DemonRHK: A Tale of Two Games

yes, this is a wallpost, ctrl-f “###” to skip it

this is Demon’s first attempt in this game to give any kind of non-meme reads, roughly halfway thru day 1.

- BB is reading as townleaning, but I have a barometer for brain that hasn’t yet manifested one way or the other.

- Sabi is clutching at their pearls over every damn post. It’s NAI but that is going to casue a lot of static in a reread.

- Jamie’s version of shitposting makes my eyes glaze over and I will straigh up admit I scrolled right past about every post.

- Eden had as really odd interaction there he tried to hand Sabi free towncred and Sabi didn’t take it, so Eden flipped a 180 on them and started pressuring Sabi hard. Ghug also pointed this out, so points to him.

“attempt” is the operative term as you’ll notice that all we have here are vague town leans on brainbomb and potentially ghug (he doesn’t even outright say as much, but you can infer it I guess if we want to be charitable). even then it’s hedged as all sin. brainbomb is “townleaning” but subject to change based on this mystical “barometer” that will maybe or maybe not ever arise. Sabi is NAI. Jamie doesn’t even actually get a read, but I guess we’re meant to assume he is null. and your boy Eden is “odd” based off a superficial restatement of an interaction between Sabi and me, which isn’t even all that accurate of a restatement, but whatever. odd. not suspicious or townie or whatever, just odd.

that’s Demon’s first pass? reference the previous game where he was town:

HR and Maniac for obvious reasons. HR that is not out of the ordinary for. I don’t expect HR D1 any sooner than like 2 hours to EOD (Maybe a bit more now due to deadline. Maniac it’s kinda eh.

very similar tone and style, but much more substantive. a bit more focused on one specific issue (productivity and the lack therein), but even that makes the point for us here—there’s much more direction to his posting in the previous game, he’s looking for specific things and reading off them. whereas in this game we got the sparknotes of a few posts of questionable relevance and basically no commitment to reads.

there’s also a level of nuance that’s simply lacking in his game here vs last game. check out this post from last game:

If you look at my two scum games on this site I never once posted I was town, while I regularly do in my town games.

Therefore, I activated my trust tell that I’m town and you can put me in as a lock.

this is interesting. it’s setting something up that you can only use until your next scum game, especially now that you’ve articulated it this extensively. so this is probably the last time you can effectively use it as town. Alternatively, this game is the game that you deem important enough to wreck the streak with (potentially because your good pal BusinessLamp is playing, and because this game has been said to have an impressive player list). I don’t think that’s the case though– this feels like the town-motivated culmination of this setup. You need to get the good payoff once and then also get the scum payoff for maximum utilization.

+5 town points for you Flum, full faith.

I don’t like this post. In the current gamestate it’s not inherently scummy, but a newer player that has emphasized trying to be careful in posting taking a blind leap of faith on a play that only has a solid payoff in limited and mostly scum motivated instances feel wrong.

do you see anything like that anywhere in his ISO this game? because I don’t.

So the arguement against me is I’m worse for not having sloved the game halfway through D1.

Like, y’all know me and my D1. I know it’s a midday push and is not a reflection of what EOD is gonna look like but this makes me sus Eden more. Maybe I wasn’t far off on the lazy low hanging fruit D1 with the Sabi thing and now this middle push?

it should be noted that no one argued Demon was mafia for not solving the entire game by halfway thru d1, and indeed he did no such thing last game (though he got off to a good start en route to a great game).

but consider this set of events, you find yourself conceding that your play can be construed as suspicious, yet you consider someone actually reaching that conclusion to be going for low-hanging fruit. like hello? maybe the person just… read your suspicious posts and thought you were suspicious lol. what kind of weak self-referential read is this. this is just a glorified version of “i’m rubber and you’re glue”
