Introducing Dark Mode
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
I have been headache enough, but would it be better if you used a darker background at the county list with SC counts. The country names like Italy are a biyt hard to see on light gray.
Edit: Not hard to see, but the low contrast is eye-disturbing.

Conversely, I love the low contrast, although I do agree the Italy color could be brightened just a tick. Austria, too.

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
I think I made him tone down the red and green just a little to what they are because they were having the "3D'ish" effect that is an instant migraine on some sites. If you want to throw specific hex values at us though, that's super helpful because having just the right value can be the difference between "that won't work" and "huh that looks good".

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
The check mark for saved but not readied orders is hard to distinguish from the Grey of the game's box in the top link section (not sure if that makes sense but hopefully you know what I mean). Not sure what an easy solution would be for this, but maybe a thin outline around the check mark of some higher contrast color (a gold or white maybe?). Or if it's not hard to change the check itself, maybe make it the same black as the border of the box so it contrasts the paler grey of the box interior?

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
You probably need to clear your cache, we made a new icon but the old one might persist especially on mobile browsers which love to cache images longer then they shouldAncientMemories wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 9:10 pmThe check mark for saved but not readied orders is hard to distinguish from the Grey of the game's box in the top link section (not sure if that makes sense but hopefully you know what I mean). Re: Introducing Dark Mode
If any icons look too dark, I would recommend clearing your cache before anything else. I changed most icons on the site.
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Italy and Austria have been brightened just a tick.
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Russia was the bane of my existence throughout this redesign, so it's gonna stay as is unless you have a specific hex code in mind. Brightening it further makes it very similar to England, and changing England is impractical for a number of reasons.

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Loving the new dark mode!
One small request: could you make the 'unread post' icon stand out more? It's the one beside the post #.
The standard mode has a red paper icon for unread posts that changes to grey after you see it. I find the white paper icon in dark mode gets a bit lost in the background.

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
The icons on the forum are gif files and outside of the realm of things I know how to change, so I don't know that they can be changed. Emc's changes to the forum icons will be live soon, but I do not believe that the new icons will be very different from the old ones. They'll be much cleaner in dark mode, though.
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Thanks for dark mode, it's great!
Occasionally, I get a page rendered in light mode instead (which goes dark when I refresh it). For example, it just happened when I followed a link from the forum to a game. There's no obvious pattern to it, so it could be a nightmare to debug, but I thought I'd mention it just in case it's fixable.

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Yeah, we’re working on narrowing that down. I think I have a good idea of what is going on but fixing it will be tough. Any pattern regardless of how insignificant it seems (browser, device, how you’re navigating the site, etc) could be useful.
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Possibly useful information:
Following the link from viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1853 in the top post triggered the bug for me yesterday (Windows laptop, chrome), and again today (iPad, Safari), the first time I followed it on each device. Subsequent clicks on the link have been dark mode.

Re: Introducing Dark Mode
Interesting. I was under the impression it was caused via external links. Maybe it had something to do with the SSL path.
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
A completely unrelated note, but bo's "introducing dark mode" is now only one +1 under jmo's "introducing chaos" post.
Re: Introducing Dark Mode
It is now even :D
bust out your alts, people - one more to prove the superiority of the dark side over chaos, lmao
