The show was decent enough, I've loved the book for years, but I've been visiting the stones since long before I'd heard of it.

Re: Happy Solstice All!
Bloody freezing, in fact. Got to around 6 degrees before dawn. Great atmosphere though, and it's not often you get a clear sunrise on Salisbury Plain. These days the focal point seems to be when the rising Sun lines up with various stones, but frankly that happens so rarely that I'd be amazed if it was built with that in mind. Unless the climate was considerably different back then, of course.
But yeah, I'd recommend it to anyone. The place has a completely different feel to how it does when tourists are restricted to the path, or if you arrange a private visit for "educational" purposes.
