Spartee, I had deduced, or guessed your One True Love/Alliance. I still hoped we di the retreat to Austria trick. I was (far too) enthused. When russia made their path through non sc I saw, obviously, that they were going to guess 50/50, and protection was a guess. I xanevup with a brilliant (I thought) way to defend both, with French help. And STILL be able to retreat as planned.

Russia did the one thing that could have messed me up... take nether, and keep wandering.

When I saw Russia actually did that wandering move, I was totally sure you suggested it to them.

You were protecting you OTL, I figured.

And i was sad, because it was a cool shenanigan!

I sorta lost heart for a bit, I admit. But I got over it.

But I DO still believe you told dip... he's not THAT clever. :-)

This game was a blast, thanks all of you!

You're wrong on that count. I sent him two messages during the Fall 1901 move phase; he didn't respond to either:

Autumn, 1901: Well, maybe I should have gone along with your "Troll Germany" proposal, because it looks like Germany is going for a "Troll Italy" gambit...

Autumn, 1901: Anyways, I am grateful for your move to Silesia. I might lose Venice, but I hope you're able to pick off Berlin/Munich.

I was just as disappointed as you were... retreating Tyrolia into Vienna/Trieste would have been one for the books. I really only completely threw in my lot with Austria after the dislodge trick failed.
