Euro 96 is the one that sticks most firmly in the mind, along (bizarrely) with Michael Schumacher. There's a general irritation that Germany does football better than us, and this is then combined with a bitter disappointment on those rare occasions that they don't and it feels like they've cheated us out of a proper competition. The overall effect is to generate a perception of German smug arrogance that is probably (but by no means certainly) imagined, that leaves you reduced to the level of a Welsh rugby fan.

As a poll worker today, it was pretty chill (granted I was stationed in an elementary school in a pretty nice neighborhood in a firmly blue state so a pretty narrow experience)! How about you guys?
