But then, it's meta for both of them at this point--were they to deviate, it would give other people a lot of signal warnings.

If they're both town here, logic could be that it's better to poke each other like this, since they wouldn't want that attention on them (since they believe themselves to be town), but rather on everyone else, looking for scum- i.e. not be a distraction.

if it's a dumb meta, they will become a better player by dropping it because when they both rand town, it really hurts town from solving
