi (rickshaw) and though it way river rated but based on the crowd of well dressed business men flowing out onto the street, it is clearly a popular place, but not the kind of place to meet people while on vacation. Everyone there just got of work from the banking district or something and wanted to discuss interest rates. Stopped into the bently dealership on Berkeley Square and looked at a £279,000 model. Right now I'm having wine and cheese at Langon's, a very brief walk from picadilly station.

I lived for 9 months two blocks from the British Museum. It was wonderful.

Try the Euston Tap, right outside of Euston Station. Don't go to anything in Covent Garden or Holborn. Prices are 50% higher in tourist areas. Lots of good Bengali food at Brick Lane over by Aldgate. Shoreditch is a good place to go. Edgeware Road has all the good Arab places.

Airfare, check. Tottenham gear, check. Bently, Big ass Check.

I'll check out Euston tap today. And post where I end up tonight for Nigee and any others in the area. Cheers.

Ok Euston tap it is. Didn't get to a place with wifi until now. I'm at charing cross and I should be at Euston tab in 15 min or so. I'll be the American with the red and black shirt on, if anyone shows up.

At Euston tap right now. Great recommendation GF. and right next to the station is very convenient.... Oh and wifi access! Bonus! Hopefully I'll meet some London-area dippers tonight!

Look up London, then the map will zoom in and you'll see a marker in Berkeley square, not quite Euston, but close enough. I posted a pic of me and Nigee.

@nigee, thanks again for the ride last night, and for explaining that damn cricket ash thread that seems to be so popular!

At Garricks Head in Bath tonight. much slower pace than London.
philcore (317 D(S))
22 Aug 13 UTC
And by the way, I'm 6 ft tall and I'm standing on my tippie toes in that picture! I never pictured Nigee as being a big guy. Interesting the perception we get about each other just from reading eachother's posts here. We had a fun time explaining the game and the site to a Russian tourist. He may join up, he sounded interested. Then it again it was 3am, so who knows.

Oh and my wife got insulted, another highlight. Some local londoner (not landowner, don't silence me :-) she asked some question, and this 20 something guy said "Are you American? What, do you need some more attention? Fucking wanker!
philcore (317 D(S))
22 Aug 13 UTC
Forget the end quote. His ended after "...attention?" The "fucking wanker" comment was mine

Bath is slower, but it's also really, really old! Aquae Sulis!

While my place of birth causes me to despise Bath, it is still West Country.

If you happen to swing by Bristol I'll be happy to meet up with you somewhere.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, philcore :) I certainly did when I was there. It's small, but has a good selection.

@2WL - I was living right on UCL campus (basically) so about 3 blocks north of Russell Square. (right in between Gordon Square and Tavistock Square). Or in other words about 500 feet from the Euston Tap haha

@ Hereward

I'm intrigued... Where in the West has beef with Bath? You're not a Gloucester man, are you?
Hereward77 (930 D)
23 Aug 13 UTC
I am indeed from Gloucester. I have been advised while growing up that I am to despise Bath rugby particularly.

Criminally liable for not immunizing
There is a debate in the California legislature to make an individual criminally liable for knowingly exposing others to an infectious disease if the individual refused an immunization for that disease. A Canadian case where an idiot infected with measles walked into a hospital newborn nursery.

I am your Moral Guide
In a recent thread about *bad* behavior by Democrats, it was suggested that no goood Lib/Dem was outraged by the racist behavior because I posted the thread...in other words, you judge the word by the light of me. i.e., I am not your moral guide, apparently.

Please feel free to post your moral dilemmas here for my review, or PM me if they are too personal. I will be a kind and just judge.
