Hypo scans are not irrelevant
##VOTE GHUG
They are irrelevant to our current decision making. Some of them will later become relevant.

Take Will's:
He could be town faking a scan who picked "FALSE" at random.
He could be scum faking a scan who picked "FALSE" at random.
He could be scum faking a scan with the intent to shade me.
He could be a parity cop faking a scan on me because he doesn't have a result yet.
He could be a cop who legitimately scanned me. Of the seven cops he can be with the result he has (i.e. not naïve or parity), three would return false on a VT, and a fourth might.

That Will has announced a false scan on me gives me no meaningful information on his role, even knowing my own.
This is why I suggested a corollary where a false result could mean:
Will is a town faking a scan
Will is scum
Will is a cop who read you as guilty/dark/parity to a known scum
Will is a cop who read you as either Not Vanilla or Cop Including Dark Judges

The second is an unavoidable risk. The first, third, and fourth (less likely) would equal out to a vague scumread on you. Not a good reason to vote you out, but if you have a lot of False hypo scans on you it would be a pretty good indication of a scum. If you are getting wagoned for a bunch of False hypo scans of the fourth variety, you can just reveal you are a cop anyways. I said this was a better option, and SOMEONE dissed my plan.
(ghug and balki. Sweet and damo also indicated they preferred ghug's plan)

It should be noted that this was a hypothetical example. I am not scumreading ghug. Please snip this post if you quote it.
You're not scumreading ghug, just voting for him

I preferred my plan precisely because the hypos suggest less. Even under yours, most of the scans are fake. Even the real ones don't tell us exactly what's going on yet. Any attempt to read into the scans is likely to lead us astray and give scum cover for pushing townies, allowing them to blame their votes on scans that ended up being fake. At the very least it encourages people to claim that they are or aren't actually cops, which you highlight yourself, and which is absolutely not what we want.

Think of the hypoclaims as they are now like an encrypted message. They contain useful information, but that information is obscured to the point that we can't understand it until we get the key (a dead cop's flip).

This seems liable to turn into a popularity contest and breed resentment.

As was previously stated I am basically a disciple of the church of Balki and thats probably the person im happiest to see in this game.

I have often fought with snowy, and it has been ugly sometimes and yet I would put him in my top 3, his ideas seem not too far aligned away from mine about who is mafia.

and then I am really enjoying Pirates presence thus far as well.

those 3 people specifically are making this a fun game that is deep and interesting

Something I was thinking about when you mentioned scanning: it’s possible that some result(s) could be mixed up for whatever reason. Role blocking a cop. I don’t think this has been previously addressed? If so then if someone could link that over it would be great. If not, please discuss. Perhaps another coin flip? Or assuming true/false?
If a player is role blocked, they should disclose that information right away, and not offer a fake scan at all. If a player is role blocked, they will get a message from the GM letting them know.

well I was more wondering if peoples reluctance to push scumreads or EVEN use nightkills on players is due to some form of favoritism. like they wanna kill a player but like them too much right now to want to do it?

you really didnt upset me. I just dont understand how you can see zero utility in someone elses scumreads. and it was starting to seem you were siding that direction, which youd only do as one of the two maf squad members.

I'm fine with doing your version, but you were just complaining about how will's hypo scan result, using your system, was useless.

Okay brainbomb, let's think about this.

Suppose I was Mafia. Have I ever played in this way, where I relentlessly shoot down someone's analysis? And why would I choose brainbomb, of all the people, to target? Wouldn't the contrast be so incredibly stark? Particularly because as Town I tend to show appreciation for your analysis, even when I don't agree with it? Would scum sweetandcool really engage in such a cruel tactic?

I will ponder this for a while and take a break. I have bigger concerns that are larger, like there is some sort of cloud hanging over the game itself now and everything seems more... awkward... maybe even lifeless. and I have some very wild theories about balki-ghug-dip now as well.

gonna relax, go make dinner, and think about the game in a different sense.

So no kill, huh. Should we consider no kill for the day too?

Judges depending on what they rolled, get 5-8 kills plus possibly some from visits.
Angels get as many kills as they want, but it can be awkward to cover their tracks.

I think D1 it would be fine for Angels to kill if they can. BUT, Judges can use that to their advantage. If they withhold killing, and a kill still occurs, then they will have a great idea as to who the MMA is.

Also obviously Doctor and roleblock could have something to do with it too. But I suspect this is what Judges had in mind, and they probably primed someone if they rolled that Judge. And either Angels anticipated it or just couldn't kill or got Doctored.
